Edward Hudson

Edward (Buddy) Hudson, 74, of Knoxville died Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at Little Rock.

He was a native of St. Charles, son of the late Leo and Gracie Arnold Hudson, commercial fisherman, and preceded in death by two sisters, Louise Hudson and Mary Harris.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Hudson; three sons, Eddie (Janice) Hudson of Jacksonville, Ronnie (Sherry) Hudson of Charlotte, N.C. and Jimmy (Cindy) Hudson of Knoxville; one sister, Elsie Lockard of North Little Rock; one brother, Charles Hudson of London; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The body was cremated under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Fred L. Curtis

Fred Livingston Curtis, 77, of Jasper, died Thursday, June 11, 2009, at Fayetteville.

He was a native of Walnut, son of the late Charles Augustus and Dora Mae White Curtis, farmer, and was preceded in death by an infant daughter; infant son; four sisters, Sally, Louise, Wynona and Sue; two brothers, Jack Clifford Curtis and Leroy Gene Curtis; one half-brother, Beecher Nunn; and an infant granddaughter, Amanda Stepp.

Survivors include six daughters, Connie Sue Curtis, Millissa Ann Curtis, and Linda Carol Curtis, all of Jasper, Joetta Eileen (Kenny) Frazier of Fayetteville, Beverley Kay (Vernon) Stepp of Fallsville, and Shelly Lynn (Randall) Seymore of Batesville; two sons, Darl Livingston Curtis of Winslow and Earl Wilburn Curtis of Gentry; 20 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services and burial were at 2 p.m. Monday, June 15, at Walnut cemetery with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers were Earl Curtis, Darl Curtis, Robin Curtis, Zach Seymore, Kevin Stepp, Vernon Stepp, Roy Stepp, and Steven Stepp.

Honorary pallbearers were Bobby Frazier and Randall Seymore.

Johnie Lenora Askins

Johnie Lenora Askins, 94, of Rogers died Sunday, June 14, 2009, at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale.

She was born Feb. 16, 1915, in Spadra to John and Bertie McAnally Horner, widow of Varnell Askins, retired dental assistant, resident of Johnson County until 1994, and was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

Survivors include two sons, Horner Askins and wife, Judy, of Springfield, Mo., and Bob Askins and wife, Cindy, of Rogers; three grandchildren, Twyla Lindsey and husband, Rod, of Greensboro, N.C., Tina Kellerstrass and husband, Mike, of Springfield, Mo., and Joseph Askins of Chicago, Ill.; and five great-grandchildren, Madison, Tanner, and Matthew Kellerstrass of Springfield, Mo., and Taylor and Jewelia Lindsey of Greensboro, N.C.

Graveside services and burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 19, at Oakland cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Miller Place Senior Complex Food Bank Fund, c/o Loretta Williams, 2012 S. 13th St., Rogers, AR 72758.

LaQuita J. Cowell

LaQuita J. Cowell, 73, of Hartman died Friday, June 12, 2009, at her home.

She was born at Spadra, daughter of Earl and Bonnie Bishop Ralph, graduate of Hartman High School, member of Westside Full Gospel Church, licensed practical nurse, emergency medical technician and respiratory therapist, and was preceded in death by one son, Joey Don Betnar; two brothers, Bob and Harold Ralph; and two sisters, Janice Hatfield and Joan Holt.

Survivors include her husband, Ray Cowell; one daughter, Candi Hamilton of Hector; one son, Terry Betnar of Clarksville; two stepsons, Sherman Cowell of Coal Hill and James Cowell of Ozark; one sister, Sue Hurtt of Alix; four brothers, Mike Ralph of Hartman, Jimmy Ralph and Bill Ralph, both of Clarksville, and Gary Ralph of Houston, Texas; eight grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, June 15, at Westside Full Gospel Church with Rev. J. W. McEntyre and Rev. David Zeiler officiating.

Burial was in Spadra cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were David Raburn, Harold Dixon, Dale Wood, Gwen Woods, Dakota Beeson, and Allen Hurtt.

Lorene Scoggins

Lorene Scoggins, 89, of Clarksville died Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at Clarksville Health and Rehab.

