Barney Ray Bean

Barney Ray Bean, 71, of Mulberry died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2008, in Fort Smith.

He was a native of Clarksville, retired grocery store manager, Navy veteran, and Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Georgia Bean; three daughters, Karen Goff of Lavaca, Teresa Qualls of Clarksville and Pam Gregory of Alma; one son, Mike Bean of Altus; one sister, Reba Ford of Rogers; one brother, Lavern Bean of Pea Ridge; and ten grandchildren.

Graveside services and burial were at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at New cemetery in Mulberry under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.

David Lee Fultz

David Lee Fultz, 62, of Prairie View died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2008, at his home.

He was a native of Altus, son of the late Jessie Fultz, an employee of Greenville Tube in Clarksville in industrial maintenance for 32 years, and was preceded in death by one brother, Jerry Fultz.

Survivors include his wife, Janie Grissom Fultz; four daughters, Taressa Young of Springtown, Texas, Sondra Rogers of New Blaine, and Sabrina Mitchell and Katina Tucker, both of Yadkinville, N. C.; three sons, Gary Fultz of Corby, England, David Fultz of Fayetteville, and Wally Street of Paris; mother, Violet Wood Fultz Allen of Coal Hill; one sister, Cheryl Fultz of Ozark; three brothers, Larry Fultz of Sheridan, Jesse Fultz of Ozark, and Randy Allen of Coal Hill; ten grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, at the Fernwood Assembly of God Church near Hartman with Rev. Eddie Birdsong officiating.

Burial will be in Prairie View cemetery at Prairie View under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home of Paris.

Active pallbearers will be Larry Dean Fultz, Shawn Fultz, Jerry Wayne Fultz, Ryan Fultz, John Wisdom, and Steven Barber.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Hill, James Paxion, Don Bradley, and co-workers at Greenville Tube.

Dorothy Carter

Dorothy Carter, 89, of Prague, Okla., formerly of Clarksville, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2008, in Prague, Okla.

She was a native of Fort Douglas, daughter of the late Joe Cecil and Beulah Smith Hyatt, widow of Roy Carter, and was preceded in death by one son, James; one daughter, Louise Minney Callahan; and two sisters, Margie Lambert and Leona Patterson.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Carter and wife, Debbie, of Prague, Okla., and Roger Carter and wife, Lois, of East St. Louis, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Paul Farrar officiating. Burial was in Lamar cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jerry Minney, David Carter, Doug Gammel, John Piper, Vernon Tatum, and D. J. Holman.

Isabel Louise Shirley

Isabel Louise Shirley, 84, of Lamar died Monday, Feb. 18, 2008.

She was born in San Diego, Calif., to Benjamin Vance and Mary Vesley, and was preceded in death by her husband, Quincy; one daughter, Kathleen; one brother, Benjamin Vesley; and one great-granddaughter, Jessica Hall.

She is survived by one daughter, Lynda Sivils of Russellville; one son and daughter-in-law, William and Renate Shirley of Russellville; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The body was cremated.

A private graveside service will be held at the National cemetery in Fort Smith.

Local arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Russellville Animal Shelter, 3115 South Mobile, Russellville, AR 72802.

Lillie Leona Miller

Lillie Leona Miller, 74, of Clarksville died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008, at Clarksville Convalescent Home.

She was a native of Redlick, daughter of the late Alex James and Reba Corrine Hodges Brigham, widow of Herbert Miller, restaurant manager, and was preceded in death by two brothers, James Brigham and Harold Brigham.

She is survived by one daughter, Reba Sherman of Dover; one son, Roy Edward Miller of Roy, Wash.; one brother, George Brigham of Poughkeepsie; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Minnow Creek cemetery.

Active pallbearers were J. L. Hogue, Brian Morgan, David Chamberlin, Mark Chamberlin, Brian Hunnicutt, and Richard Hachit.

Honorary pallbearers were Roy Edward Miller, James (R. J.) Hogue Jr., Jordan Chamberlin, and Kenith Hogue.

Marsha A. Gravitz

Marsha Alta Gravitz, 64, of Clarksville died Friday, Feb. 22, 2008, at her home.

She was a native of Ironwood, Mich., graduate of Fond du Lac High School and the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh, Wis., retired school teacher, avid animal lover, and preceded in death by her father, Matthew Gravitz.

She is survived by her mother, Maybelle Gravitz of Clarksville.

The body was cremated.

Local arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Mary J. George

Mary Janelle George, 72, of Clarksville died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008, at Clarksville Convalescent Home.

A native of Holly Grove, she was a daughter of the late Mardis and Lorene Brady Chandler, widow of Chestene George, member of Twin Oaks Baptist Church, graduate of Arkansas City High School, and was preceded in death by one brother, Larry Chandler.

She is survived by one daughter, Sheila Poe of North Little Rock; two sisters, Merilyn Pipes of Hermitage and Maycelle Smith of Warren; one brother, James Chandler of London; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Troy Vaughn and Rev. Ron Owen officiating. Burial was at 3 p.m. at Union Hill cemetery in Ingalls.

Sibyle Hatchett

Sibyle Hatchett, 89, of Clarksville died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2008, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.

She was a native of Lamar, daughter of the late John and Etta Graham Reynolds, widow of Pete Hatchett, and member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include five sons, Kenneth Hatchett and wife, Billie, of Clarksville, Bob Hatchett and wife, Nancy, of Mulberry, Jim Hatchett and wife, Ann, of Fort Smith, Johnny Hatchett and wife, Sue, of Lamar, and Doug Hatchett and wife, Linda, of Coal Hill; one brother, Albert Reynolds of Lamar; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services and burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, at Lamar cemetery with Rev. Eddie Birdsong officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Mark, Bobby, Jeremy, Michael, Cody and Paris Hatchett and Tyler Sisson.
