John W. Webb

John W. Webb, 89, of Sherwood died November 4, 2003 at Arkansas Hospice.. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Webb, his parents, Joe and Ethel Webb, 1 brother and 3 sisters. He is survived by 2 daughters, Evelyn Webb and Carolyn Cash of Sherwood; 2 sisters, Donia Harbour of Cabot and Lilllie M. Johnson of NLR; 1 brother, J.D. Webb of LR; 1 granddaughter, Melissa Cash Whiting and husband Drew, and 1 great-granddaughter, Makayla Whiting, of Tichnor.

Mr. Webb was in the Navy and served in WWII. He was a former farmer and mechanic and retired from the Kroger Company.

Visitation will be Thursday, November 6 from 5-8 pm at the Cabot Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be Friday Nov. 7 at 11 a.m. at Sumner cemetery. Arrangements by Cabot Funeral Home, 501-843-5816.

Randy Lee Besancon

Randy Lee Besancon, Sr. age 55, of Jacksonville died July 23, 2004. He was born May 4, 1949 in Cabot to Hershel Lee Besancon and Jean Francis Besancon. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. Randy was employed as a supervisor for George Fischer and worked for Stone Container of Jacksonville for 33 years. He was preceded in death by his father Hershel Lee Besancon in 1984, his step-father, Sam Thompson in 2003 and his mother-in-law, Anne Moore in 2004.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Besancon, Jacksonville; his mother, Jean Besancon Thompson, Searcy; two sons, Randy Besancon, Jr. and wife, Stacey, Cabot, Daniel Besancon, Jacksonville; three daughters, Tina Rotenbury and husband, James, Russellville, Rebecca Denney and husband, Floyd, Pottsville, Rachel Besancon, Jacksonville; two aunts, Lillian Besancon and Pauline Harden both of Cabot; six grandchildren, Brannah, Hunter, and Averi Besancon, Cabot; Rusty and Jessica Rotenbury, Russellville; and Bradlee Denney, Pottsville.
Funeral services were 1 p.m., Monday, July 26 at Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home with Reverend Roger Pearce of Grace Baptist Church in Russellville officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Carmel cemetery in Cabot under direction of Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home.

Visitation was 3 to 5 p..m., Sunday, July 25 at Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home.

Jack E. Freshour

Jack E. Freshour, 65, of North Little Rock, owner of Freshour Construction Co. in Cabot, died Monday, July 19, 2004. He attended the University of Arkansas and was a member of SAE fraternity.

Jack served as president of the Arkansas Chapter, Associated General Contractors of America, Inc., in 1984. He was a recipient of the Distinguished Service Award from the Arkansas Chapter AGC. He continuously served on the Board of Directors from 1987 and was a member of the AGC Highway Committee, Highway Specification Committee and the Legislative Committee.
He was a member of the SASHTO Joint Committee, and a member of the National AGC Board of Directors from March 1987 and reached Lifetime Director status in March 1999. He was recognized and commended at the 2004 AGC of America National Convention in Orlando, Fla., for being a 25-year contributor to the AGC of America Political Action Committee. He was the founding treasurer of UALR-University History Institute.

Survivors include his wife, Sandy Freshour; two daughters, Michele Teske and Nicole Green; son, Jack Freshour, all of Gallatin, Tenn.; and four grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to UALR-University History Institute or Pulaski County Humane Society.

A memorial service was held at 10 a.m. Friday at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel.

Douglas James Page

Douglas James Page, age 25, of Jacksonville, died Tuesday, July 20, in a Little Rock hospital from injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident.
He lived in Cabot before moving to Jacksonville and was an independent contractor and a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, April Dawn Thomas Page; his parents, Clyde and Peggy Page of Jacksonville; two brothers, Kenneth Page of Stuttgart and James Anthony Page of California; a sister, April Golden of Florida; his maternal grandparents, Douglas and Katherine Stubbs of Oklahoma.

Services were held at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, Forrest City, Friday with burial in Barnishaw cemetery following.

