Bokeui Hwang

Bokeui Hwang, of Bentonville, passed away peacefully on January 23rd, 2018. She was 87 years old.

She was born in Japan in October of 1930 and moved to her native country of South Korea in 1945 after end of WW II. She later married and had three children. In 2008 she moved to U.S to be with her daughter.

She is survived by her daughter Miyoung Kong of Pusan, South Korea; daughter and son-in-law Sunny and Stephen McClain of Bentonville; and son Junghee Kong of Pusan, South Korea; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and five younger siblings.

Visitation will be Saturday from 10am to 1pm at Epting Funeral Home located at 709 North Walton Blvd. in Bentonville. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Benton County Senior Activity Center, 3501 Southeast “L” Street in Bentonville Arkansas 72712.

Kenneth D. Smith

Kenneth D. Smith, 77, of Rogers passed away January 21 in his home. He was born June 1, 1940 to Oriel and Eula Smith in Creston, Iowa.

He had lived in the Northwest Arkansas area since 1985, and was a member of the Bentonville Church of Christ.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jean Ann of over 42 years, two brothers: Don Smith and Carroll Smith, and a sister, Shirley Smith.

Survivors include four children: Roger Smith (Anna Anderson) of Temple, TX, Rodrick Smith of Tulsa, OK, Randall Smith of Rogers, and Korey Smith of Rogers; seven grandchildren: Caroline Anderson, Alexis Smith, Tommy Anderson, Arian Smith, Brady Smith, Kristin Collins, and Jordyn Collins.

Visitation will be Tuesday, January 23 at 11am until 1pm at Epting Funeral Home of Bentonville.

Funeral Service and placement of cremated remains with Military Honors will be Thursday, January 25 at 2pm at Fayetteville National Cemetery in Fayetteville, AR.

Virginia "Ginger" Fritch

Virginia "Ginger" Fritch was born in Decatur, Ar. Nov. 5, 1934 to John and Eunice Webb. She passed away on Jan. 20, 2018 in Prairie Grove, Ar. She was proceeded in death by her parents and 2 sisters. She is survived by her loving husband Carl Fritch of the home. 2 daughters Kathie Jackson of Winslow, Ar, Hovette (Robert) Ellis of Ca. 2 sons Blaine Schulze (Carrie) of Evansville Ar. and Kelly Schulze (Virginia) of Fl. 1 step son Bob Fritch (Paula) of Winters Ca., five Sisters, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. Memorial service will be at 2:00pm on Saturday 27th at the Winslow First Baptist Church in Winslow. The Ladies of the Church will serve lunch 12:00-12:30 at the church for the family.

Interment will by at Parks Cemetery East of Winslow Ar.

Lora Lynn Cartwright II

Lora Lynn Cartwright II, 70, of Rogers died Friday, January 05, 2018 at a local skilled care center. She was born June 21, 1947 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin the daughter of Velma Zimmerman and Elmer Hamann.

She enjoyed spending quality time with her grandchildren, and loved doing all kinds of crafts, and playing with her pets, known as her Fur Babies.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, and four brothers.

Lora is survived by: her husband; Von Cartwright II, three sons; Jeffery Mier, Daniel Mier, Mark Mier, two daughters; Rebekah Thomas, Megann Cartwright, and 7 grandchildren that were her Pride and Joy in life.

A celebration of Lora’s life will be Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 2pm at Word of Life Fellowship, located at 808 Southwest 14th Street, in Bentonville.

Richard Lee Hopkins

Richard Lee Hopkins, 63, of Bella Vista died Thursday, January 04, 2018 at his residence. He was born September 17, 1954 in Lake Charles, Louisiana the son of Ruth Elaine King and Charles Hollis Hopkins.

He was a banker for many years. He loved Jesus, fishing, baseball with his grandson, and loved spending time outdoors. He was preceded in death by: his parents, and three siblings.

Richard is survived by: one son; Eric Hopkins and his wife Chandrika, of Oman, three daughters; Erin Hopkins, of Pineville, Missouri, Alissa Larkin and Dana, of Bella Vista, Kyra Pantall and her husband Jonathan, of Rogers, three brothers; Duane Hopkins and his wife Deb, of Freemont, Michigan, Terry Hopkins, of Freemont, Michigan, Mike Hopkins and his wife Michelle, of Freemont, Michigan, one sister; Marianne Chilcote and her husband Dave, of Twin Lakes, Michigan, and five grandchildren.

Services will be at a later date in Michigan.

Memorials may be sent to: The Arkansas Children’s Hospital.

Eden Henry

Eden Henry, the precious, sweet daughter of Lisa and Jared Henry of Centerton, Arkansas, returned to the arms of our Savior on January 1, 2018. From the moment of her birth on August 19, 2016, Eden became the center of her parent's world. Her ever-sharing happy disposition, curiosity, and affection touched the lives of her loving extended family and friends alike. Music, of any kind, would start her rocking and dancing around the room. Eden is forever in our hearts until we join her in heaven and once again see her beautiful blue eyes and hold her in our arms, never again to part.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, January 6, 2018, 11:00am at the LDS Centerton 2nd Ward Chapel, 950 Seba Road, Centerton, Arkansas. She will be laid to rest at the Bentonville Cemetery.

Dana Karol Welty Kappen

Dana Karol Welty Kappen, 51, of Rogers died Friday, May 25, 2018 at Northwest Medical Center located in Springdale. She was born January 4, 1967 in Hobbs, New Mexico, the daughter of Koenia Palmer and Wayne Welty.

She graduated from Rogers High School in 1985 where she excelled playing the saxophone and loved playing in the Jazz Band. She was also member and past-president of the Key Club.

She obtained a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Arkansas in Mathematics and her Master’s Degree in School Counseling from John Brown University.

She was a teacher for many years, beginning her career in 1990 at Siloam Springs Junior High School. She taught Mathematics at Oakdale Junior High in Rogers where she was a faculty sponsor of both FCA and Odyssey of the Mind. She completed her teaching career at Lingle Middle School located in Rogers.

Dana was an active member of First Baptist Rogers, where she worked with the College and Careers Life Group for many years, and has served faithfully as greeter at the Friday Community Meal served at the church where she enjoyed visiting and ministering to those who were served weekly. She loved traveling especially to Santa Fe, New Mexico, and many other places. Dana loved to go on cruises and spend quality time with her family.

Dana is survived by “The joy of her life” one daughter, Erica Kappen, of Rogers; her parents, Koenia and Wayne Welty, of Rogers; one sister, Lisa Auten and her husband Trey, of Rogers; the father of her child, Eric Kappen, of Bella Vista; her faithful companion of 13 years, Bill Moore, of Rogers; one niece, Emily Auten, of Rogers; her maternal grandparents, Vida and Patrick F. Palmer, of Texas; her aunts and uncles, Vanessa Engeldahl, of Texas; Pamela Fritz and her husband Eric, of Colorado; Tamara DeGraffenried and her husband, Doug, of Louisiana; Scott Palmer and his wife Donna, of Texas; Randall and Shirley Welty, of New Mexico; Connie Welty, of New Mexico, many cousins, including Becky Welty, of New Mexico, and many other extended family and friends.

Visitation will be: Tuesday from 6-8 pm at First Baptist Rogers located on Pleasant Grove Road.

Funeral service will be: Wednesday at 10:30 am at First Baptist Rogers located on Pleasant Grove Road with Pastor Wes George and Pastor Mark Maier officiating. Interment will be at Pinnacle Memorial Gardens located in Rogers.

Memorials may be sent to: First Baptist Rogers to the “Community Meal.”
