Jerry Griggs
68, former television broadcaster

MADISON -- Funeral for Jerry Griggs, 68, of Madison, was to be today at 11 a.m. at Madison Chapel Funeral Home, with the Rev. Paul Lombard officiating.

Burial was to be in Madison City Cemetery.

Mr. Griggs died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 1999, at a local hospital. He was born May 7, 1931, in Dayton Ohio, and was a Decatur resident for 23 years. He was a Korean War veteran and a television broadcaster for Channel 48 in Huntsville and Channel 23 in Decatur.

Mr. Griggs is survived by his wife, Wanda Griggs; three sons, Stanley Griggs, Lance Griggs and Damone McDuffie, all of Madison; three daughters, Teresa Green of Madison, Monica Harris of Memphis, and Rhonda Pemberton of Knoxville; and eight grandchildren.

Homer C. Pack

ATHENS -- Funeral for Homer C. Pack, 90, of Athens will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Pack died today, Oct. 29, 1999, at his home. Other arrangements will be announced by the funeral home.

Perlie Pearlee Patterson

MOULTON -- Funeral arrangements for Perlie Pearlee Patterson, 81, of Town Creek, who died Thursday, Oct. 28, 1999, at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital, will be announced by Lawrence Funeral Home.

Rosemary Quay Robinson
78, former business owner

HARTSELLE -- Graveside service Rosemary Quay Robinson, 78, of Naples, Fla., will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Forrest Chapel Cemetery with the Rev. Brady McCullough officiating.

Mrs. Robinson died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 1999, at her residence. She was born Sept. 25, 1921, in New York. She was the former owner of Robinson Grocery in Hartselle.

She is the widow of C.M. Robinson and the mother of the late Bill Robinson.

She is survived by three sons, Edward VanCamp of Witchita Falls, Texas, Dale Robinson of Hartselle and Raymond Robinson of Altamont Springs, Fla.; two daughters, Sue Wolfert of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Wilda Hernandez of Naples, Fla.; one brother, Dan Quay of New York; one sister, Nancy Quay Waurzyneak of New York; 18 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Hospice of the Valley.

Johnson Scoggins
72, retired forklift operator

ATHENS -- Graveside services for Johnson Scoggins, 72, formerly of Athens, will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home.

Mr. Scoggins died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 1999, at Briarwood Nursing Home in Louisville. He was born April 25, 1927, in Limestone County. He was a retired forklift operator from International Harvester in Louisville. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, the Parkland Masonic Lodge 638 and the Scottish Rite.

He is survived by his wife, Leona Poteet Scoggins; two sons, Richard Scoggins and Paul Scoggins, both of Louisville; two daughters, Mary Kendall of Louisville and Theresa McClain of Shepherdsville, Ky.; five stepsons, Terry Vincent of Marengo, Ind., John Vincent of Valley Station, Ky., Richard Vincent of English, Ind., and Tim Vincent and Jeff Vincent, both of Louisville; one brother, Raymond Scoggins of Athens; two sisters, Nettie Biggs and Ethel Wales, both of Athens; 16 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.

Helen Ruth Bain
65, Prestolite retiree

Funeral for Helen Ruth Bain, 65, of Decatur will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Green e and the Rev. Leon Dawson officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery in Athens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Bain died Saturday, Oct. 30, 1999, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born March 3, 1934, in Morgan County, to A.B. Mayfield and Mavo Legg Mayfield. She was a member of King's Baptist Church of Hartselle and was retired from Prestolite, where she worked for 30 years.

She is survived by her husband, John Walton Bain; two sons, James Stephen Legg of Hartselle and David Howell Legg of Nashville; three daughters, Vaunda Legg Phillips of Priceville, Deborah Legg Adkison of Rogersville and Paula Legg Atchley of Somerville; two stepsons, the Rev. John Dennis Bain of Hartselle and Danny Glenn Bain of Augusta, Ga.; her mother of Decatur; one brother, Teddy Mayfield of Neel; three sisters, Betty Guthrie of Hartselle, and Barbara King and Rhonda Jo Bogle, both of Decatur; 17 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.

Cleo Pat Bolton
83, retired beautician

ATHENS -- Funeral for Cleo Pat Bolton, 83, of Athens will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Hudak and the Rev. Tony Wales officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Bolton died Sunday, Oct. 31, 1999, at her home. She was born May 31, 1916, in Eaton Rapids, Mich, to the Rev. A.J. Tingley and Martha Stoddard. She was a retired beautician. She was the widow of Malcom M. Bolton and sister of the late Roger Tingley.

She is survived by three daughters, Jeannie B. Hill of Atlanta, Marlene B. Uhrich of Elba and Elaine Lauderdale of Elkmont; one sister, Francis Cunningham of Huntsville; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Wade Coats, Ben Lauderdale, Matt Spivey, Greg Steele, Patrick Holmes and Lance Bolton.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Limestone County or the Council on Aging.

Rubie Butler

Funeral arrangements for Rubie Butler of Decatur, who died Saturday, Oct. 30, 1999, at SunBridge Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, will be announced by Sharpley Funeral Home.

William Andrew Casteel II
62, Wallace Center retiree

Funeral for William Andrew Casteel II, 62, of Hartselle was to be today at 2 p.m. at Caddo Church with the Rev. David Bradford and Mike Draper officiating.

Burial was to be in the adjoining church cemetery with Roselawn Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Casteel died Saturday, Oct. 30, 1999, at his home. He was born June 16, 1937, in Trinity, to William Andrew Casteel and Flora Mae Alexander Casteel. He was retired from Lurleen B. Wallace Developmental Center.

He is survived by his wife, Dorthey Casteel; four sons, Billy Casteel, Mike Casteel and Anthony Casteel, all of Hartselle, and David L. Casteel of Danville; two daughters, Brenda Berryman of Decatur and Carol Hagood of Danville; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Mark Hagood, Will Hagood, Steven Berryman, Adrian Spiller, Mathan Casteel and Jerome Casteel.

Marie Hart Clarke
78, Decatur native

LAS VEGAS -- Funeral for Marie Hart Clarke, 78, of Las Vegas will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Bunker Funeral Home with the Rev. Marvin Gant officiating.

Burial will be in Memory Gardens Mausoleum.

Mrs. Clarke died Saturday, Oct. 30, 1999, in Las Vegas, where she had resided the past 34 years. She was born April 28, 1921, in Decatur, to Charles Baxter Hart and Edna Maples Hart.

She is survived by her husband, Alick Clarke; and two sisters, Frieda Wooten of Russellville and Jeanoma O'Brien of Sebring, Fla.

Harvey Wendell Cline

ATHENS -- Funeral arrangements for Harvey Wendell Cline, 58, of Tanner, who died Sunday, Oct. 31, 1999, at Athens-Limestone Hospital, will be announced by Spry Funeral Home.

Girthel Mae Jeffreys Hall
86, retired seamstress

MOULTON -- Funeral for Girthel Mae Jeffreys Hall, 86, of Town Creek will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Elliott Funeral Home with the Rev. Milton Burks and the Rev. Mark Wakefield officiating.

Burial will be in Furgeson Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8:30 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hall died Sunday, Oct. 31, 1999, at Helen Keller Hospital. She was born May 10, 1913, in Lawrence County. She was a retired seamstress and was a member of Providence Baptist Church.

Mrs. Hall is survived by one brother, Ralph Jeffreys; and two sisters, Fannie B. Stokes and Audrey Smith.

Nephews will be pallbearers.
