Berniece Bryson

Berniece Bryson, 80, died Friday, Sept. 3, 2004.

She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include one son, Andy Bryson of Jonesboro; three daughters, Rose Lee Bishop and Janice Williams of Paragould, Peggy Harpole of Cabot; one brother, Mack Wince of Paragould; two sisters - Darlene Phillips of West Memphis, and Shirlene Miller of Leesburg, Fla.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Monday at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Mt. Zion cemetery.

Craig Allen Kuske

Craig Allen Kuske, age 29, died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2004.

His mother, Brenda Carnes Dunlap of Shreveport, La.; two sisters - Summer Stubbs of Georgia and Autumn Miller of Florida; his grandmother Ada Carnes of Lonoke survive him.

Funeral services were September 7, at Boyd Funeral Home, Lonoke, with interment in Hicks cemetery.

Pauline Mattmiller

Pauline Marie Quandt Mattmiller, 88, of Hamburg died Friday.

She was a native of Arkansas Post; a resident of Hamburg since 1949 and a former resident of Gillett. She worked at Harrison’s Department Store in Hamburg for many years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she was an active member of the United Methodist Women for many years and a member of the Rolf Whitlow Sunday School Class.

She is survived by a daughter, Nancy Hennington of Hamburg; a sister, Freddie Barnett of Cabot; two grandchildren.

Funeral services were Sunday at the First United Methodist Church in Hamburg. Burial was in the Hamburg cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home of Hamburg.

Memorials may be made to the Hamburg First United Methodist Church, 202 S. Main, Hamburg, Ark. 71646.

Orville T. Thompson

Orville Thomas Thompson, age 92, of Beebe, died Sept. 3, 2004.

Survivors are his children, Willie Mae Thompson Nemec of Eureka Springs, Bobby Ray Thompson of Upland, Calif., Mary Margaret Phillips of Beebe, and Hays Thompson of Cabot; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and one step-grandson.

Funeral was Sept. 7, at Westbrook Funeral Home, with burial in Antioch cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Antioch cemetery Association.

Jerry Fry

Jerry “JO” Fry, 61, of Cabot died July 30, 2004. He is preceded in death by his parents, William Odell Fry and Mary Lee Jordan. Survivors include his wife of the home, Sandy Fry of Cabot; son, Bill Fry of Newport, AR; daughter, Lena Clemons, of Newport, AR; step-son, Tommy Middleton of Cave City, AR; sister, Cathey Brown of Cabot; brother, Clayton Fry of Cabot; two step-grandchildren, Dillon Middleton and Wyatt Middleton and many adopted friends and children.

Visitation was held Sunday, Aug. 1, from 3 p.m.-7 p.m. at the Cabot Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services were Monday, Aug. 2, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Tabor Methodist Church in Cabot with Steve Porch officiating. Interment was at Mt. Carmel cemetery in Cabot. Funeral Arrangements by Cabot Funeral Home, 700 N. Second St, 501-843-5816.

Eloise B. McCall

Eloise Brunson McCall, age 86, died Tuesday, July 27, 2004.

Mrs. McCall lived in Lonoke for 55 years. After the death of her husband in 1997, she moved to Parkstone Place in North Little Rock, where she continued to enjoy a rich, full life. She loved going camping, traveling and spending time with her family. She played bridge with friends and was involved in many church activities. She drove and lived independently until the last two months of her life. She was a friend to many and will be remembered by her smile and positive attitude.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Robert Sevier McCall Sr., and her parents, Dr. William Edgar Brunson and Sarah Elizabeth Ledbetter Brunson, and a brother, James Fitzhugh Brunson of Baton Rouge, La.

