Lillian Buck

Lillian Buck, 84, of Altus died Thursday, July 13, 2006, at Clarksville.
She was a daughter of the late Gaston and Myrtle Parker Linton, widow of Smiley Fred Buck, member of the First Baptist Church of Altus, Sunday school teacher for 50 years, member of extension homemakers club, and seamstress.
She is survived by one son, Mark Covert and wife, Lori, of Ozark; two stepsons, Michael Buck of Ozark and Kenneth Buck of Kansas City, Kan.; two grandchildren, Zachary and Jacob Covert of Ozark; and numerous cousins including Jo Ann Carter, Sandra and Paul Kremers and Kenny and Sherry Carter, all of Clarksville.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, July 17, at the First Baptist Church in Altus with Rev. Chuck Starnes, Rev. Ron Clark, and Rev. Bobby Jack Covert officiating.
Burial was in Coal Hill cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were Wallace West, Dewayne Freeman, John Stewart, Aubrey Bowen, A. L. Pippen, and Sascha Hoffman.
Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Holt, Eugene Scarberry, David Linton, Mike Pennington, Darryl Stevens, Billy Burt Reynolds, Robert Hollowell and James Hughes.

Louvena Jane Howard

Louvena Jane Howard, 104, of Russellville died Sunday, July 16, 2006, at Stella Manor Nursing and Rehab in Russellville.
She was a native of Fort Douglas, daughter of the late William and Babe Cordellia Ross Phillips, widow of Joseph M. Howard, member of the Mill Creek Church of Christ, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Alice Howard; three sisters, Clara Carter, Annie B. Waterman, and Ella Mae Tilton; five brothers, Claud, Gus, George, Robert and Heartsel Phillips; two stepsisters, Leva Stone and Ollie Ross; and one stepbrother, Homer Terry.
Survivors include two brothers, Frank Phillips of Lampasas, Texas, and Marion Phillips and wife, Violet, of Cheyenne, Wyo.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 19, at Humphrey Chapel in Russellville with Vernon Howard officiating. Burial will be at Burgess cemetery.

Rev. William Lankford

Rev. William Horton Lankford, 81, of Oark died Saturday, July 15, 2006, at his home.
He was an ordained minister with the United Baptist Church, World War II veteran and served at the Battle of the Bulge as a medic, Craftsman tools supervisor, and retired from Easco Hand Tools in 1987. He was preceded in death by his parents, William M. and Carrie Woods Lankford; one son, Dennis Horton Lankford; two brothers, David and Jess Lankford; and four sisters-in-law, Lois Younce, Ella Jones, Ruby Sutton, and Raide Starkey.
Survivors include his wife, Rosie Carrie Cain Lankford; one daughter, Mary Maxwell and husband, Larry, of Fort Collins, Colo.; three sons, Rev. Ben Lankford and wife, Sharlene, of West Plains, Mo., Dan Lankford and wife, Tonnie, of Clarksville, and Scott G. Lankford and wife, JoAnne, of Fort Collins, Colo.; one sister-in-law, Betty Cain of Etawah, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; nine grandchildren; and niece, Mildred Sutton of Chattanooga, Tenn.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 19, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Alvin Reynolds and Rev. Denver Cochran officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh cemetery in Jasper.
Pallbearers will be Nathan Lankford, Jim Stellick, Shawn Watkins, Argia Harderson, Veston Edgmon, and Jeff Holt.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the charity of the donor's choice.

Charles R. Crooks

Charles Roy Crooks, 69, of Ozark, father of Randel Crooks of Clarksville, died Monday, July 3, 2006, in Ozark.
He was a retired Whirlpool Corporation employee, Army veteran, member of Liberty Baptist Church at Hunt, and was preceded in death by one son, Dennis Crooks; two sisters, Mildred Taylor and Lillian Nolan; and two brothers, Ray Crooks and George Crooks.
He is survived by one daughter, Rosie Crooks of Ozark; one other son, Tracy Crooks of Ozark; three sisters, Edith Crooks of Russellville and Wilma West and Irma Thronebury, both of Ozark; and four grandchildren, Brittney Crooks, Gage Crooks, Logan Crooks and Lauren Schluterman.
Graveside services and burial were at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 6, at Gar Creek cemetery under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home.

