Ruth Duke

DUKE, Ruth Allums, 86, a resident of Prattville, AL, died peacefully at home on Friday, March 16, 2007. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 20, 2007, at 11:00 a.m., from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial, with Dr. Travis Coleman officiating. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. CST, in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Lanett, AL, with Reverend Andy Cook officiating, Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mrs. Duke was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was preceded in death by two beloved spouses, Wyatt H. Allums and Riley F. Duke, and one son-in-law, Larry G. Luker. She is survived by one son, Howard (Melanie) Allums, Old Hickory, TN; two daughters, Phoebe Luker, Prattville, AL, and Debbie (Ken) Bence, Centerville, GA; two step-sons, Wesley (Linda) Duke, Huguley, AL, and Jerry (Jeanette) Duke, Lawrenceville, GA; eight grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. Active pallbearers will be her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Tuesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

Myrtle Leola Manning Jacks

JACKS, Myrtle Leola Manning, 82, a resident of the New Prospect Community died peacefully on Saturday, January 12, 2008. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 14, 2008, at 2:00 p.m., from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial, with Reverends Tommy Roy and Ed Bush officiating. Burial will follow in New Prospect Cemetery, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. She is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, William T. Jacks; two sons, Allen (Eva) Jacks, and Tommy (Barbara) Jacks; three daughters, Linda (Claudy) Scott, Judy (Jim) Bartel, and Patricia (Eugene) Kahng; 28 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Sunday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

William Lewis

Lewis, William Henry, 82, a resident of Prattville, AL, died peacefully on Sunday, July 29, 2007, at a local nursing home. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, August 1, 2007, at 2:00 p.m., at Prattville Memory Gardens, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Col. Lewis served his country in the Army for two years and the Air Force for over 30 years. He served during World War II, Korean, and Vietnam Wars. After his military career, Mr. Lewis was a real estate agent for over 20 years. Mr. Lewis is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Nancy C. Lewis; two daughters, Nancy L. (Robert L.) Emmons, and Carolyn L. (Timothy O.) Bollenbacher; one sister, Gloria Hunter; one brother, Charles Lewis; and four grandchildren, Patrick Tucker, Brandon (Melinda) Tucker, Robby Emmons, and Ethan Lewis; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Pallbearers will be The United States Air Force. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.

Ronnie Edwards

Edwards, Ronald David, Sr., 56, a resident of Prattville, AL, passed away peacefully with his devoted wife at his side on Monday, April 4, 2005 after an extended illness. Ronnie's military service included the Vietnam War where he served as a SPEC5 Helicopter crew chief. He was an active member and deacon at Crestview Baptist Church and at Bethesda Baptist Church. He served as Vice-President of The Independence Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Edwards owned and operated Rare Body Shop in Independence for over 25 years. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2005, at 1:00 p.m., from Bethesda Baptist Church, with Reverend William Kee officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Montgomery, AL, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Edwards, Sr., brother, Thomas Edwards, and sister, Linda Felps. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Angelina Fowler Edwards; one son, Ronnie (Tex) Edwards, Jr.; one daughter, Katrina Edwards; two grandsons, Ronald David Edwards, III, and Austin Michael Edwards; his mother, Minnie L. Edwards; two brothers, Lynn (Rita) Edwards, and Ricky (Diane) Edwards; two sisters, Gail (Charles) Thornton and Deannie Stewart. Active pallbearers will be Bill Durbin, Howard Hopkins, Emmett Williams, Jimmy Barrett, Bubba Carroll, and Clinton Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Shorty Atwell, Jerry Lewis, Casey Ott, Jay McMichael, Brett Wadsworth, and Larry Edwards. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the family in care of Rare Body Shop. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

