Frances Smithson Frances Dodson Smithson, 80, of North Little Rock, died Sept. 21, 2002. She was born Nov. 8, 1921, in Jacksonville. She was a long time volunteer for the American Red Cross and many other organizations. Survivors include husband, Colonel Claude Smithson; one son, John M. Smithson of North Little Rock; one sister, Amy Thomas of Sherwood; two brothers, Bert Dodson of Hot Springs, Albert Dodson of Jacksonville; two grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Graveside services, under the supervision of Roller-Owens Funeral Home were Tuesday, Sept. 24, at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, North Little Rock. Lonnie Collins Lonnie Marshall Collins, 86, of Augusta died Monday. Graveside services: 10 a.m. Thursday at the Augusta Memorial Park. Survivors: wife, Gladys Collins; two daughters, Diana June Kattmyer of Jacksonville, Peggy Wilson of McCrory; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. Wallace Wampler Retired Senior Master Sgt. Wallace Frederick Wampler, 78, of Jacksonville, died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2002. He was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Jacksonville. He was retired from the USAF, a veteran of World War II, and he flew multiple missions during the European Theatre, Pacific Theatre, and Berlin Airlift. Survivors include one son, Steve Wampler of Perryville; two daughters, Phyllis Hieber of Little Rock and Jan Bottoms of Alexander; sister, Gay Montgomery of Boaz, Ala.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Lonnie Crowder Lonnie Eugene "Gene" Crowder, of Ward, born July 16, 1931, died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002. He is survived by three sons, Doug Crowder of Little Rock, Danny Crowder of Cabot, Lonnie Crowder of Little Rock; four daughters, Martha Reid of Ward, Phyllis Taylor of Sheridan, Kathy Knowles of Beebe, Sharon Pledger of Sheridan; 13 brothers and sisters; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were Dec. 14, at Sylvania Presbyterian Church with interment in Sylvania Cemetery. Arrangements by Cabot Funeral Home. Janet M. Eagle Janet Mashburn Eagle passed away Dec. 15, 2002. She was born Oct. 3, 1925. She was preceded in death by Judge Lewis A. Mashburn and Catheron Mashburn of Little Rock, her parents. Mrs. Eagle graduated from Hendrix College in 1946. She was gifted with a musical talent and with a natural beauty. She was chosen as Miss Little Rock in 1946. She and Lieutenant Joe N. (Bo) Eagle of Lonoke were married Nov. 29, 1946. They have three children, James N. Eagle II of Monterey, Calif., his wife Maj-Britt, their children Nathan and Claire Eagle; a second son, Gene Eagle of North Little Rock, his wife Doris, his children Lauren and John Eagle. She is also survived by their daughter, Catheron and husband, Bill Oviatt, of Lander, Wyo., their children, Qwenton, Hollyn and Ben Oviatt. Mrs. Eagle is also survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Patsy and Gip Robertson, of North Little Rock. Mrs. Eagle taught elementary and junior high school in Quantico, Va., teaching music as well as being the chapel music director. She was a music and choir director, and also taught piano to children and adults alike, at every station while her husband served in the Marine Corps. Mrs. Eagle was also the choir director for many years in the First United Methodist Church upon their return to Lonoke. Family will receive friends Dec. 18, 2002 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Boyd Funeral Home. Funeral services will be in the Lonoke First United Methodist Church at 10:30 a.m., Dec. 19, 2002.
