Alabama, U.S., County Marriage Records, 1805-1967 - 1814-1935

Ardie C. Dewberry

BEATRICE - Ardie Calvin Dewberry, a native of Conecuh County who lived most of his life in Beatrice, died Monday at a local nursing facility. He was 71.

Survivors include a brother, J.B. Dewberry of Georgiana, Ala.; and four sisters, Martha Covin of Beatrice, Ethel Ross of Century, Fla., Mary Raines of Evergreen, Ala., and Daisey House of Bay Minette.

Services are set for 2 p.m. today at Johnson Funeral Home in Monroeville, Ala., with burial in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Lyeffion, Ala.

Creola S. Watts

BEATRICE - Creola S. Watts, a former longtime teacher, died Monday at a local nursing facility. She was 83.

Mrs. Watts, a resident of Beatrice, spent more than 35 years as a teacher before retiring.

She was a member of Sylvester Baptist Church of Beatrice, where she had been a Sunday school teacher.

Mrs. Watts received her high school education at the former Monroe County Training School, and graduated from Tuskegee University.

Her memberships include the NEA, AEA, ASTA and ARTA.

Among her survivors is her sister, Elnora Sheffield of Trenton, N.J.

Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Sylvester Baptist Church in Beatrice, with services at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Pineville Cemetery in Beatrice.

Arrangements are by Johnson Funeral Home of Monroeville.

Hayborn S. Hanks

GULF BREEZE, Fla. - Heyborn S. Hanks, a native of Monroe County, Ala., and a lifelong resident of Frisco City, died Friday in Gulf Breeze. He was 89.

Hanks is survived by a son, Harold R. Hanks of Pensacola; a daughter, Jeanette Schiely of Bedford Heights, Ohio; a brother, Willard Hanks of Mobile; and a sister, Blanche Borom of Monroeville.

Graveside services are set for 4 p.m. today at Shiloh Cemetery in Frisco City.

Johnson Funeral Home in Monroeville is in charge of arrangements.

Wilburn M. Wasden

PETERMAN - Wilburn Marion "Sonny" Wasden, who had worked as a welder in the construction industry, died Saturday. He was 42.

A native of Monroe County, Wasden resided in Peterman.

Survivors include his wife, Lee Ann Wasden; two sons, Derek Wasden and Justin Wasden; a daughter, Marilee Wasden, all of Peterman; three sisters, Eldora Jernigan of Fort Worth, Texas, Annice Cowart of Dawson, Ga., and Debra Tucker of Mary Esther, Fla.; and a grandson.

Services are set for 10 a.m. today at Monroeville First Baptist Church, with burial at Rumbley Cemetery in Peterman.

Johnson Funeral Home of Monroeville is in charge.

Harold L. Frye

Harold L. "Bo" Frye, a retiree of the Mobile Police Department, died Friday at a local hospital. He was 70.

Frye, a native of Monroeville, Ala., was a resident of Mobile. He spent 33 years in the Mobile police and fire communications departments.

Survivors include his wife, Sandy Frye of Mobile; a stepdaughter, Sandra E. Collier of Mobile; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

There will be no services. Arrangements were handled by Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street.

Mary C. Mitchell

ATMORE - Mary C. Mitchell, who had worked as a store clerk, died Wednesday at a hospital in Atmore. She was 43.

Ms. Mitchell, known affectionately as "Cat Baby" to family and friends, was a native of Monroe County and a resident of Atmore. She attended school in Escambia County.

Survivors include a daughter, Sandra R. Jackson of Atmore; her father, James Carl Mitchell Sr., and stepmother, Idela Pearl, both of Atmore; five sisters, Barbara Mitchell, Mary Alice Jewel Mitchell, Linda Crook, Annie Ruth Dailey and Deborah Bishop, all of Atmore; six brothers, John Hollinger, James Carl Mitchell Jr., Ben Mitchell and David Mitchell, all of Atmore, Robert Mitchell of Brewton, Ala., and Lloyd Mitchell of Monroeville; and three grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 1 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today at Turner Funeral Chapel in Atmore. Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Greater Mount Triumph Baptist Church in Atmore, with viewing one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Willie Odom

MEXIA - Willie Odom, a native of Sweet Water and resident of Mexia, died Monday at a local hospital. He was 65.

Odom was employed by Harrigan Lumber Co., where he was supervisor of the saw mill.

He is survived by his wife, Ollie Odom of Mexia; two sons, Willie Randall Odom of Frisco City and Christopher Scott Odom of Mexia; one daughter, Barbara Ann Hicks of Saraland; one stepson, Daniel Glenn of Monroeville; one stepdaughter, Lisa Legear of Monroeville; three brothers, Royce C. Odom and Wallace Odom, both of Thomasville, and Otis Odom of Citronelle; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. today at O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville. Burial will be in Choctaw Corner Cemetery in Thomasville.
