Infant Madison Durham

DURHAM, Madison Nicole, precious infant daughter of Samantha and David Durham, died on the day of her birth, Tuesday, October 16, 2007, at Montgomery East Hospital. A private graveside service was held on Friday, November 19, 2007, at 3:00 p.m., from Prattville Memory Gardens, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Madison Nicole was preceded in death by her grandmother, Lana L. Corti. In addition to her loving parents, she is survived by her grandparents, Ruby and Roy Durham; great-grandparents, Adeline Phillips, Betty Durham, Frank and Myrtle Wilson; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Gary Harris

HARRIS, Gary Lynn, 44, a resident of Prattville, AL, died on Saturday, August 11, 2007. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 15, 2007, at 11:00 a.m., from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial, with Reverend Gary Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the County Line Church of Christ Cemetery, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Gary is survived by his wife, Pamela T. Harris; one daughter, Lacey Merrell Harris; two sons, Jeremy Jackson Thomas and Brandon Alexander Harris; two sisters, Jennifer Meredith and Amanda Noe; two brothers, Darrell Harris and Jimmy Harris; one brother-in-law, Kevin Meredith; and two nieces, Ayla Renee Meredith and Calle Elizabeth Noe. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Wednesday morning from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m.

Bobbie Day

DAY, Bobbie Spickard, 85, a resident of Prattville, AL, died peacefully at home on Friday, May 4, 2007. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 8, 2007, at 11:00 a.m., from the First Baptist Church, with Reverend Dave Burns and Dr. Leroy Stringfield officiating. Burial will follow in Prattville Memory Gardens, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mrs. Day was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Prattville. She was preceded in death by her beloved spouse of 54 years, Hugh Powers Day, Jr. She is survived by two daughters, Debbie (Claude) Thompson, Prattville, AL, and Carol A. Day, Santa Paula, CA; grandchildren, Amy (Aaron) Cabaniss, Ft. Smith, AR, John Thorne, Westover, AL, and his fiancé, Jennifer Mims, Sylacauga, AL, Rachael (Eric) Brunson, Enterprise, AL, Tommy (Jackie) Thompson, Forest Home, AL; six great-grandchildren, and one brother, Lee (Elese) Spickard, Knoxville, TN. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial gifts to be sent to the First Baptist Church, c/o The Building Fund, 138 South Washington Street, Prattville, AL 36067, or to Big Oak Ranch, 6000 Shelley Drive, Springville, AL 35146. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Major Carey Johnson

JOHNSON, Major Carey Johanson, 39, a native of South Carolina and current resident of Prattville, AL, died on Saturday, May 6, 2006, after a courageous battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 8, 2006, at 4:00 p.m., in Chapel II at Maxwell Air Force Base, with Chaplain Von Almen officiating. A funeral service and Burial will follow in Greenwood, SC. At the time of his death, Major Johnson was stationed at Maxwell Air Force Base as an Officer assigned to Squadron Officer College of the United States Air Force. He was preceded in death by his step-father, Mr. James Collins. He is survived by his mother, Edith Spells Johnson Collins, Due West, SC; his father, Dr. Leon Johnson, Columbia, SC; his brother, Mr. Najee Mustafaa; his sisters, Ms. Kirsten Johnson and Dr. Crystal Johnson; his grandfather, Prof. Benjamin Spells, and several aunts and uncles. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Monday evening from 5:30 until 6:30 p.m.

Bobby J. Hand

HAND, Bobby J., 67, a resident of Prattville, AL, died peacefully on Saturday, August 4, 2007. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 6, 2007, at 10:00 a.m., from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial, with Randall Tucker officiating. Burial will follow in Prattville Memory Gardens, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mr. Hand retired from CSX with over 43 years of dedicated service to the railroad. He was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Hand. He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Arlene Hand, Prattville, AL; one daughter, Kim (Gerald) Miller, Prattville, AL; two sisters, Margie (J.C.) hunt, Sparksburg, GA, and Brenda (James) Dennis, Prattville, AL; and one brother, Max (Wilda) Hand, Autaugaville, AL. Active pallbearers will be Jimmy Barrett, Sam Reid, Winston Hollon, Paul York, Sam Rogers, Dale Yarbrough, and James Bowles. Honorary pallbearers will be the Sam Gibbons Masonic Lodge 639, retirees of CSX railroad, and the Men’s II Sunday School Class. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be sent to Prattmont Baptist Church Building Fund, 814 Smith St. Prattville, AL, 36066 and to Sam Gibbons Masonic Lodge 639, In care of Gordon Hallmark, 1576 Rolling Hills Dr., Prattville, AL 36067. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Sunday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Howard Jones

