Frances Smithson
Frances Dodson Smithson, 80, of North Little Rock, died Sept. 21, 2002.
She was born Nov. 8, 1921, in Jacksonville.
She was a long time volunteer for the American Red Cross and many other
organizations.
Survivors include husband, Colonel Claude Smithson; one son, John M.
Smithson of North Little Rock; one sister, Amy Thomas of Sherwood; two
brothers, Bert Dodson of Hot Springs, Albert Dodson of Jacksonville; two
grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Graveside services, under the supervision of Roller-Owens Funeral Home
were Tuesday, Sept. 24, at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, North
Little Rock.
Lonnie Collins
Lonnie Marshall Collins, 86, of Augusta died Monday.
Graveside services: 10 a.m. Thursday at the Augusta Memorial Park.
Survivors: wife, Gladys Collins; two daughters, Diana June Kattmyer of
Jacksonville, Peggy Wilson of McCrory; three grandchildren; four
great-grandchildren.
Wallace Wampler
Retired Senior Master Sgt. Wallace Frederick Wampler, 78, of Jacksonville,
died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2002.
He was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Jacksonville. He was
retired from the USAF, a veteran of World War II, and he flew multiple
missions during the European Theatre, Pacific Theatre, and Berlin Airlift.
Survivors include one son, Steve Wampler of Perryville; two daughters, Phyllis
Hieber of Little Rock and Jan Bottoms of Alexander; sister, Gay Montgomery
of Boaz, Ala.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Sept. 25, at the Second Baptist Church, in Jacksonville.
Entombment followed in Chapel Hill Memorial Park.

Johanna S. Garner
Johanna S. Garner, age 65, of Jacksonville died Sept. 24, 2002.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jacksonville, and teacher of
the Winsome Sunday School Class.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Billie D. Garner; three daughters,
Linda Bouillon, Sharon Fielding, Pat Denison of Jacksonville; brother, Jim Staat
of South Holland, Ill.; two sisters, Marie Morrill of Dalton Ill., Alberta
Bednarcik of LeMont, Ill.; four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, 2002, at the First
Baptist Church in Jacksonville. Burial will be 2 p.m. in Garner Cemetery in
Fordyce, following the service.

Lonnie Crowder
Lonnie Eugene "Gene" Crowder, of Ward, born July 16, 1931, died
Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002.
He is survived by three sons, Doug Crowder of Little Rock, Danny Crowder of
Cabot, Lonnie Crowder of Little Rock; four daughters, Martha Reid of Ward,
Phyllis Taylor of Sheridan, Kathy Knowles of Beebe, Sharon Pledger of
Sheridan; 13 brothers and sisters; 14 grandchildren; and 18
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Dec. 14, at Sylvania Presbyterian Church with

Janet M. Eagle
Janet Mashburn Eagle passed away Dec. 15, 2002. She was born Oct. 3,
1925. She was preceded in death by Judge Lewis A. Mashburn and Catheron
Mashburn of Little Rock, her parents.
Mrs. Eagle graduated from Hendrix College in 1946. She was gifted with a
musical talent and with a natural beauty. She was chosen as Miss Little Rock
in 1946.
She and Lieutenant Joe N. (Bo) Eagle of Lonoke were married Nov. 29, 1946.
They have three children, James N. Eagle II of Monterey, Calif., his wife
Maj-Britt, their children Nathan and Claire Eagle; a second son, Gene Eagle of
North Little Rock, his wife Doris, his children Lauren and John Eagle. She is
also survived by their daughter, Catheron and husband, Bill Oviatt, of Lander,
Wyo., their children, Qwenton, Hollyn and Ben Oviatt. Mrs. Eagle is also
survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Patsy and Gip Robertson, of North
Little Rock.
Mrs. Eagle taught elementary and junior high school in Quantico, Va., teaching
music as well as being the chapel music director. She was a music and choir
director, and also taught piano to children and adults alike, at every station
while her husband served in the Marine Corps. Mrs. Eagle was also the choir
director for many years in the First United Methodist Church upon their return
to Lonoke.
Family will receive friends Dec. 18, 2002 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Boyd
Funeral Home. Funeral services will be in the Lonoke First United Methodist
Church at 10:30 a.m., Dec. 19, 2002. Pallbearers include Fletcher Jackson,
Stephen Smith, Rick Bransford, Mac Bennett, Neil Bennett, Jr., and John Tull,
III.

