Evalena Lane

Evalena Lane, 76, of Russellville died Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009, at her home.

She was a native of Hartman, daughter of the late Monroe and Roxie Smith Parker, member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and VFW Ladies Auxiliary, retired senior merchandiser with JC Penney, and was preceded in death by one son, Ronald Bruce Lane; one brother, Jim Parker; and one sister, Faye Green.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Jackson Lane; three daughters, Linda Lane and Juanita Lane Price, both of Russellville, and Kathy Pinion and Maurice of Los Banos, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Chad Marcum, Erik Marcum, Tammi Schultz, Michael Schultz II, Kerry Schultz, Sarah Price, and Joseph Price; 11 great-grandchildren; and six siblings, Don Parker, Dane Parker, Ted Parker, Leroy Parker, Dorothy Scarberry and Hilda Ross.

Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 14, at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Eddie Rogers officiating.

Burial was at Hess cemetery at Coal Hill under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service of Russellville.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.

Harold Ralph Walker

Harold Ralph Walker, 76, of Ozark died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.

He was a son of the late Paul Lee and Lula Mae Finnel Walker, native of Vinita, Okla., member of Ozark First Baptist Church and Coal Hill VFW Post 8532, owner of a lawn service in Ozark, and served 21½ years in the U. S. Army.

He is survived by three daughters, Delores Burton and Beverly Burton, both of Fort Smith, and Connie Gregory and husband, Doyle, of Clarksville; one son, Michael Walker of Clarksville; one brother, Elmer Walker of Galina, Kan.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11, at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Kindrix officiating. Burial was in Hartman cemetery.

Pallbearers were William Mize, Jimmie Jones, The' Tram, Jason Marshall, Scott Elmore, and Doyle Gregory.

Hazel Mae Helms

Hazel Mae Helms, 78, of Clarksville died Friday, Dec. 11, 2009, at her home.

She was a native of Geneva, Ala., daughter of the late Algie Horton and Rillie Brackin Brooks, widow of Jack Helms, member of Cherry Street Baptist Church, realtor, and preceded in death by one brother, Ronnie Brooks; and one granddaughter, Teresa Bradley.

Survivors include two daughters, Lynn Bradley and husband, Don, and Elizabeth Farrar and husband, Jimmy, all of Clarksville; two sons, Brooks M. Helms of Fort Smith and Joey Helms and wife, Jada, of Clarksville; four sisters, Vonzie Jenkins and Mary Ann Cooper, both of Bonifay, Fla., Bobbye Jean Williamson of Perry, Fla., and Shirley Ann Wilkins of Garyville, Fla.; four brothers, Ray Brooks, Roger Brooks, and Rickey Brooks, all of Bonifay, Fla., and Royce Brooks of Acworth, Ga.; grandchildren, Dawn and Johnny Anglin, Jennifer Follmer, Josh Bradley, Nathan Farrar, Jamaica and C. J. Johnson, Ben Helms, and Jake Helms; and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. The body was cremated. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Visiting Nurses Agency, 200 East Main Street, Clarksville, AR 72830.

Larry Wayne Hood

Larry Wayne Hood, 57, of Lamar died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009, at his home.

He was born in Little Rock and was preceded in death by his wife, Teri Hood.

He is survived by eight children, Troy Hood of Russellville, Tanya Hood, Larry Hood Jr., Chelsey Hood, and Coy Hood, all of Graston, Wis., Todd Hood and Toby Hood, both of Colorado, and Colby Hood of Lamar; mother, Thelma Clark of Clarksville; father, Wayne Hood; one sister, Linda Whitson of Kentucky; two brothers, John Hayes of Clarksville and Nick Clark of Indianapolis, Ind.; and seven grandchildren.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Mary Nell Johnson

Mary Nell Johnson, 72, of Clarksville died Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009, at Clarksville Health and Rehab.

She was born at Minnow Creek, daughter of the late Frank and Mary Elizabeth Cravens Johnson, and graduate of Salinas (California) High School and San Francisco California Dental School.

She is survived by one daughter, Maxine Delkener and husband, Ronald, of Clarksville.

The body was cremated.

Local arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Sharon Wofford Meeks

Sharon Rene Wofford Meeks, 49, formerly of Clarksville, died Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009, at her home in North Little Rock.

She was a native of Amarillo, Texas, 1978 graduate of Clarksville High School and 1982 graduate of Harding University with a degree in public relations and was employed as a risk communications officer in the office of health communications and marketing with the Arkansas Department of Health.

Survivors include her husband, Frank Meeks; parents, Leon and Nona Bates of Clarksville; and one sister, Rhonda Leigh Armistead of Charlotte, N.C.

A private celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

Wilma Harms

Wilma Harms, 93, of Russellville died Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009.

She was a native of Optima, Okla., and daughter of the late August and Martha Klingsick Gieselmann. She met and married Jacob Harms and they moved to McPherson, Kan., where they raised their family and lived there for approximately 50 years. They moved to Russellville in 1995 to be close to their children.

She was a member of Piney Extension Homemakers Club, Grace Lutheran Church in Clarksville, and Lutheran Women's Missionary League, and a Sunday school teacher. She was a seamstress and quilter and made 246 quilts for the Arkansas Children's Hospital.

Among the survivors are one daughter, Evelyn Battershell and husband, Bob, of London; son-in-law, Darold Smith of Canyon, Texas; four grandchildren, Ron Battershell of London, Debra Battershell of North Little Rock, Heather Johnson and husband, Mike, of Canyon, Texas, and Dawn Tangri of Orlando, Fla.; five great-grandchildren, Courtney, Mackenzie and Dexter Johnson and Asha and Shanti Tangri; one sister, Ruth Kreutziger of Dumas, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16, at Grace Lutheran Church in Clarksville with Rev. Herb Swanson officiating.

Burial will be in Augsburg Lutheran cemetery under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service of Russellville.

Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 406, Clarksville, AR 72830.

Helen L. McKenney

Helen L. McKenney, 93, of Ozone died Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009, at her home.

She was a member of the Oark Grange and was preceded in death by her husband, Mack Hue McKenney.

Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews including Armand Duncan of Ozone.

There will be no service. The body will be cremated. Local arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
