Walter Roy Tennyson

HUNTSVILLE -- Funeral for Walter Roy Tennyson, 92, of Decatur will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Valhalla Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Jackson and the Rev. Jimmy Legg officiating.

Burial will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 7 at the funeral home.

Mr. Tennyson died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, in Decatur. He was born Feb. 7, 1909, in Cullman to John Preston Tennyson and Mary Hardyman Tennyson. He was retired from Liberty National Life Insurance Co. He was an avid fisherman and a member of Fifth Avenue Baptist Church, where he was active in leading worship services.

Survivors include one son, Daniel W. Tennyson of Huntsville; three sisters, Eutheria Ingram of Tennessee, and Louise Hester and Lois Leonard, both of Birmingham; one grandson; and one great-grandson.

Hazel Black Walker

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Hazel Black Walker, 72, of Hartselle will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at New Center Baptist Church with the Rev. Harold Brown and the Rev. Alfred Palmer officiating.

Burial will be in Mt. Tabor Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 until 9 at the funeral home. The body will be at the church one hour before the funeral.

Mrs. Walker died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2001, at her home. She was born June 11, 1929, in Morgan County to Adolphus Black and Verona Russell Black Kirby. She was a member of New Center Baptist Church. She retired from South Central Bell, where she worked as a clerk. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. She was the stepdaughter of the late Freeman Kirby and stepsister of the late Gurnie Kirby and Lecil Kirby. She was sister of the late Betty Wan Hammon.

Survivors include her husband, Jack Walker; one son, Tony Walker of Hartselle; one daughter, Glenda Lamberti of Hartselle; her stepmother Ruby Black of Morgan City; one stepsister, Olivia Stewart of Morgan City; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Carl J. Collins, Alford Hooper, Danny Hammon, Joe Tuminello, Ron Hammon, Ross Harris, Audrey Moon and James Necaise.

Lorena Hardin Dunning
Funeral for Lorena Hardin Dunning, 73, of Decatur will be tonight at 7 at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Scotty Hogan officiating.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday at Burningtree Memorial Gardens at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 until 7 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Dunning died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Sept. 30, 1928, in Tennessee to Elmer Castro Hardin and Lillie Swafford Hardin.

Survivors include one son, Don Dunning of Chapin, S.C.; two daughters, Kathy Styers and Patricia Holaway, both of Decatur; three sisters, Mildred Rodey of Chattanooga and Linda Steele and Mary Bailey, both of Pensacola, Fla.; and five grandchildren.

Anthony Porter Flowers

Funeral for Anthony Porter Flowers, 48, of Decatur will be Wednesday at noon at St. Stephens Primitive Baptist Church with the Rev. Eugene Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Memorial Gardens with Rey- nolds Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Flowers died Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital.

He was born Jan. 16, 1953, in Decatur to James Flowers and Julia Margaret Stegall Flowers. He graduated from Decatur High School and Calhoun Community College with a degree in barbering. He was self-employed as a barber and a member of St. Stephens Primitive Baptist Church.

He was the father of the late Antonette Flowers. Survivors include his wife, Jane Edna Flow- ers; two sons, Anthony Flowers Jr. and Corey Flowers, both of Decatur; four brothers, James Flowers Jr. and Larry Flowers, both of Cleveland, Ohio, Edmond Flowers of Madison and James R. Smith of Decatur; and two sisters, Anona Flowers of Decatur and Irene Morrow of College Park, Ga. Pallbearers will be Willie James Butler, Brandon Cowley, Deangelo McDaniel, Paul Stevens, David Bass, Wayne Henderson, Billy Joe Birdsong and Charles Owens.

Paul Eathon Foster

ATHENS -- Paul Eathon Foster , infant son of Eugene and Kim Foster of Athens, died today, Nov. 6, 2001, at Athens-Limestone Hospital.

Limestone Chapel Funeral Home will announce arrangements.

Grover Cleveland Gray

ADDISON -- Funeral for Grover Cleveland Gray, 90, of Vinemont was Saturday at 2 p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home with the Rev. Roland Westmoreland officiating.

Burial was in Mount Vernon Methodist Cemetery.

Mr. Gray died Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, at Falkville Health Care.

Survivors include four sons, John Gray of Savannah, Tenn., J.T. Gray of Yarnell, Ariz., Marshall Gray of Popular Bluff, Mo., and B.C. Gray of Bangor, Maine; one daughter, Sybil Gray of Cullman; two brothers, Charles Gray of Decatur and Marion Gray of Moulton; two sisters, Clara Rogers of Decatur and Virgie Owens of Athens; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Winston Vaughan Legge Sr.

ATHENS -- Graveside service for Winston Vaughan Legge Sr., 88, of Athens, was Monday at Athens City Cemetery with Dr. Curtis Coleman officiating and McConnell Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Legge died Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, at Limestone Manor. He was born Sept. 15, 1913, in Limestone County to Dr. Isham Vaughan Legge and Morris Elizabeth Winston Legge. He attended schools in Meridian, Miss., Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Athens. He was a 1934 graduate of Howard College in Birmingham and attended Harvard School of Business. In 1936 he and his wife, the late Sarah Marceline Riddle, moved to Illinois where he worked for Simonds Saw and Steel Co. in Chicago. He also lived in Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Birmingham, where he was credit manager for Trust and Savings Co. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and advanced to the rank of lieutenant during World War II.

In 1946 he and his family moved to Talladega, where he co-owned and operated a building supply company.

He was president of Talladega National Bank and chairman of the board of directors. He retired from the bank in 1983 and served on the board until 1988.