JONES, William Howard, 70, a resident of Alexander City, AL, died unexpectedly on Thursday, February 8, 2007, at a local hospital. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 11, 2007, at 10:00 a.m., from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial, with Reverend Ron Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery located in Alexander City, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by three brothers, Marlin Jones, Thomas Jones, and Melvin Jones. He is survived by his beloved partner, Renee Wright Murphy; seven children, Howard Linn (Linda) Jones, William Rodney Jones, Kenneth Michael Jones, Scotty Frank (Kathlyn), Rebecca Dawn (Kenny Wayne) Spivey, Joan Elizabeth (Carl) Johns, and Terri (Michael) Bratcher; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mildred Saltsman; two brothers, Bruce Jones and Harold Jones; and several extended family members, Bernice Wright, Ozea (Jean) Wright, Randy (Karen) Wright, Ricky (Liz) Wright, Wanda (Gordon) Rawlinson, and Diane (Ernest) Watson. Pallbearers will be Ozea Wright, Randy Wright, R. D. Wright, Ricky Wright, Michael Bratcher and Ernest Watson. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Saturday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.

William Hagler

Hagler, William, 85, a resident of Montgomery, AL, died peacefully on Sunday, March 20, 2005. Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at 3:00 p.m., at Prattville Memory Gardens, with Reverend Danny Powell officiating, Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mr. Hagler is preceded in death by his beloved spouse of 64 years on March 4, 2005, Alcene Hanner Hagler. He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Pauline Hagler Kitchens of Prattville, AL, Diane and Don White of Robertsdale, AL, Deborah and John Donaldson Ford of Buena Vista, GA; one son and daughter-in-law, William W. and Fran Hagler of Orlando, FL; eight grandchildren, Donna (Mike) Hanankrat, Eugene (Cindy) Hagler, Mike (Robin) Kitchens, Dale (Steve) Wilson, Angela Hagler, Danny White, Deena (Harry) Butler, and Megan Ford; four great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Thompson, Renoa White, Zachary Wilson and Andrew Hanankrat; five brothers-in-law, Alto (Hazel) Hanner, Jr., Averett (Jeanette) Hanner, Boyce (Agnes) Hanner, Royce (Betty) Hanner, Cecil (Brenda) Hanner. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Douglas White, John Donaldson Ford, Eugene Hagler, Mike Kitchens, Danny White, Mike Hanankrat, Stephen Wilson, Harry Butler, and Gordon Cooking. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial on Wednesday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Buford Gilmore

GILMORE, Buford Jackson, affectionately known and loved as “Plunk,” died peacefully at his home in Prattville, AL, on Friday, May 4, 2007, at the age of 77. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at 11:00 a.m., from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial, with Reverend Rodney Culpepper and Reverend Bryan Easley officiating. Burial will follow in Prattville Memory Gardens, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mr. Gilmore was a life-long resident of Autauga County, born on September 22, 1929. He honorably served his country as a Veteran of the United States Army, and in 1963, he and his brother, Huie Gilmore, co-founded the Gilmore Ford dealership in Prattville, AL; and up until his death, he remained a dedicated owner and operator. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who was preceded in death by his only daughter, Lisa Gilmore Reynolds; his mother and father, Onzelle and Jack Gilmore; one brother, Hubert Gilmore; one sister, Donna Banks; and three infant granddaughters, Shelby Alexis O’Connor, Lauren Ashley O’Connor, and Leah Katelyn O’Connor. Surviving to cherish his memories is his beloved wife of 53 years, Ann Ross Gilmore; granddaughter, Kayla O’Connor; step-grandchildren, Lauren Reynolds and Justin Reynolds; son-in-law, Mark Reynolds; brother, Huie Gilmore; sisters, Estelle Parker and Odelle Parker, and many nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers will be Stan Gilmore, Chris Gilmore, Tommy Gilmore, Clifford Ross, Stewart Banks, and Bob Herring. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark McCallister, Dave Storey, Mike Lowe, Milton Donovan, Winston Hollon, and all Employees of Gilmore Ford. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Tuesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
