G.L. “Leon” Kelley
G.L. “Leon” Kelley, 73, of Benton, died Sunday.

Survivors: daughters, Leah Stephens, Benton, Leslie Wolfe, Greenwood; brothers, Bill Kelley, Cabot, Bobby Kelley, Jacksonville; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were Feb. 5, at the McArthur Assembly of God Church in Jacksonville.

Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.

Samuel Probasco III
Samuel R. Probasco III, 81, of Cabot died Jan. 28, 2002.

He was a retired Army Colonel and a veteran of World War II. He was a fireman with the New York City Fire Department, where he remained until he joined the U.S. Army Air Force in early 1941. The post-war years saw him join and remain full time with the 50th Armored Division of the New Jersey National Guard in various positions of support and command until his retirement in 1977 as Air Defense Officer for the Philadelphia/Southern New Jersey area and the command of six separate missile sites. From 1977 until his death, he made his home in Cabot where he served with the fire department as Assistant Chief and Training Officer for several years.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotta, of 59 years; a son, Samuel R. Probasco IV of Sherwood; two daughters, Carol Probasco McHugh of Cabot and Patricia Probasco Town of Des Moines, Iowa; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held at Hope Presbyterian Church in Cabot Jan. 31.

Memorials may be made to the Cabot Fire Department, c/o Chief Gary Meadows, Cabot, Ark. 72023.

James T. Skelton
James T. Skelton, 74, of Cabot died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002.

He is survived by his wife, Sally; son, James Skelton of Cabot; daughters, Patricia Morehart of Cabot, Deborah Skelton of North Little Rock and Cheryl Sperry of Memphis; three sisters, eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Friday at Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home Chapel.

Memorials may be made to the Second Baptist Church in Jacksonville.

Louella Staton
Louella Staton, age 95, died Jan. 30, 2002.

She is survived by four sons, Lynville Staton of El Dorado, John Staton of Virginia, Everett Staton of Hot Springs and Carroll Staton of Texas; four daughters, Jennie Haggard and Shirley Horton of Lonoke, Aldah Hogue of North Little Rock and Clara Ferguson of Little Rock; 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Services were Friday at Boyd Funeral Home with interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Richard Dale Haynes
Richard Dale Haynes, age 68, of Cabot died Monday, Jan. 28, 2002.

Survivors are his wife, Patricia Haynes of the home; son, John Haynes of Prescott, Ariz.; and two daughters, Holly Allen of Show-Low, Ariz., and Tracy McGinnes of Tucson, Ariz.; step-son, Christopher Banks of Benton; two step-daughters, Sharon McClure of Quitman and Kelly Wright of Denver, Colo.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services were Thursday, Jan. 31, at Cabot Funeral Chapel. Interment was in Rest Hills Memorial Park. Arrangements by Cabot Funeral Home.

Charles David Cellars
Charles David Cellars, 85, of Little Rock, died Jan. 28, 2002.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and fought at Battle of the Bulge. He retired from Little Rock Police Department in 1964, Pulaski County Deputy Sheriffs in 1977, and Worthen Bank Security. While he was with the Police Department he made the first billy clubs for the other officers. He was a 50-year member of Western Lodge #2, Consistory of the Scottish Rite Bodies, Scimitar Shrine Temple, and was a 32nd Degree Mason.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Cellars of Little Rock; one son, Robert Allen Cellars of Jacksonville, two daughters, Diana Taylor of Little Rock, Mary Ann McElhaney of Little Rock; 19 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was Thursday at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Lonoke cemetery.

Crystal Elaine Wilson
Crystal Elaine Wilson, 46, of Little Rock died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002.

She was a member of Reynolds Memorial Baptist Church. Her writing career included a thousand-word short story entitled “Mama,” for which she won an Arkansas Literary Society Award for First Place Expository Writing in 1996. She was employed at the Centers for Mental Healthcare Research as a program manager.

She is survived by her husband of 19 years, Patrick Wilson, of Little Rock; her children, Patrick and Michael Wilson, both of Little Rock, Randy Sharp, of Batesville, Richard Sharp, of Gulfport, Miss.; her father, Jack Kyle, and his wife Lois, of Fort Smith; her mother, Grace Kyle, of Little Rock; three sisters, Melissa Davis, Kathy Walker, and Kelly Arnold, all of Fort Smith; and one brother, Jason Kyle, of Lonoke.

A gathering in remembrance was held Feb. 2, in the chapel of Griffin Leggett-Forest Hills, Alexander.

Memorials may be made to the Pulaski County Humane Society, 14600 Colonel Glenn Road, Little Rock, Ark. 72210.

C.C. Snider
C.C. Snider, age 79, of Carlisle died Jan. 30, 2002.
He was a retired farmer.
Survivors include his four children, Diane Uhiren of Houston, Miss., Debbie Mayher, Cheri Henderson and Cecil Snider of Carlisle; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services were Saturday at Immanuel Baptist Church in Carlisle. Burial was in Carlisle cemetery with arrangements by Boyd Funeral Home of Lonoke.

Iva Grey Taylor
Iva Grey Taylor, 91, of North Little Rock, widow of Otis E. Taylor, died January 30, 2002.

She was a member of the First Methodist Church of North Little Rock, where she was an active member of the Kings’ Daughters Sunday School Class. The Board of Missions of the Methodist Church awarded her a special membership in the Wesley Service Guild. From 1933-1941, she taught home economics in the Pulaski County Rural Schools. From 1941-1946, she was the County Supervisor for the Farmers Home Administration. From 1948 to retirement in 1976, she was Home Electrification Advisor and Manager of Member Service Department of First Electric Cooperative at Jacksonville.

There are no immediate survivors.

A gathering in remembrance of Iva Taylor was held Feb. 2, in the chapel of Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth, Little Rock. Burial was in Roselawn cemetery.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of North Little Rock, 6701 John F. Kennedy Blvd., North Little Rock, 72116.

Emma Jean Johnson
Emma Jean Johnson, 79, of Lonoke died Feb. 2, 2002.

Survivors include a son, Tommy Johnson of Prairie Grove; daughters, Bobbie Duch of Vilonia and Betty Rose Holmes of Hazen; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Maxine Finch of Lonoke and Kathryn Haury of New Mexico.

Funeral was Tuesday at Lonoke Baptist Church with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens by Boyd Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Lonoke Baptist Church.

John Johnson Jr.
John Fines Johnson Jr., 69, of Searcy died Feb. 2, 2002. He was a bricklayer.

Survivors include daughters, Pat Huggins of Cabot, Carol Lazenby of Daleville, Ala., and Lisa Hackett of Shirley; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Raymond Johnson of Gateway, Leo Johnson of Bradford, Paul Johnson of Step Rock, and Lloyd Johnson of Bradford.
Graveside service was Feb. 5 at Oakland cemetery, Possum Grape, by Roller-Daniel Funeral Home.