Clarence G. Hardin

Clarence Gene Hardin, 73, of Clarksville died Sunday, July 9, 2006, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a son of the late Burr and Dessie Hill Harden, member of Crossroads Assembly of God Church, construction foreman, packing house employee, mechanic, and was preceded in death by one son, Ron Hardin; one brother, Kenneth Harden; two brothers-in-law, Charles Dickerson and Howard Pelts; and two infant twin great-grandsons.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita Cowan Hardin; four daughters, Jeannett Willis and husband, George, of Batson, Margaret Hardin of Muskogee, Okla., P. J. Skaggs and husband, Tim, of Ozark, and Kay Breedlove and husband, Tom, of Oark; two sons, Billy Hardin and wife, Beverly, and Lonnie Hardin, all of Clarksville; three brothers, Calvin Harden and wife, Merisue, of Texas, Luther Hardin and wife, Juanita, of Ozark, and Glen Harden and wife, Bonnie, of the Pleasant View Community; six sisters, Molly Dickerson of Clarksville, Velma Stone and husband, Noble, of Dodge City, Kan., Lois Brown and husband, Dellis, of Harrison, Leann Pelts of Lamar, and Bernice Cowell and husband, Donnie, of the Low Gap Community; one sister-in-law, Pat Harden of Clarksville; 18 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 13, at Grenade's Chapel Church with Rev. Tommy Parker officiating.
Burial will be in Jackson cemetery at Ozark under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers will be Adam Hardin, Darin Harden, Dale Wright, Randy Cowell, Dustin James, and Clyde Cowan.
Honorary pallbearers will be Lucas Skaggs, Terry Pelts, Billy Hardin II, Duane Yates, Gary Dickerson, and Greg Willis.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Eveylene Chronister

Eveylene Alderson Chronister of Lamar, died July 1, 2006, at her home. She was born to James Roy Alderson and his wife, Ollie Frances Clark, on August 25, 1935, in Johnson County, Arkansas, proceeded in death by her first husband, William Ralph Owens.
She attended Denny, Lutherville and Lamar Schools. She was a retired Food Service worker and manager, a former long time employee of O.K. Food Market in Clarksville, a member of Mt. Home Free Will Baptist Church and Ladies auxiliary, a loving and devoted wife, mother and friend, a doting grandmother and great-grandmother, a lover of gospel music, an active member in the local senior Citizens Center, and co-founded the Clark family reunion. She will be remembered for her infectious laughter and loving heart.
She is survived by her husband, E. O. (Buck) Chronister; her daughter, Sandra Kay Verdier and husband, Rod, of Williams, Calif.; her son, Gary Ralph Owens of Dardanelle; daughter-in-law, Donna Owens of Dover; sisters and spouses, Hettie and Richard Johnson of Clarksville, Margaret and Bill Childers of Van Buren, and her twin, Evadene Hollis of Clarksville; brothers and spouse, Lee and Vanita Alderson of Hagarville, James Floyd (Son) Alderson of Lutherville and Raymond Clark (Buck) Alderson of Lutherville; two stepdaughters and spouse, Debbie Blackard of Lamar and Teri and Tom Werner of Russellville; two stepsons and spouses, Larry and Carol Chronister of Lamar and Evan and Kelly Chronister of Breinigsville, Pa.; grandchildren, Sarah Wagoner, Kendall and Laura Werner, Gabrielle and E. J. Chronister, Heather and R. J. Verdier, Bryan Owens and Gary Owens of Westwood, Calif., Candy Lucido and husband, Steve, of Antioch, Calif., Amber Parham and husband, Thomas, of Minnow Creek, Misty Lumpkins and husband, Douglas, of Russellville; great-grandchildren, Devon Lumpkins, Liam Parham, and Joey, Stephen, Tony and Frankie Lucido; and a large extended family and uncountable friends.
Pallbearers were Robert Childers, Randy Alderson, Rick Johnson, Billy Dickerson, Larry Holman, Jeff Vire, Jerry Miller, Jonathan Vire and Terry Miller.

Edna M. Morrow

Edna Marie Morrow, 80, of Hunt died Friday, July 7, 2006, at Clarksville Convalescent Home.
A native of Hunt, she was a daughter of the late Loyd and Emma Swofford Jones, widow of John Wesley Morrow Sr., Baptist, and was preceded in death by one son, Fred Morrow; three brothers, Curtis, Horace and J. T. Jones; and three grandchildren, Fred and Sidney Morrow and Chris Keith.
She is survived by five daughters, Shirley Walton Lockard and Irene Kelly, both of Hartman, Ruth Ledbetter and Janet Downen, both of Hunt, and Gail Warren of Scranton; seven sons, John Wesley (Bud) Morrow Jr., Roy Morrow, and Larry Morrow, all of Hunt, Bobby Morrow of Louisiana, Eddie Don Morrow of Hartman, Jimmy Morrow of Miami, Okla.; and Teddy Morrow of Knoxville; one sister, Ruth Timmerman of Hunt; two brothers, Vernon Jones and Wayne Jones, both of Hunt; 34 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, at Liberty Hill Church with Rev. Raymond Kelly officiating.
Burial was in Liberty Hill cemetery at Hunt under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were John Wesley (Bud), Roy, Bobby, Eddie Don, Jimmy, Larry, Teddy and Chad Morrow.
Grandsons served as honorary pallbearers.