Alvie J. Wadkins, Sr.

Alvie Jerry Wadkins, Sr., age 63, of Ward, died Saturday, July 24, 2004.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years Vernia Sue Hill Wadkins; two sons: Jerry Jr. & Preston Wadkins; five daughters: Joy Pepiot, Pam Powers, Andrea and Becky Wadkins, and Sherry Sue Ann Stanley; one sister Louise; three brothers: Ronnie, Douglas and Junior; two step-sons: Ricky & Scott Moore; 18 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation was July 25, 2004. Services were Monday, July 26, 2004 at Ward First Baptist Church with Bro. Mike Fowler officiating. Interment followed at Monk cemetery. Arrangements by Thomas Funeral Service.

Warner Looney, Jr.

Warner O’dell Looney, Jr., 81, of Humnoke went to be with the Lord on Sunday evening July 25, 2004. He was a World War II veteran and a Baptist minister. He was born to Warner O’dell Looney, Sr., and Lillian Dismuke Looney on April 25, 1923.

He was preceded in death, by 48 days, by his beloved wife of 62 years, “Dink”. He had a big soft heart that was broken when he lost his mate. He loved to sing and laugh and always had a funny story to tell. He and his wife instilled in their children the importance of a good work ethic and a great love for the Lord and His Church.

Survivors include one sister, Louise Red of Little Rock; three sons, Bill (Patsy) Looney of Sherwood, Jesse (Frances) Looney of DeWitt, Gary (Joy) Looney of Bald Knob; three daughters, Joan Crawford of Humnoke, Sharon (Gary) Cauley of England, Susan (Harvey) Wiles of Carlisle; nine grandchildren and nine and one/half great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Tuesday, July 27, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in England. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 28 at Rowe’s Chapel Church north of Hunoke. Interment was at Hamilton cemetery.

Anne Rudell Carden

Anne Rudell Hudson Carden, 93, of Little Rock, died July 25, 2004.
She was a 60-year member of Immanuel Baptist Church of Little Rock. She was a lifetime member of the PTA.

She is survived by her sons, Charles R. Hudson Jr., Robert and Jordan Hudson Sr.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held at Mount Carmel cemetery in Cabot, Wednesday. Roller Chenal Funeral Home was in charge.

Her memorial service will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church Chapel on Thursday, July 29, 2004, at 10 a.m.

Memorials to the Tele-Bible Class at Immanuel Baptist Church, 501 North Shackleford Road, Little Rock, Ark. 72211.

Roy E. Shirley Sr.

Roy Ewing Shirley Sr., age 58, died July 25, 2004.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Shirley; children, Roy Shirley Jr., Elizabeth Shirley, Tamatha Keys, Daniel Newton, Thomas Parker, Grace Parker and Nessie Hodo; 14 grandchildren; and sister, Elizabeth Browning.

Graveside service, Concord cemetery, Wednesday, 2 p.m. Arrangements, Boyd Funeral Home, Lonoke.

Eula Mae Lee Massey

Eula Mae Lee Massey, age 91, of Beebe, died at Mt. Vernon, Texas, where she had lived the last years of her life.

She is survived by one son, Durrell Stevens of Talco, Texas; one stepdaughter, Jean Killough of Mt. View; two stepsons, Leon Massey of Beebe and Wendell Ray Massey of Harlingen, Texas; 12 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Phillip and Michael Lee of North Little Rock.

Funeral was July 21, at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe with burial in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens.

Sharon Kay Gill

Sharon Kay Gill, 54, of Lake Village, died Friday, July 16, 2004.
She is survived by two sons - Michael Joe Golden of McGehee, Todd Golden of Gaines Landing; two brothers - F.H. Gill and Delmar Ray Gill, both of McGehee; three sisters - Faye Shepard of Little Rock, Peggy Vickers of Cabot, Earnestine Maulin of Dumas; five grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Thursday at Griffin Funeral Service Chapel of McGehee with cremation arrangements by Griffin Funeral Service of McGehee.