In Talladega, he was a civic leader, serving as an officer in numerous organizations in- cluding the Chamber of Commerce and the Kiwanis Club.

Survivors include, one son, Winston V. Legge Jr. of Athens; one daughter, Betsy Legge Dunn of Birmingham; one stepdaughter, JoAnne Walden of Dothan; two granddaughters, one step-granddaughter and one step-great-grandson.

Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.

Charlie Davis Miller

ADDISON -- Funeral for Charlie Davis Miller, 81, of Addison will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church with the Rev. Ray Bridgemon and the Rev. Kenneth Hancock officiating.

Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with Nichols Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Miller died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2001, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born Dec. 21, 1919, in Winston County to Lonnie Miller and Maggie Burnett Miller. He was a retired truck driver. He was the widower of Catherine White Miller and the brother of the late Johnny Miller, the late Bud Miller, the late Effie Legg and the late Etta Mae Roden.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry Miller of Decatur and Danny Miller of Addison; two daughters, Jonna Denson of Birmingham and Ann La- Chance of Decatur; three brothers, Jimmy Miller and Cecil Miller, both of Tuscaloosa, and Guy Miller of Eva; three sisters, Alma Cutcher of Addison, Dovie Smith of Nash- ville and Nellie Lackey of Huntsville; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.

R.H. Parker Sr.

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for R.H. Parker Sr., 94, of Hartselle, will be Wednesday 3:30 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold Acthley officiating.

Burial will be in Hartselle City Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Parker died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2001, at home. He was born Dec. 13, 1906, in Morgan County, to Zeb. D. Parker and Celia Francis Parker. He was a self-employed accountant for 50 years and retired from practice in 1992 at the age of 85. He was a member of the cattleman's association for many years and owned and operated a cattle farm until 1994. He was a charter member of the Hartselle Rotary Club.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice Thorn Parker; one son, Robert Parker of Decatur; one stepson, Lynn Patterson of Hartselle; one step daughter, Toni Byford of Hartselle; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Nick Watkins, Jeremy Patterson, Lanier Parker, Earl Murphy, Kenneth Tankersley and Gary Burgess.

Memorials may be made to Alacare-Hospice, 4752 Alabama 280, Birmingham, AL 35242.

Thelma Mae Rochell

CHICAGO -- Funeral for Thelma Mae Rochell, 78, of Decatur will be Friday at noon at A.R. Leak Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Chicago with the Rev. Joe H. Roberson officiating.

Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery in Hillside, Ill.

Mrs. Rochell died Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Sept. 27, 1923, in Chicago. She worked with the foster grandparents program in Decatur. Her daughter, Collene Flynn, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001 at the age of 51. Burial for the mother and daughter will be the same day.

Survivors include four grandsons and six granddaughters.

Pallbearers will be John Lipscomb, David Henry, Jeffrey Henry, Keith Fields, Love Edgecomb and Lashawn Simpson.

Frederick Shreve Stidfole

HARTSELLE -- Memorial service for Frederick Shreve Stidfole, 91, of Hanceville, will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Beual D. Hunkapiller officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Holly Cemetery in Mount Holly, N.J. The family will receive friends Wednesday at the funeral home from 12:30 to 1 p.m.

Mr. Stidfole died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2001, at Victoria Manor Assisted Living in Hanceville. He was born March 14, 1910, in Mount Holly to Benjamin Frank Stidfole and Sara Ellen Brown Stidfole. He was retired as an electrical engineer from Brewer Titchner Corp. in Cortland, N.Y., and lived in Hartselle after his retirement and before moving to Hanceville.

Survivors include four sons, Eugene S. Stidfole of Marietta, Ga., Robert "Bob" Stidfole of Warrior, James A. Stidfole of Quaker Hill, Conn., and Arthur F. Stidfole of Sacramento, Calif.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Hazel Black Walker

Jimmy Carl Blackwood
CULLMAN -- Funeral for Jimmy Carl Blackwood, 54, of Cullman was to be today at 11 a.m. at West Point Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim McClurkan and the Rev. Tommy Blackwood officiating.

Burial was to be in Crossroads Cemetery with Moss Service Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Blackwood died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001, at his home. He was born Jan. 2, 1947, in Cullman County to John B. "Hunky" Blackwood and Bonnie McBrayer Blackwood. He was a machinist at Delphi Automotive Systems and Speedring and co-owner of a sheet metal shop.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Cook Blackwood; one son, Randall Keith Blackwood of Cullman; one brother, Tommy Blackwood of Cullman; one sister, Connie Cook of Cullman; his parents of Cullman; and one granddaughter.

Pallbearers were to be J.C. Cook, Johnny Cook, Greg Blackwood, Johnny McBrayer, Ben McKenzie and Marty Daly.

Honorary pallbearers were to be fellow employees of Delphi and Speedring.

Paul Ethan Foster

ATHENS -- Graveside service for infant Paul Ethan Foster of Athens was to be today at 2 p.m. at Antioch Cemetery, with Marshall Norman officiating.

The infant died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001, the day of his birth, at Athens-Limestone Hospital.

Survivors include his parents, Eugene and Kim Foster of Athens; one brother, Zach Allen of Athens; one sister, Haven Foster of Athens; his grandparents, Thomas and Shelia Ross of New Albany, Ind., and Alvin and Stella Stanford of Lester; his great-grandparents, George and Marvolene Steelman of Athens; and his great-great-grandmother, Inez Putman of Athens.

Pallbearers will be William Norman and Mark Anderson.