James Bulthuis
James Bulthuis, age 73, of Bryant died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2002.
He was a retired manager at ATT, served in the Army and was a member of
St. Theresa's Catholic Church.
He is survived by two sons, Keith Bulthuis of Bryant and Nicholas Bulthuis of
Forest Park, Ill.; three daughters, Cynthia Hatak of Bryant, Sharon Ahls of
Benton and Tammy Tanner of Ward; seven grandchildren and four
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services, by Ashby Funeral Home, were Wednesday at St. Theresa s
Catholic Church. Graveside service was at the St. Adalbert Cemetery in
Chicago.

Ernestine Flake, 76, of North Little Rock died Friday, Dec. 13, 2002.
She was born July 30, 1926, in Austin. She was a member of the 6th & Izard
Church of Christ in Little Rock.
She is survived by her daughter, Rita Taggart of Little Rock; three
granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jean Patton of North
Little Rock.
Funeral services were Dec. 17, at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home Chapel in
Conway with burial in Cypress Valley Cemetery in Vilonia.

Connie Mildred Fincher, age 91, of Little Rock, died Dec. 10, 2002.
She is survived by her daughter, Onedia Finch, of Batesville; one sister,
Avanell Reeves, of Warren; two brothers, Dean Palmer, of Pine Bluff and C.
T. Palmer of Jacksonville; five grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, and
seven great-great-grandchildren.
A gathering in remembrance of Mrs. Fincher was held Dec. 13, at the Chapel

was in Mt. Springs Cemetery in Cabot.

Hazel L. Arthur, age 76, of Austin, died Monday, Dec. 9, 2002.

grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Thelma Lorene Brown, 75, of Cabot, born Sept. 7, 1927, died Dec. 12, 2002 at
Rebsamen Medical Center.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Thelma Clubb; her
husband, Jake Byrd Brown; and two sons, Jake Brown Jr. and Waymond Leo
Brown.
She is survived by four daughters, Ethel Wood, Ginger Tygart, Kathy Gibson
and Susie Gabbard, all of Cabot; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and
several nieces and nephews.

Helen Ruth Kerr, 77, of Sherwood died Dec. 12, 2002.

He served 26 years in the U.S. Air Force.

Maurine Edwards Burns, 80, of Austin, died Friday, Dec. 13, 2002.
She was a member of the Oak Church of Christ and a lifetime member of
Woodrow Church of Christ. She was retired from Timex Corporation. She was
a member of the 16th Section Good Neighbors Club, El Paso Homemakers
Extension Club and the Lonoke County Women's Democratic Club.
Survivors are two daughters, Phyllis Breckenridge of El Paso and Debbie
Patrom of Austin; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Dowell Edward Horsman, 82, of Cabot, formerly of Imboden, died Dec. 11,
2002.
He was a member of the Clearsprings Baptist Church in Black Rock, a lifetime
member of the DAV and served in the Army in World War II. He was a
self-employed mobile home dealer.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Horsman; sisters, Helen Mathews and Lelah
Jones, both of Imboden; a brother, Jewell Horsman of Imboden; daughters,
Betty Luzini of Santa Rosa, Calif., Linda Reeves of Arlington, Texas, Sheryl
Cooper of Greers Ferry, Cindy Bagwell of Cabot, Brenda Garcia of Cabot and
Dianna Giger of Cabot; 17 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Doris L. "Babe" Siegrist, age 81, of Austin, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002.
She is survived by one son, Roy Siegrist of Grand Prairie, Texas; one daughter,
Jean White of Austin; one brother, Frances Maska of Colorado Springs, Colo.;
one sister, Ann Le LaFevre of Boise, Idaho; six grandchildren; and five
great-grandchildren.

Delores Elaine Hunt, 72, of Jacksonville died Feb. 1, 2003.
She was a member of McArthur Assembly of God Church in Jacksonville.

Michael Di-Angelo Mathews, 37, died Jan. 12, 2003.
He attended the Jacksonville and Little Rock Public Schools.

James Pridmore Jr.
James Nolan Pridmore Jr., of Jacksonville, born Oct. 9, 1929, died, Feb. 2,
2003.
He was a member of Landmark Baptist Church in Jacksonville. He was a
Korean War Vet. He worked for Union National Bank for 43 years, starting in
bookkeeping and retiring as a vice president.
Survivors are two sons, James Lee Pridmore of Conway and Stephen Michael
Pridmore of Jacksonville; 3 grandchildren; and a half-sister, Dorothy Anita
Simpson.
A celebration of his life was held Wednesday, Feb. 5, at Griffin-Leggett-Rest
Hills funeral home, North Little Rock. Interment was in Bayou Meto Cemetery
in Jacksonville.

Eastern Star for 50 years, and of Baseline Missionary Baptist Church for 43
years.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, P.J. Ellis; three sons, Paul Ellis,
