Earl Edmond Walker

Earl Edmond Walker, 65, of Altus died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2000, at Fort Smith.

He was a welder and farmer, Pentecostal, member of Golden Glove Boxer in Johnson County and Weight Boxer in Tulsa, Okla., and son of the late Rube Walker and Kizzie Warren Walker.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Wilma Rose Hurst Walker; two daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth Diann and Terry Francis of Pauls Valley, Okla., and Sharon Dee and Bill Ward of Siloam Springs; one son and daughter-in-law, Ruben Earl and Jane Walker of Coal Hill; one sister, Georgia Hutchinson of Oklahoma; three brothers, Elvin Walker and Fred Walker, both of Jenks, Okla., and Marvin Walker of Clarksville; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Garland Williams officiating. Burial was in Spadra cemetery.

Nephews served as pallbearers.

James Boyd Buffington

James Boyd Buffington, 74, of Booneville, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000, in Booneville Community Hospital.

He was a native of Waldron, son of the late Rev. David Elijah and Julie Ann Emberson Buffington, a saw mill employee, and was preceded in death by one son, James B. Buffington Jr.; one stepson, James A. Combs; one stepdaughter, Deloris Forrester; one brother, William Buffington; and one sister, Lizzie Buffington.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Gladys Buffington; one daughter, Shirley Buffington of Oakland, Calif.; two sons, Timothy Buffington of Pine Bluff and Donald Ray Buffington of Oakland, Calif.; one stepson, Henry Combs of Van Buren; two stepdaughters, Carolyn Jones and Myrna Fitzgerald, both of Clarksville; two sisters, Joy Hunt of Greenwood and Lidea Ruth Mayes of Waldron; five brothers, John Buffington of Lamar, Joe Buffington, Paul Buffington and David Buffington, all of Booneville; and Andrew Buffington of Watson; five grandchildren, Constance Buffington, Tereasa Buffington, and Nathan Buffington, all of Booneville, and Frances Buffington and James Buffington, both of Clarksville; several great-grandchildren; numerous nieces; and numerous nephews.

Funeral was at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, at Trinity Chapel Pentecostal Church of God in Clarksville with Rev. Terry Schlinker officiating.

Burial was in Lamar cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Gerald Cowell, Frank Patton, Don Mefford, Virgil Blake, Bob Waite, and Charles Holt.

Mrs. Judy VanDerHevel

Mrs. Judy Ann VanDerHevel, 43, of Booneville died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000.

She was a daughter of the late Corneal and Kathryn VanDerHevel and was preceded in death by one brother, Victor VanDerHevel.

She is survived by four sisters, Karolyn Jones of London, Kathy Stewart of Hughes Springs, Texas, Peggy Hughes of Roanoke, Texas, and Marilyn Phillips of El Paso, Texas.

The body was cremated.

A memorial service was held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, in the chapel of the Booneville Human Development Center.

Arrangements were under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Booneville.

Mrs. Mary P. Ford

Mrs. Mary P. Ford, 84, of Hartman died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.

A native of Iowa, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Grace Church Walker, and widow of Nick Edward Ford.

She is survived by three daughters, Betty E. Richardson of Hartman, Mildred Sharkey of Pasadena, Calif., and Jeannette Davis of Idaho; three sons, Robert Ford of Idaho, and Charles Ford and Cecil Ford, both of Clarksville; one sister, Etta Ford of Victorville, Calif.; one brother, Jerome Walker of Des Moines, Iowa; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held at 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13, at the Ralph Richardson residence. Burial was in Woodlawn cemetery in Las Vegas, Nev. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Mrs. Marie Roberts

Mrs. Marie Roberts, 89, of Clarksville died Monday, Feb. 14, 2000, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.

She was a native of the Spadra Community, daughter of the late Frank and Lula Stewart Jones, widow of Olney Roberts, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Virgie Skidgel.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jackie and Jurine Roberts of Clarksville; one son-in-law, Bill Skidgel of Fort Smith; five grandchildren, Connie Martin and Steve Skidgel, both of Van Buren, Bruce Skidgel of Fort Smith, Lale Roberts of Green Forest, and Leah Castleberry of Sulphur, La.; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Dr. Robert Brown officiating. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Simons, Bruce Skidgel, Steve Skidgel, Steven Skidgel, Lale Roberts, and Steve Castleberry.

Orville F. Guinn

Orville Franklin Guinn, 90, of Clarksville died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at his home.

He was a retired automobile salesman, Methodist, World War II veteran, and son of the late James and Grace Beavers Guinn.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Stella Elder Guinn; one son and daughter-in-law, Arlie and Oneita Guinn of Henrico, N. C.; one sister, Edith Nelson of Rock Springs, Wyo.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, at the Hays Chapel Methodist Church with Rev. Chris Rink officiating.

Burial was in Oakland cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Spike Feikema, Argie Kendall, Virgil Phillips, Bennie Ross, J. D. Jacobs, and Bob McGuire.

Memorials may be made to Hays Chapel Methodist Church.

Mrs. Shirley E. Clark

Mrs. Shirley Etta Clark, 62, of Clarksville died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000.

She was a daughter of the late James Riley and Frances McKlesky Spradling, widow of Paul Burns and James Clark, and a Baptist.

Survivors include one daughter, Tanya Robinson of Clarksville; one son, Marco Burns of Clarksville; two sisters, Bera Patterson of Springdale and Katherine Brown of Alabama; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The body was cremated.

Local arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Seth T. Shaw

Seth T. Shaw, 94, of Clarksville died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000, at his home.

Born in Paradise, Utah, he was a son of the late Harry Albert and Elizabeth Thomas Shaw, the head of the department of horticulture and professor at Brigham Young University, vice president of Safeway Stores Inc., a consultant to the food industry, and was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Edith P. Shaw.

He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Tom (Seth Thomas Shaw Jr.) and Lucille Shaw of Oceanside, Calif.; one daughter and son-in-law, Julia and Jerry Stokes of Clarksville; five grandchildren, Seth Thomas Shaw III of Salt Lake City, Utah, Suzy Shaw of Cambridge, Mass., Justin Stokes and Paget Stokes, both of Asheville, N. C., and Holly Herron of Greenville, S. C.; and three great-grandchildren, Brittney Stokes and Bailey Stokes, both of Asheville, N. C., and Cullen Fagan of Cambridge, Mass.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Billy Ray Usery officiating.
