Clayton C. Powell

Clayton C. Powell, 87, of Lamar died Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2005, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Pope County, son of the late Jesse H. and Cora Stokes Powell, former resident of Russellville, member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Russellville, construction projects manager and had worked on several large building projects in and around the Russellville area, member of Carpenters Union Local 1836 in Russellville, U. S. Army veteran of World War II, and was commissioned by the state of Louisiana as colonel on the staff of General John J. McKeithen following Hurricane Camille in 1969 while working as an agent for General Adjustment Bureau providing property damage assessments.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia Powell; one son, Jimmy Clayton Powell; one granddaughter, Amy Knoernschild; two brothers, F. H. Powell and S. H. Powell; one son-in-law, Eddie Fuentes; and a cousin, Glen Powell.
Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Shirlye Gayle and Bobby Choat of Granada Hills, Calif., Linda Fuentes of Woodland Hills, Calif., and Sharon Frances and Leo Knoernschild of Lamar; one daughter-in-law, Lorene Powell of Vicksburg, Miss.; one sister and brother-in-law, Vanita and Glen Roberts of Santa Mar-
ia, Calif.; one sister-in-law, Ruth Ramsey of Russellville; 14 grandchildren, Mark Schmidt of Tehachapi, Calif., Michael Shawn Fuentes of Columbus, Ohio, Melissa Grace Plante of Lakeview, Calif., Kimberly Frances Hiljus of Grants Pass, Ore., Stephen Powell of Jacksonville, Miss., Pam Browder, Tony Powell, and Curtis Powell, all of Vicksburg, Miss., Eric Powell of Fort Polk, La., Perry Don Gilbert, Alan Dale Gilbert, Brian Clayton Gilbert and Jeffrey Scott Gilbert, all of Arkansas, and Alisa Kimbrough of Lamar; 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Russellville with Rev. Steve Mosley and Rev. Herb Swanson officiating.
Burial was in Shiloh-Williamson cemetery at Russellville under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service.
Active pallbearers were Michael Shawn Fuentes, Perry Don Gilbert, Alan Dale Gilbert, Brian Clayton Gilbert, Jeffrey Scott Gilbert, Eric Powell, Stephen Powell, Tony Powell and Jadd Kimbrough.
Honorary pallbearers were the remaining grandchildren, Bob and Jeri Rollow and Charles Smith.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, Memorial Processing Center, P. O. Box 1653, Topeka, KS 66601-1653.

Docha H. Sperry

Docha Hatchett Sperry, 81, of Coal Hill died Thursday, Oct. 6, 2005, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
A native of Coal Hill, she was a daughter of the late Lee and Nona Davis Hatchett, home nurse, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Jeannie Crabtree; two brothers, Davis and Leonard Hatchett; and six sisters, Gussie Bartlett, Mildred Neuman, Robbie Stevenson, Jean Reynolds, Gertie Hyde and Helen Folkner.
She is survived by one daughter, Bobby Lou Burnam of Michigan; three sons, Steve Crabtree of Coal Hill, Kenneth Crabtree of Missouri, and Ron Bokosky of California; two sisters, Pauline Mayfield of Clarksville and Melva Hanson of Newman, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
The body was cremated.
Local arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

George B. Milloway

George Bruce Milloway, 63, of Clarksville died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2005, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a retired truck driver, member of the Second Baptist Church in Clarksville, former deacon at Dyess Central Baptist Church in Dyess, U. S. Marine, and was preceded in death by his father, George Dudley Milloway; one brother; and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine Milloway; one daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn Elaine and Robert Dale Johnson of Cabot; one son and daughter-in-law, Stephen Paul and Leta Milloway of Corpus Christi, Texas; mother, Lourine Milloway of Arkadelphia; two brothers, Jimmy Milloway of Knoxville and Joe Milloway of Redfield; three sisters, Mary Shoemaker of Little Rock, Peggy Mitchell of Sherwood, and Ruth Hunt of Hot Springs; and three grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tom Dicuss officiating. Burial will be in Woodland cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Jimmie Loy Milloway, David Milloway, Robert Johnson, Glenn Hickey, Lee Youngblood, Ronnie Ashley and Herbert Ridout.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Open Bible Sunday School Class at Second Baptist Church in Clarksville.
Memorials may be made to Second Baptist Church, The Compassion Center and/or the Clarksville Pregnancy Help Center.