James Holmes

HOLMES, James E, 85, a native of Belleville, MI, died on Thursday, January 20, 2005, in Prattville, AL. A committal service will be held on Monday, January 24, 2005, at 10:00 a.m., from the Chapel of Washtenong Memorial Cemetery, with Reverend Larry Matthis officiating. Entombment will follow with Resurrection Funeral Home directing. Mr. Holmes honorably served his country during World War II as a Veteran of the United States Army. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lorna Leone Holmes; five daughters, Evelyn Coger, Florella, AL, Marilyn (Henry) Giacalone, Belleville, MI, Susan Foster, Springfield, FL, Sandra (Paul) Defoe, Prattville, AL, and Jacqueline Sanchez, Detroit, MI; 30 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

Bob Golson

GOLSON, Sr., Bob Allen, 90, a life-long resident of Prattville, AL, died peacefully on Tuesday, May 10, 2005, at the home in which he was born. A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 13, 2005, at 10:00 a.m., from Mt. Zion Cemetery, with Reverend Larry Armstrong officiating, Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mr. Golson honorably served his country during World War II as a Veteran of the United States Air Force. He was preceded in death by 14 brothers and sisters. He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, June and Billy Pertree, Montgomery, AL; one son and daughter-in-law, Bob Golson, Jr., and Peggy Golson, Deatsville, AL; three grandchildren, Bob Golson, III and spouse, Hillary Golson, Emily Pertree, and Sara Golson; and one great-grandson, Ethan Michael Golson. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Thursday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.

Madonna Huntley

HUNTLEY, Madonna Byrne, 77, a native of Maryland and long-time resident of Montgomery, AL, died peacefully at home on Friday, June 8, 2007. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 11, 2007, at 3:00 p.m., from St. John’s Episcopal Church in Montgomery, AL, with The Reverend Father Evan Gardner officiating. Burial will follow in Prattville Memory Gardens with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mrs. Huntley was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved the arts and spent many years teaching ballet, especially to young children. She was an honorary member of the Marine Corp League Townsend Detachment, and was an active member of the CCRW and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was preceded in death by her beloved spouse, Clarence O’Neil Huntley. She is survived by six daughters, Heidi (Charles) Almeida, Gretchen (Tom) Briendel, Amy (Louis) Alves, Stacey (Paul) Marshall, Kristin Sutton, and Jennifer (James) Denning; four sons, Byrne (Laura) Huntley, Andrew (Deborah) Huntley, Robert Huntley, and Lt. Col. (Select) Peter (Krista) Huntley; 20 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one half sister, Bobby Zastrow. The family will receive friends at St. John’s Episcopal Church one hour prior to her service from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m.

Johnnie "J.O." DeVaughn

DeVAUGHN, Johnnie Orbie “J. O.” , 79, a resident of Prattville, AL, died on Wednesday, September 1, 2004, after an extended illness. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2004, at 10:30 a.m., from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial, with Reverend Lamar Lyon and Reverend Randall Tucker officiating. Burial will follow in Prattville Memory Gardens, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mr. DeVaughn honorably served his country as a Veteran of the United States Army during World War II. He was well-known as the Owner and Operator of DeVaughn and Son Country Store in White City, AL; and he later served as the Tax Collector for the Autauga County Revenue Department from which he retired after 12 years of service. He is survived by his spouse, Doris Hollon DeVaughn, Prattville, AL; one daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Wayne Coppedge, Clanton, AL; one step-daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Tim Claybrook, Prattville, AL; one step-son and daughter-in-law, Hugh and Kim Hollon, Prattville, AL; two grandchildren, Harmon (Michelle) Coppedge and Laurie Coppedge; three step-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Claybrook, Rhett Hollon and Brooklyn Hollon; one great grandchild, Leighton Park Coppedge; and two sisters, Lillian Burkhalter, Enterprise, AL, and Jenelle (Ralph) Mims, Haynes, AL. Pallbearers will be William Mims, Johnny Burkhalter, Earl Griffin, Paul Griffin, Dwight Griffin, and Larry Raines. Honorary pallbearers will be Haynes Wright, Junius Kendrick, Ralph Hunt, Winston Hollon, Bill Turnham, Donald Gandy, and members of his Sunday School Class. Memorial tributes may be sent to White Pond Baptist Church, c/o The Grounds Fund, 1898 County Road 21, Prattville, AL 36067. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
