Clovis E. Ackerman

Clovis Eviline (Honey) Ackerman, 92, of Lamar died Monday, Sept. 2, 2002, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.
She was a daughter of the late Herbert (Bert) and Clola Huggins Rogers, widow of James H. Ackerman, and was preceded in death by two daughters, M. C. Sandy Whetnall and Bonnie Lee Gilliam.
Survivors are one daughter and son-in-law, Freddie and Leo Dickerson of London; one son, James (Bud) Ackerman of Springdale; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at Dennard cemetery with Rev. Gary Blair officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Cabin Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 315, Lamar, AR 72846.

Charles Martin

Charles Martin, 67, of Plano, Texas, died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002, at his home.
He was a native of Clarksville, son of the late Orla Charles and Laura Mae Taylor Martin, graduate of the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, member and deacon of First Baptist Church in Plano, Texas, served on the Texas Baptist Men's Disaster Relief Team, and was preceded in death by one sister, Eva Atkinson.
Survivors are his widow, Jetta Mae Blackard Martin; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Debbie Noble of Plano, Texas, Diane and Doug Williams of Houston, Texas, and Donna and Dan Thompson of Amarillo, Texas; seven grandchildren, Amanda and Ashley Noble, Lindsey and Lauren Williams, and Chad, Christopher and Chase Thompson; one sister and brother-in-law, Joyce Mae and Tom Koon of Byron Center, Mich.; mother-in-law, Joyce Blackard of Tahlequah, Okla.; two brothers-in-law, Jim Blackard and wife, Morine, of Carrollton, Texas, and Bill Blackard and wife, Mary, of Tahlequah, Okla.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, at the First Baptist Church in Plano, Texas, with Dr. Michael Riley officiating.
Burial will be in Ridgeview Memorial Park under the direction of Turrentine Jackson Morrow Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, at Turrentine Jackson Morrow Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Plano Building Fund or the American Cancer Society.

Finis L. Leavell

Finis Lavon Leavell, 71, of Dover died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002, at his home.
A native of Lamar, he was a son of the late Calvin Gilbert and Vera Jewel Delph Leavell, construction employee through the AFL-CIO Labor Union, member of the Pentecostal Church and the AFL-CIO, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Belinda Waterman; and one brother, Truman Leavell.
Survivors include his widow, Kathern Mathews Leavell; two sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Donna Leavell and Jamie and Sonya Leavell, all of Dover; three daughters and sons-in-law, Trudy and Johnny Drope of Russellville, Annette and Tony Proctor of Hagarville, and Tammy and Danny McMinn of Dover; three brothers, Jerry Leavell, Donell Leavell, and Riley Leavell, all of Clarksville; five sisters, Pearl Knight, Bobbie Jean Black and Jeanette Watson, all of Clarksville, Norma Lee Wood of Catawissa, Mo., and Juanita McDermett of Louisville, Ky.; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Lahoma Leavell of Lamar; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, at the Gospel Lighthouse Pentecostal Church with Rev. Jackie Pledger officiating.
Burial will be in Annie's Chapel cemetery under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service of Russellville.
Active pallbearers will be Matthew Leavell, Neil Leavell, Shaun (Hotrod) Proctor, Douglas McMinn, Kurtus Leavell, and Joshua Deal.
Honorary pallbearer will be Spencer Leavell.
Memorials may be made to Pope County Hospice.

James R. Foltz

James R. Foltz, 86, of Clarksville died Monday, Sept. 2, 2002, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a son of the late Frederick and Alma Hummel Foltz, a chemical engineer and during World War II served in the U. S. Army special engineering detachment at Oak Ridge, Tenn. Since retiring from Argonne National Laboratory in 1971, he participated in community activities and the establishment of the volunteer fire department of Rural Fire District No. 1.
Survivors include his widow, Elene Cook Foltz; one daughter and son-in-law, Norma and Thomas H. Hogan of Clarksville; one son, Charles F. Foltz of Clarksville; and one sister, Anna C. Foltz of Erlanger, Ky.
A memorial service, under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home, will be held at a later date

Leona C. Sanchez

Leona Clydine James Sanchez, 62, of Lamar died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, at Ozark.
She was a registered nurse and member of the First Baptist Church of Clarksville.
Survivors include four daughters, Shawna Laree Klema of Oklahoma City, Okla., Tonnia Ruth Sanchez of Calico Rock, Letitia Bettina Sanchez of Springdale, and Lareina Celine Judah of Lamar; five sons, Kenneth Karl Klema, Antonio Sanchez II, and Enrique Dannielle Sanchez, all of Lamar, James Alton Sanchez of Mountain Home, and Christopher Allen Sanchez of Jacksonville; parents, Author Lee and Bessie May Brown James; three brothers, James Laurenc of Destrahan, La., Ellis Wesley Scott Jr. of Waveland, Miss., and Richard Allen Scott of Rogers; and 12 grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Dr. Robert Brown officiating. The body will be cremated.

Myrtle S. Overbey

Myrtle S. Overbey, 94, of Knoxville died Monday, Sept. 2, 2002, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.
She was a daughter of the late W. C. and Rachel Heckert Hutchens, native of Blaine, Ore., widow of Vaden Overbey, Baptist, 50-year member of the Lamar Chapter No. 516 Order of the Eastern Star, and was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by two daughters, Magdalene Kirkpatrick of Knoxville and Betty Pitts of Clarksville; two sons, John Overbey of Knoxville and Charles Overbey of Brea, Calif.; one sister, Ruby Sykes of Cave Junction, Ore.; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ira Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Lamar cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kris Paxson, Mike Overbey, Dale Overbey, James Overbey, George Overbey, and Dave Rains.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, at Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Reece Adkison

Reece Adkison, 83, of Russellville died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, at his home.
He was a native of Yell County, son of the late Gene and Carrie Ivey Adkison, graduate of Gum Springs High School, former owner of Reece Adkison Television and Radio Sales and Service, Ben Franklin Department Store in Paris, and co-owner of KLYR Radio in Clarksville, and a retired employee of Morton Frozen Foods (now Con-Agra). He held a master electrician license, was a member of the Arkansas Board of Electrical Examiners, past member of the Lions Club and Rotary Club, and an active member of the First Assembly of God Church in Russellville. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ouida Adkison; and two sons, Ruel Adkison and Roscoe Adkison.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Terri Adkison of Russellville; two grandchildren, Ashton Adkison and Jordan Adkison, both of Russellville; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, at Shinn Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Larry Moore officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park.

Richard A. Tisdale

Richard Allen Tisdale, 48, of Clarksville died Monday, Aug. 26, 2002, at his home.
He was a Marine veteran and member of the Pentecostal Church.
Survivors are his widow, Renae Johnston Tisdale; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Chris and Marla Seavey of Ozark and Anthony Seavey of Lamar; parents, Richard and Beatrice Tisdale of Ohio; one sister, Debbie Onion of Conneaut, Ohio; one brother and sister-in-law, Dan and Peggy Tisdale; one grandson, David Christopher Anthony Seavey of Lamar; three nieces, Tracy Tisdale, Michelle Tisdale and Elizabeth Tisdale; and two nephews, Tony and Jamie Onion.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Terry Schlinker officiating. The body was cremated.
Memorials may be made to Clarksville Feed and Supply, 401 West Cherry Street, Clarksville, AR 72830.
