Obie Taunton
Tuesday, February 20, 2007
Obie Taunton, age 94, of Ash Flat died Feb. 16, 2007, at Fulton County Hospital in Salem. He was born March 31, 1912, in West Bay, Fla.
He was united in marriage to Pauline Glenn on Sept. 3, 1965, in Lynn Haven, Fla. She preceded him in death on Jan. 14, 2007. He was a retired Pentecostal minister.
Survivors include three daughters: Laverne Mullen of Cherokee Village, Laurel English of Hart, Texas, and Geannise Knox of Houston, Texas; one son, Glen Havis of Plainview, Texas; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Feb. 23 at Southern Funeral Home in Lynn Haven, Fla. Local arrangements are under direction of Higginbotham Funeral Service in Hardy.

Mary Louise Smith

Mary Louise (Willie) Smith, age 80, of Cave City, died Feb. 12, 2007, at her home. She was born Dec. 17, 1926, at Union City Tenn., the daughter of Bernie and Lily (Jackson) Willie. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Jimmie Ray Smith Jr.; and one brother, Jay Willie.
Survivors include: her husband of 31 years, Jimmie Ray Smith, Sr.; two sons, Pat McCarron of Conway and Dan McCarron of Batesville; nine daughters, Jeanie Dobbs of Springtown, Texas, Rose Smith of Fort Worth, Texas, Eva Luster of Batesville, Peggy Mooreland of Graham, Texas, Sadie Palmer of Bald Knob, Cindi and Audrey Holowell of Mount Pleasant; 29 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; several nieces; and nephews and host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services were held Feb. 15 at the Maxville cemetery located north of Cave City with Bro. Bruce Qualls officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of the Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
Pallbearers were Jim Smith, Terry St. John, Dr. Michael Wilson, Dub Evans, Bill Robins and Carl Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers were Vernon Gann, Dr. Andy Davidson and Dr. Margaret Kuykendall.

Lowell Roscoe Kinder

Lowell Roscoe Kinder, 71, of Centerton, Ark., died Feb.16, 2007, at Regency Hospital in Springdale, Ark. He was born June 29, 1935. in Sturkie, Ark., to Thomas Roscoe and Leona Grace (Ball) Kinder.
He was united in marriage to Berta Jean (Hammond) Kinder on July 9, 1953. To this union five children were born: Ronald Gale Kinder, Debra Jean Kinder, Steven Royce Kinder, Richard Dean Kinder and Linda Carol (Kinder) Rohrbach.
He graduated from Salem High School and attended business college in Kansas City. After retiring from Wal-Mart, as director of TBA in 1989, he enjoyed spending special time with his family, playing music, hunting depression glass and fishing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: one infant daughter, Debra Jean Kinder; his father; two brothers, Paul Dean Kinder and James Robert (Bobby) Kinder.
Survivors include: his wife, Berta; his mother, Grace Kinder of West Plains; three sons, Ronald and Sheila Kinder of Olathe, Kan.; Steven and Robin Kinder of Bentonville, Ark.; Richard and Tina Kinder, Bella Vista, Ark.; one daughter, Linda and Kenny Rohrbach, Centerton, Ark.; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; four sisters, Vera Bassham and Lenora Coleman, Salem; Joyce Holloway, West Plains; Janiece Booth, Cherokee Village; five brothers Boyd Kinder, Sturkie; Neal Kinder of Salem; Leo Kinder, Tulare, Calif.; Rollin Kinder and Gaylon Kinder, West Plains, Mo; several nieces; nephews; and great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ in Bella Vista Feb. 20 with Bro. Randall Caselman officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Callison-Lough Funeral Home of Rogers.
Pallbearers were his grandchildren: Rachel and Mike Willard; Amy Kinder; Steven and Jennifer Kinder; Tracy and Butch Latham; Jimmy Rohrbach; Christina Kinder; Sarah and Andy Beccard; Lindsey Rohrbach and Sheryl Kinder.

