Biographical And Historical Memoirs of Pulaski, Jefferson, Lonoke, Faulkner, Grant, Saline, Perry, Garland And Hot Spring Counties, Arkansas

Sadiebel Hutson
Sadiebel Shirkey Hutson, 81, of Hot Springs, formerly of Carlisle; died Feb. 20, 2001.
She was a Baptist, and before retirement active in the Republican Party.
Survivors include children, Irma Goodwin of Benton and Tim Hutson of Hot Springs; three grandchildren; three sisters, Ruby Culpepper of Little Rock, Dorothy Sims of Memphis and Betty Abbott of Cabot; and a brother, Lee Shirkey of Lonoke.
The body was cremated. Hot springs Funeral Home was in charge. Interment will be in Lone Tree cemetery, Stuttgart. A memorial service will be held in the spring.
Memorials may be made to the Boys’ and Girls’ Ranch, Audubon Society, Garland County Humane Society, or the chapel fund at Good Samaritan Campus in Hot Springs Village.

Jerusha Turner
Jerusha Holmes Turner, 83, of Greenbrier died Feb. 19, 2001.
She was a member of the Steel Bridge Baptist Church.
Survivors include daughters, Emma Lee Sharp of Greenbrier, Margie Donovan of Dover, Margret Burke of Alma and Betty Gunn of Carlisle; two sons, Windle Turner of Jacksonville and Thomas Turner of Conway; 25 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.
Funeral was Feb. 21 at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home Chapel, Conway, with Charles Hefley officiating. Burial was in Mt. Carmel cemetery, Cabot.

Zoie Wedge
Zoie Danielle Wedge, infant daughter of Michelle Wedge, died Wednesday.
Other survivors include grandparents, Marilyn James of Jacksonville and Jimmy James of Lonoke; great-grandparents, Carolyn and Everett Wedge of Dardanelle and Donald and Mary Sue James of Jacksonville.
Graveside services were Feb. 23, 2001, at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens by Westbrook Funeral Home of Beebe.

Stephen Strayhorn
Stephen Kermit Strayhorn, 43, died Feb. 13, 2001.
He was a computer programmer for Wal-Mart.
Survivors include his father, Kermit O. Strayhorn, Lonoke; grandparents, Faye Neal, Beebe, Orville and Bobb Strayhorn, Beebe, and Rhoda Stewart, Lonoke.
Memorial services were held Feb. 25, at Roller-Daniel Chapel. Interment was in White County Memorial Gardens by Roller-Daniel Funeral Home of Searcy.

Jerry Buchanan
Jerry Vaughn Buchanan, 51, of Stuttgart died Feb. 21, 2001.
Funeral was Feb. 25 at St. Paul Baptist Church, Lonoke, by Gunn Funeral Home, Stuttgart.

Julian Hatfield
Julian Hatfield, 74, died Wednesday.
He was a native of Lonoke County, a member of Union Valley Baptist Church, a Navy veteran of WWII and owner of Hatfield Home Improvements.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbie of England; sons, Ricky of Coy, Gary of Sherwood, Mike of England and Randy of Cabot; brother, David of Sherwood; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services were Friday, by Wilson Funeral Home in England. Interment was in Union Valley cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Union Valley Baptist Church, 306 Elam, England, AR 72046.

Lupe Flores
Lupe Flores, age 62, of Jacksonville died February 23, 2001.
He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Machinists and Aerospace Workers and a member of St. Jude’s Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Emilia Quinones Flores; son, Lupe Flores Jr. of Fort Worth, Texas; two daughters, Sophia Banja of Jacksonville, and Liza McPhail of Austin; five sisters, Angela, Mary, Suzanne, Janet and Eloisa; three brothers, Rocky, Robert and Lorenzo; and seven grandchildren.
There was a rosary Sunday, February 25, at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills, North Little Rock. Funeral Mass was February 26, at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Jacksonville with Father Thomas Arackal officiating. Burial was in Rest Hills Memorial Park.

Otis B. Crawford
July 20, 1934 - April 9, 2012
Otis B. Crawford, age 77 of Jacksonville passed away, Monday, April 9, 2012 at Baptist Springhill Medical Center in North Little Rock. He was born July 20, 1934 in Alexander, Arkansas to William and Leanna Porter Crawford. Mr. Crawford served in the US Air Force. He married Orean Dednam, who preceded him in death on March 13, 2010. Mr. Crawford was employed with Lamanco in Jacksonville for many years. He was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Jacksonville. Otis was also preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph Crawford, Harold Crawford and Joseph Crawford; two sisters, Valerie Crawford and Alice Thomas.
He is survived by his son, Dwight Crawford of Jacksonville; two grandchildren, Tevin and Cydnee Cox; two sisters, Evengelina Higgins and Bobbie Gooding, both of Alexander.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 16, 2012 at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Jacksonville. Interment will follow at Arkansas State Veterans cemetery in North Little Rock. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home. (501) 982-2136.

Dustin Edwards
Dustin Tyler Edwards, age 4, of Hamburg, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001.
He is survived by his father, Christopher Noel Edwards of Ward; a step-sister, Lacey Guy of Hamburg; his grandparents, Bruce and Carmen Edwards of Sugarland, Texas, L.D. and Janice Taylor of Delight; his great-grandmother, Dorothy “Gonny” Edwards of Sugarland, Texas.
Funeral was Feb. 27, at New Horizon Baptist Church, Ward, with burial in Pisgah cemetery, Murfreesboro, by Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe.

Robert Smith
Robert Earl “Pete” Smith, 71, of DeWitt died Feb. 23, 2001.
He was a retired farmer and welder.
Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Martin Smith; a son, Robert Smith of DeWitt; four daughters, Sue Chapman and Betty Smith, both of DeWitt, Evelyn Burgess and Mary Wylie, both of Cabot; three sisters, Ruby Griffin of Jonesboro, Phyllis James of DeWitt and Ida Belle Darris of San Angelo, Texas; a brother, Earnest Brewer of Earle; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral was Feb. 26 at Essex Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Bayou Meto cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