F. Heartsill Peeples

Floyd Heartsill Peeples, 89, of Fayetteville died Thursday, Oct. 6, 2005, at Washington Regional Medical Center.
A native of Clarksville, he was a son of the late Croker Clifton and Biddie Moss Peeples, retired automobile mechanic and service manager for Houston Taylor Motor Company, mechanic for Fisher Buick, owner and operator of Peeples Auto Service, member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Fayetteville, and was preceded in death by one brother, Clifton Peeples of Harrisonville, Mo., and one sister, Gladys Mattox of Fort Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Dala D. Karstetter Peeples; one son and daughter-in-law, Gerald Ray and Susan Peeples of North Little Rock; one sister, Helen Binkley of Fontana, Calif.; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Peeples and wife, Debby, of Bowling Green, Ky., and Lisa Collier and husband, Mike, of Collierville, Tenn.; four great-grandchildren, Madisyn Peeples and Zack, Tyler and Olivia Collier; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral was at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10, at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Rob Bailey officiating.
Burial was in Fairview Memorial Gardens under the the direction of Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville.

James H. Johnston

James H. Johnston, 59, of Wichita, Kan., died Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005.
He was a retired veteran, truck driver and musician, and was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey N. Johnston and Jean Johnston; and grandfather, Jim Brock.
Survivors include his wife, Terry Johnston; three sons, James, Larry and Matthew Johnston; two daughters, Tommi Poley and Judi Bernhardt; six grandchildren, J. T., Brad, Leslie, Mark, Zachary and Christian; five sisters, Jean Day of La Marque, Texas, Ginger Watson of Mableton, Ga., Judy McCann of Santa Fe, Texas, Mary Lou Warren of Clarksville, and Anna Kay Callahan of Lamar; uncle, Bill Johnston of Clarksville; aunt, Hazel Barnes of Decatur, Ga.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral was at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at the Broadway Mortuary Chapel in Wichita, Kan.

Johnny D. Ober

Johnny Denver (J. D.) Ober, 70, of Fallsville died Thursday, Oct. 6, 2005, at his home.
He was a native of Fallsville, son of the late Henry Hartsell and Lettie Franks Ober, served in the U. S. Army several years and was a rock layer. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Samara; one sister, Nadine; and one grandson, Nicholas.
Survivors include two sons, Jeff Ober of Springdale and Tommy Ober and wife, Toni, of Fallsville; one daughter, Wonona Brown of Deer; two brothers, Arch Ober and wife, Sue, of Springdale and Carroll Ober and wife, Barbara, of Deer; one sister, Charlene Clark and husband, Bill, of Mossville; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10, at the Cassville Baptist Church.
Burial was in the Cassville cemetery under the direction of Coffman Funeral Home of Jasper.
Pallbearers were Tracie Mooney, Melissa Stevens, Toni Ober, Denise Mooney, Kristi Butler, Carolyn Oliger, Claire Dougan and Barbara Watson.

Mamie R. Riddell

Mamie Rosetta McCain Riddell, 89, of Dover died Monday, Oct. 3, 2005, at AMI St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville.
She was a native of Lamar, daughter of the late Sid and Martha McCain, and was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years Willie Riddell; one son, James (Tim) Riddell; one daughter-in-law, Linnie Riddell; one son-in-law, Henry Wheeler; three sisters, Delpha Almond, Josie Dunn Baker and Imogene Bean; and four brothers, Edd, Hartsel, Lee Roy and Gerald McCain.
She is survived by one daughter, Magdalene Wheeler of Platte City, Mo.; one son, Paul Riddell and wife, Irene, of Dover; one daughter-in-law, Ruth Riddell of Dover; two sisters, Ruby Jackson and husband, Bill, and Lois Caven and husband, Danny, of Sikeston, Mo.; one brother, Carroll McCain and wife, Wanda, of Cement, Okla.; 14 grandchildren; five step grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 21 step great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; and 14 step great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, at Pleasant Grove Assembly of God Church at Dover with Rev. Jackie Pledger and Rev. Clinton Reddell officiating.
Burial was in McFadden cemetery at Dover under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service of Russellville.