Kitty Joe Harry

Kitty Joe Harry, daughter of the late Luther Walker and Irene Butler Walker, was born, Feb. 7, 1923, at Armorel, Ark. She died Feb. 16, 2007, at Fulton County Hospital in Salem, at the age of 84 years.
She was united in marriage to Harold Reginald Harry In March, 1937, at Armorel, Ark. To this union, four children were born. She was a homemaker and she was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by: her daughters and sons-in-law, Norma Jean and Steve Gillaspy of Glencoe and Patricia Ann and Buddy Nelson of Dowagic, Mich.; her sons and daughters-in-law, Reginald Joe and Harriet Harry of Cave City and Luther Allen and Uschi Harry of Watervilet, Mich.; 13 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by: her husband in 1986; her sister, Maxine Lopez; a granddaughter, Charlotte (Sissy) Nelson; a grandson, Richard Allen Nelson; and her father and mother.
Services were held Feb. 19 at Cox-Blevins Chapel with burial in Salem cemetery under the direction of Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem.

Glen Garrison

Glen Garrison, age 64, of Hardy, formerly of Cabot, died Feb. 17, 2007, at Fulton County Hospital in Salem. He was born Dec. 12, 1942, at Memphis, Tenn., the son of James and Pearl Barrett Garrison.
He was united in marriage to Mary Rice on Nov. 26, 1964, in Helena, Ark.
He was a carpenter/motel owner and a member of the Ward Street Church of Christ in Hardy.
Survivors include: his wife, Mary Garrison of the home; two daughters, Kimberly Burkes of Senatobia, Mich. and Lynn Smith of Mariana, Ark.; six brothers, James Garrison of Clarksdale, Miss., Grady Garrison, Kenneth Garrison and Charles Garrison of West Helena, Ark., Winston Garrison of Turner, Ark. and Danny Garrison of Myrtle, Mo.; five grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Feb. 20 at the Ward Street Church of Christ in Hardy with Tom ONeal Officiating. Burial followed in the Baker cemetery under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Home in Hardy.

Clayton Dissinger

Clayton I. Dissinger, 86, of Williford, died Feb. 15, 2007, at the White River Medical Center in Batesville. Dissinger was born March 18, 1920, in Bouton, Iowa, the son of John I. Dissinger and Alice (Kraus) Dissinger.
He was a graduate of Iowa State College with a degree in electrical engineering. He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during World War II. He moved to Cherokee Village in 1998 from Iowa.
He was united in marriage o Brenda whithead on June 5, 1999, at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Cherokee Village. Dissinger was a member of the American Legion and VFW and served as a firefighter for over 50 years. He was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Dissinger, and one sister, Ruth Undervich.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Ruth; and his daughter Elizabeth.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements were under the direction of Tri-County Funeral Home in Highland.

Carl David Godwin

Carl David Godwin, of Salem, son of the late Ransom Elijah and Martila (Horton) Godwin, was born April 8, 1925, at Ash Flat, He died Feb. 13, 2007, at the Fulton County Hospital in Salem at the age of 81.
He was united in marriage to Trellis Lorene Blankenship on Feb. 5, 1945, at Evening Shade, and to this union three children were born. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He spent his working years as a truck driver and was a member of the Salem First Baptist Church.
Survivors include: two sons, Dowl Godwin (Lynda) of Salem, and Dale Godwin (Connie) of Agnos; a daughter, Alice Carlene Jones (Wiley) of Melbourne; two brothers, Shelby Godwin of Udal, Kan., and Curtis Godwin of Spokane, Wash.; two sisters, Ruby Hasting of East Wenatchee, Wash., and Jackie Lou Arnold of Grand Coulee, Wash.; six grandchildren, Shelly Johnson Kelly Reed, Carrie Bates, Michelle Vest, Leslie Johnson and Lisa LeJeune; nine great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; a brother, Elijah Godwin; and a sister, Winnie Bell Evans.
Funeral services were held Feb. 16 at the Salem First Baptist Church with Bro. John Hodges officiating. Burial followed in the Manry cemetery in Agnos with the arrangements under the direction of Barker Funeral Home of Salem.
Pallbearers were Darren Bates, Jeff Johnson, Michael Vest, Raymond LeJeune, Eric Hurst and Tony Blankenship.
Memorials preferred to the Manry cemetery or Salem First Baptist Church building fund.
