Betty Dibble

Betty Jane Dibble, 90, of Bella Vista, Arkansas passed away at Concordia Retirement Center on August 2, 2012. She was born in Belle Plaine, Kansas, to Joseph Ingram and Myrtle Mary Peddecord.

She is survived by two sons, Kim Dibble, of Scottsdale, Arizona and Tim and Alice Dibble of Westerville, Ohio. She is also survived many nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Wiley Dibble, parents, and siblings, Paul, Earle, Ralph, Ronnie, Thelma, Dorris, Ruth, Wanda Faye.

Memorial service is Saturday, August, 11, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Bella Vista.

Sidney Hoffman

Sidney “Sid” Charles Hoffman, 97, of Rogers, Arkansas died Monday, July 30, 2012 at his daughter’s home.

He was born May 2, 1915 in Tremont, Illinois the son of the late George and Leah (Suchert) Hoffman. He married his childhood sweetheart, Betty Schaefer, in Tremont. Betty died a few weeks after their sixty year wedding anniversary in July 2000. Together, they had three daughters.

He was employed by Fisher Controls Intl. (now Emerson) for 21 years and retired as Manager of Finance. He enjoyed boating, golf, and watching the stock market. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in downtown Rogers, Arkansas. He was a founding member of the Colorado Springs Argonauts.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Hoffman; one daughter, Jeanette Bloom; his parents; and one sister, Virginia Gardner.

Sidney is survived by two daughters, Judy Cowan and her husband, Bob, of Rogers, Arkansas and Joy Harned and her husband, Dr. Gerald, of Estero, Florida; son-in-law, Dr. Gary Bloom, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; eight grandchildren, Christina Bloom, Michelle Bloom, Michael Bloom and his wife, Heather, all of Colorado, Susan Gage of Springdale, Arkansas, Margaret “Molly” Cook and her husband, Jeff, of Rogers, Arkansas, Nicholas Harned and his wife, Sandra, and Allison Harned and her fiancé, Brian Hannan, all of Chicago, Illinois, and Benjamin Harned and his wife, Christine, of Port Washington, Wisconsin; and seven great grandchildren, Margaret “Maggie” Cook, Jackson Harned, Charlie and Natalie Joy “Tilly” Harned, and Branden, Ryan, and Jacob Bloom.

Jacob was born on Sid’s birthday. He is also survived by one sister, Joyce Naffziger, of Tremont, Illinois and several nieces and nephews and extended family.

Funeral service will be Friday, August 3, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Davis Mortuary in Tremont, Illinois with Rev. Sandra Wanasek officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Tremont, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Circle of Life Hospice, 901 Jones Rd., Springdale, Arkansas 72762.

Patricia Spooner

Patricia Spooner, 61, of Sulphur Springs, Arkansas died Thursday, July 26, 2012. She was born July 11, 1951 in Chicago, Illinois.

She loved cats and horses.

She is survived by her husband, Michael Spooner; mother, Charlotte; son, Michael; daughter, Tina; three brothers; and one sister.

John Brubaker

John (Jack) Brubaker, age 74 passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale, Arkansas after a long battle with Myasthenia Gravis.

Jack was born on December 27, 1937 in Wichita, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents. Jack grew up in Lawton, Oklahoma, graduated from Lawton High School and served in the United States Air Force from 1956-1960.

Jack is survived by his wife of 31 years, Maxine (Micki) Admire who resides in Bella Vista, AR. Surviving children are Debbie Plaskett, her husband, Don of Lee’s Summit, MO; Jay Brubaker, his wife, Debbie of Webb City, MO; Chris Bartlett of Joplin, MO; Lanie Ball of Bella Vista, AR and Brad McMurray, his wife, Lisa of Winona, MO. Jack is survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Bill Brubaker of Denver, CO.

Jack lived a full and wonderful life. He was an avid golfer, and at one time was the captain of the Horton Smith team. Jack was considered one of the best amateur golfers in the four state area. Jack was very active in sports, having coached little league baseball teams in Joplin as well as spending many years umpiring softball leagues and officiating at high school football games.

Jack was very active with the Joplin Elks Lodge and served as the Exalted Ruler in 1979 and 1980. In addition, Jack served as President of the Lion’s Club in Greenville, NC. Jack was a beloved successful businessman, having owned AAMCO Dealerships in both New Bern and Greenville, North Carolina. On television and radio commercials, he was fondly known as “Grandpa Jack.”

Throughout his life, his faith was important to him and he enjoyed attending services. His family adored him, his children loved him, his friends looked up to him, his colleagues admired him and he will be dearly missed by all. Our faith in Jesus Christ assures us that this is indeed not “goodbye” but “we’ll see you later.”

To our dear friends in Greenville, North Carolina and Bella Vista, Arkansas in lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Circle of Life Hospice, 901 Jones Road, in Springdale, Arkansas and our dear friends in Joplin, Missouri please make contributions to the Joplin Elks Lodge.

Mary Scherz

Mary G. Scherz, 79, entered into the presence of the Lord on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at Circle of Life Hospice in Legacy Village, Bentonville, Arkansas, surrounded by her family following a lengthy illness. Mary was born on September 18, 1932 to Col. Glenn and Estelle Harbin in Cullman, Alabama. Mary loved decorating, jewelry and art, and served as COO of M Scherz, Inc. She loved the Lord and was involved in Fellowship Bible Church Little Rock and Fellowship Bible Church Northwest Arkansas.

She was married for almost 60 years to Marvin L. Scherz. They were blessed with two children, a son, Donald “Skip” (Barbara) Scherz and a daughter, Marsha (John) Phillips, four grandchildren, Chris (Amy) Scherz, Laura (Pinky) Jansen, Jonathan (Shayla Turner) Holder and Elliot (Cassie) Holder, and two great grandchildren, Bently Scherz and Averie Turner. She is also survived by a brother, James Harbin.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Dr. Thadeus Beck, Highlands Oncology Group, and the staff of Circle of Life at Legacy Village, Bentonville.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 31, at 10:00 am in the Training Center Chapel at Fellowship Bible Church of Northwest Arkansas followed by internment at Bentonville Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials should be made to the Circle of Life Hospice at Legacy Village, 900 NE Verdant, Bentonville, AR 72712.

Ranea Towler

Ranea Michelle Towler, 46, of Farmington, Arkansas died Tuesday, July 24, 2012. She was born May 11, 1966 in Rogers.

She was preceded by her grandparents and one uncle.

Ranea is survived by her parents, fiancé, daughter, brother, and sisters.

Memorial service will be on Saturday, July 28 at 2:00 p.m. at Daystar Church of God in Rogers.
