William W. Walton

William Wells Walton, 88, of Nederland, Texas, died Nov. 30, 2006, at his home.
He was a native of Clarksville, retired from Chicago Bridge and Iron, member of the First United Methodist Church in Nederland, Texas, served in the U. S. Navy during World War II, and was preceded in death by his wife, Estelle Walton.
Survivors include two daughters, Chery Breaux and Becky Terrell of Nederland, Texas; one son, Michael Walton of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nephew, Herman H. Houston of Clarksville; and nieces, Ann Williams and Marilyn Trone of Clarksville.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 4, at Broussards Funeral Home with burial at Memory Gardens in Nederland, Texas.

Agnes I. Stricklin

Agnes Inez Stricklin, 49, of Hartman died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2006, at Clarksville Convalescent Home.
A native of Roswell, N. M., she was a daughter of the late Manley and Kathryn Nichols Stricklin, member of Coal Hill First Baptist Church, former employee of Tyson Foods in Van Buren for 17 years prior to retirement in January 2006, member of the American Cancer Society, and was preceded in death by two brothers, Dwight and Ralph Stricklin.
She is survived by one son, Jason Stricklin and wife, Hollie, of Hagarville; two sisters, Linda Moffit of Alix and Kathy Shelton of Fort Worth, Texas; two brothers, Elmer Stricklin and Manley Stricklin Jr., both of Coal Hill; two grandchildren, Braden Stricklin and Destiny Stricklin of Hagarville; and companion, Angel Rangel of Hartman.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, at the Coal Hill First Baptist Church with Rev. David Qualls officiating.
Burial will be in Hartman cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers will be Ryan Stricklin, Jerry Don Stricklin, Randy Stricklin, Darrell Stricklin, Daniel Moffit, Dustin Moffit, and Allen Stricklin.
Honorary pallbearer will be Bill Robertson.

Alice M. Withrow

Alice M. Withrow, 70, of Hartman died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2006, at Fort Smith.
She was a naval shipyard, USDA and FMHA employee, Missionary Baptist, member of NARFE, AHTD and AARP, and daughter of the late Robert C. and Alice M. Brisson Stephens.
Survivors include her husband, Ronald Withrow; one son, Dale Withrow of Hartman; and cousin, Caron Hennington of Springdale.
Graveside services and burial will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, at Oakland cemetery in Clarksville. Arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Blake Gilbreth Jr.

Randy Blake Gilbreth Jr., 34, of Alexander, formerly of Clarksville, died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2006, at Alexander.
He was a native of Ozark and self-employed carpenter.
Survivors include one daughter, Robin Brook Gilbreth of Clarksville; one son, Ryan Blake Gilbreth of Clarksville; parents, Randy and Fay Gilbreth of Ozark; one brother, Christopher Paul Gilbreth of Ozark; and numerous, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with Rev. Jan Akins officiating. Burial of the cremains was at Pilot Grove cemetery in Ozark.

Chester Hamzy

Chester Hamzy, 85, of Deming, N. M., died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2006, at his home.
He was a native of Lonoke, graduate of the University of the Ozarks and the University of Oklahoma, served in the U. S. Army for six years in the Aleutian Isles during World War II, former high school teacher in Lovington, N. M., and Bernadillo, N. M., charter member of the Westside Unitarian Universalist Congregation, and was preceded in death by his parents, Abraham and Nannie Hamzy; one daughter, Nance Jayne Hamzy; and two brothers, Winfred and Pete Hamzy.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Hamzy; one son, Joe and wife, Linda, of Arlington, Texas; one daughter, Carol Schultz and husband, Larry, of Deming, N. M.; two stepdaughters, Peggy Somermeyer and husband, Amador Gonzales, of the country of Andorra and Sue Somers and Tom Egan of Houston, Texas; one stepson, Tim Somermeyer of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are with Terrazas Crematory in Santa Clara and Terrazas Funeral Chapels.

Elmer P. Merkling

Elmer Peter Merkling, 85, of Oark died Friday, Dec. 1, 2006, at Clarksville.
He was a retired steel fabricating construction employee, Catholic, World War II veteran, Mason, member of the Coal Hill VFW and Mulberry Valley Grange, son of the late Dominick and Hellen Smitz Merkling, and was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Patricia Daniels Merkling; and two brothers, Edwin Merkling and Gerard Merkling.
He is survived by two sons, Sam Camgemi of Illinois and Joseph Merkling of Oark; two sisters, Marie Braun and Bernice Sloan, both of Illinois; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three nephews.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, at Roller-Cox Funeral Chapel with Rev. Tim Vanderford officiating. Burial will be in Oark cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Mike Skaggs, Eddy Skaggs, Tom Mingo, Mark Robinson, Jason Stepp and Jimmy Hickman.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dallas Skaggs, Dennis Stutzman, Dido Stepp, and Ronnie Stepp.

Lenora Crutchfield

Lenora Dorothy Crutchfield, 79, of Lamar died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2006, at AMI St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville.
A native of Johnson County, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Myrtle Harmon Johnson, widow of Aubrey Lee Crutchfield, Pentecostal, and was preceded in death by seven brothers, Melvin, Earl, Lovell, Donell, Dayton, Leon and Arnold Johnson; and one sister, Ola Allen.
Survivors include three sons, Larry Crutchfield of Yates Center, Kan., and Mitchell Crutchfield and Marcus Crutchfield, both of Lamar; one sister, Anna Bixler of Sikeston, Mo.; one brother, Jeff Johnson of Russellville; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, at Humphrey Chapel in Russellville with Rev. Larry Griffin officiating. Burial was in Holman cemetery.

Walter H. Martin

Walter H. Martin, 97, of London died Friday, Dec. 1, 2006, at his home.
A native of Ochelata, Okla., he was a son of the late William Henry and Ollie Josephine Barrick Martin, U. S. Army veteran of World War II having served in the South Pacific, carpenter, owner of the Dairy Queen in Clarksville and other area restaurants, and a realtor. He was preceded in death by his wife Orpha (Jean) Martin; one son, Walter Howard Martin Jr; and one daughter, Josie Ann Martin.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, James and Jane Martin of Salt Lake City, Utah; one daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Eddie Reynolds of London; two stepsons and stepdaughters-in-law, Gary and Rachel Tuck of Scranton and Emmitt and Joann Bowen of Clinton; one stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Marsha Tuck and Bill Warnick of Russellville; one sister-in-law, Lillian Stracener of San Angelo, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, at Shinn Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Johnny Whorton officiating. Burial, with military honors provided by the VFW Rogers-Rye Post 2283, was at Oakland cemetery in Russellville.
Active pallbearers were Donnie Reynolds, Michael Reynolds, Brian Spainhour, Chris Bowen, Steve Goodin and Quentin Bowen.
Honorary pallbearers were Tim Bowen, Ben Tuck and John Pigeon.
Memorials may be made to the Area Agency on Aging, 1310 West Main Street, Russellville, AR 72801 or the Arkansas Hospice, 2405 East Parkway, Suite 3, Russellville, AR 72802.