She was survived by her children, Eloise McCall Brown, and husband, Ken, of Clinton, Ark.; Sarah McCall Hawley, and husband, Lloyd, of Prairie Grove, Ark.; Robert S. McCall Jr., and wife, Janice, of Lonoke, Ark.; Elizabeth McCall of North Little Rock, Ark.; grandchildren, William Brown, Sarah Brown Duck, Margaret Brown Greene, Captain Vince Hawley, Marcus Hawley, Rachel Hawley, Melaney McCall Hedrick and Molly McCall; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Alayna and Cami Hawley, Elizabeth Ann and Alister Brown, Megan and Hayley Hedrick, Kyle and William Greene and Jacob Duck; two brothers, Lt. Co. (Ret.) William P. Brunson of Norfolk, Va., and Lt. Commander (Ret.) Robert E. Brunson of Virginia Beach, Va.

Mrs. McCall was born in Swan Lake, Ark. on May 22, 1918. She graduated from Altheimer High School May 29, 1936 as valedictorian. She received her Arkansas Teachers license on Feb. 6, 1936. She went on to attend and graduate from Arkansas A&M in Monticello in May 1939.

Mrs. McCall taught school full-time for a total of 28 years before retiring in the spring of 1978 to travel with her husband, Bob. Her 28-year teaching career covered schools in Sherrill, Scott and Lonoke.

Mrs. McCall was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, Daughters of the American Revolution, life member of Military Rivers Association of America and 58-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lonoke before moving her membership to the Parkhill Presbyterian Church in North Little Rock.

Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Lonoke or the Marjorie Walker McCrary Memorial Library at Lonoke, Ark.

Friends were received by the family from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, July 30, at Boyd Funeral Home in Lonoke.

A service remembrance was held Saturday, July 31, at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Lonoke, Ark.

Erma Lucille Freck

Erma Lucille Freck, 95, of Cabot, died August 2, 2004. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Freck; parents, William Skinkle and Jenny Booth; two sisters; one brother, and two great-grandsons.

She is survived by her sons; Robert Freck; Jackson, MI, Earl Freck; Jackson, MI, Irving Freck; Cabot; daughters, Marilyn Booth; Cabot, June Thomas; Michigan Center, MI, Barbara Jennkins; Leslie, MI, sister, Letha Linburg; Jackson, MI; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 4, from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. at the Cabot Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services will be Thursday, August 5, at 10 am, at the Cabot Funeral Home Chapel. Bobby Lee King

Bobby Lee King, 75, of Lonoke, died July 28, 2004. He was retired from Action Heating and Air, a cattle farmer and a veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Providence United Methodist Church.

King is survived by his wife of 52 years, Alice Mae Hoggard King; one son, Robert King of Lonoke; one daughter, Susan Orlicek of Texas; three grandchildren; and one brother, Billy Ray King of North Little Rock.

Funeral services were 10 a.m. Saturday, July 31, 2004, at Westbrook Funeral Home, with burial in Oak Grove cemetery. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Arkansas, 10411 West Markham Street, Suite 130, Little Rock, AR 72205-1409.

Janelle Hughes

Janelle Hughes “Nay Nay”, 42, died July 29, 2004 in San Antonio, Texas. She spent most of her life in the Cabot area before she became house bound with her illness. She was born July 14, 1962 in Wichita, Kansas to Mary A. Bodenheimer; Stuggart, AR and Mac E. Peck, San Antonio, TX.

She is survived by her parents; two daughters, Tabatha Halverson; Stuttgart, AR and Desiree Grisham, Cabot; one son, Ian Stewart, North Little Rock; two grandsons, Brennen Halverson and Camron Scott.

The funeral was August 1, in San Antonio, under the direction of Sunset Funeral Services, of San Antonio.

Macle Witcher

Macle M. Witcher, 80, of Bixby, Okla., formerly of Ward, died July 30, 2004. She was born July 30, 1924, at Toltec. She lived in Ward most of her life, graduating from Ward High School. She worked at the Jacksonville Ordnance Plant and was a Rosie The Riveter in San Diego, Calif. during war time. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Ward.

She is survived by one daughter, Linda Fay of Bixby, Okla.; one son, David Lee Starrett of Bixby, Okla.; one stepson, Aubrey Witcher of Benton; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Virgil Cook of Ward and a sister, Beatrice Howard of Ward.

Visitation was Sunday at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Funeral was Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at Ward First Baptist Church, with burial in Mountain Springs cemetery.