She was a native of Clarksville, daughter of the late William Hugh and Alice Nancy King Selby, widow of Russell Scoggins, and member of East Mount Zion Trinity Baptist Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Carol Langdon and husband, Dwain, of Ozone; three sons, Jerry Scoggins and wife, Eddie Mae, and Keith Scoggins and wife, Debbie, all of Clarksville, and Jim Scoggins and wife, Donna, of Alma; one sister, Ernestine Turner of Clarksville; grandchildren, Phillip Scoggins of Little Rock, Randall and Teresa Scoggins of Belleview, Neb., Richard and Cara Flinn of Hagarville, Scott and Nancy Langdon of Alma, Angela Beck of Clarksville, Jennifer Scoggins and Kimberley Scoggins, both of Mooresville, N. C., Russell Scoggins and Erin Scoggins, both of Alma, and Lacy Scoggins of Jeffersonville, Ind.; and great-grandchildren, Christopher and Robin Scoggins of Belleview, Neb., Brittney Flinn of Fayetteville, Kelsey Flinn of Hagarville, Keagan Flinn, Ali Langdon, Shelby Woodard and T. J. Beck, all of Clarksville, and Brooks, Trace and Reed Langdon of Alma.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, June 12, at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robbie Jackson officiating. Burial was in Mount Vernon cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Randall Scoggins, Christopher Scoggins, Richard Flinn, Scott Langdon, Russell Scoggins, and Dane Woodard.

Honorary pallbearers were all employees and residents of Clarksville Health and Rehab.

Pam Johnson

Pamela Johnson, 46, of Russellville died Monday, June 8, 2009, at Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

She was a native of Casa Grande, Ariz., daughter of the late Ella Ruth Gray, and was preceded in death by one grandson, Devon Taylor Stark.

Survivors include three daughters, Misty Ashley, LaTosha Stark and LaTisha Pittman, all of Covington, Tenn.; her father, Thurman Gray of Pottsville; nine grandchildren; five brothers, Donald Gray of Russellville, Steve Gray of Coal Hill, Rickey Gray of Clarksville, Timmie Gray of Russellville and Robbie Gray of Dardanelle; three sisters, Lavonda Ramey of Dardanelle, Anna Devore of Booneville, Miss., and Tina Miller of Mount George; and companion, Mike Roosa of Russellville.

A memorial service was held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 12, at Blackwell Free Will Baptist Church with Elvis Clark officiating. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.

Rudolph Justice Jr.

Rudolph A. Justice Jr., 64, of Kalamazoo, Mich., died Saturday, May 30, 2009.

He was born in Clarksville to Norma Jean and Rudolph Justice Sr., served in the U. S. Navy and received an honorable discharge, attended the University of the Ozarks, retired from the Department of Veteran Affairs, and a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Kalamazoo, Mich. He was preceded in death by one sister, Nola C. Justice.

Survivors include two sons, Rev. Mark G. (Angela) Justice and Matthew S. Justice; one daughter, Kimberly James of Kalamazoo, Mich.; mother of his children, Lois S. Justice; siblings, Michael E. (Wilma) Justice of Huntsville, Texas, and Kaye (Paul) Person of Tuckerman; grandchildren, Antwon, Brittney, Matthew, Mark, Anaczia, Jayden, and Wynstan; one great-grandchild, Kyohn; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral was at 11 a.m. Friday, June 5, at the Friendship Baptist Church with Rev. Mark G. Justice officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Whitley Memorial Funeral Home in Kalamazoo, Mich.

Harold D. Waneck

Harold D. Waneck, 82, of Ozone died Sunday, June 14, 2009, at his home.

He was a native of Rosanky, Texas, son of the late Frank and Magdalena Rabel Waneck, member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rosanky, Texas, and a retired Alcoa Steel Company employee.

Survivors are his wife, Gay Waneck; one daughter, Sue Boyd and husband, Harry, of Van Buren; one son, Mike Waneck and wife, Patti, of New Braunfels, Texas; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; 14 step grandchildren; and eight step great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 18, at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George Willis officiating. The body was cremated.
