Paul Rachel
Paul N. Rachel, 94, a resident of Springdale, formerly of Lamar, died icon Friday, March 27, 2009, at the Circle of Life Hospice House in Springdale.
He was born icon May 15, 1914, in Russellville to Walter Adam and Lillie Catherine Bramlet Rachel. He was a former sawmill operator for many years, operating in Pope and Johnson counties; was a former member of the Lamar Church of Christ where he served as elder and Sunday School teacher for many years; was a member of the Johnson Church of Christ in Johnson; and enjoyed deer and turkey hunting, playing cards and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Mildred Lucille Pitman Rachel; four brothers; and four sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Vernell “Nell” Selby Rachel of Springdale; three daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Phillip Sanders of Springdale, Bonita and Alan Johnson of Little Rock and Joyce and Leon Strope of Fayetteville; a step-son and step-daughter-in-law, Ron and Lisa Selby of Sherwood; a sister, Sybil Lloyd of Georgetown, Texas; five grandchildren, Alnita Carroll, Stacie Holloway, Emily Johnson, Tammy Morrison and Kevin Strope; two step-grandsons, Jared and Joshua Selby; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday, March 30, 2009, at the Lamar Church of Christ with Mr. Dale G. Brown officiating.
Burial will be at the Lamar Cemetery icon in Lamar under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service.
Active pallbearers are Kevin Strope, Levi Strope, Russell Keck, Jared Selby, Phillip Carroll, John Holloway, Juuso Jankama and Joshua Selby.
Honorary pallbearers are Don Tanner, Selby Brown, Edwin Shinn and Gerald “Butch” Baurichter.
Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Johnson Church of Christ Building Fund, 5602 Elmore St., Springdale, AR 72762 or the Circle of Life Hospice House, 901 Jones Road, Springdale, AR 72762.

B.J. Martin
B.J. Martin, 69, passed away Friday, Feb. 20, 2009, with his family around him.
He was born icon May 28, 1939, in London, Ark., to Ira and Clara (Eledge) Martin. B.J. married icon Sue Lawrence on April 9, 1960. Two children were born icon to this union. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. In his spare time you would often find him enjoying a round of golf or a spirited game of pool.
B.J. is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Sue; his children, Kirk Martin and his wife, Sue, and Kim Morris and her husband, Lloyd; sister, Joyce Srader; his beloved grandson, Joseph Martin; great-granddaughter, Danica Martin; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 24, in the Chapel Hill Funeral Home Chapel, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Ariel Saenz
Ariel Dawn Saenz was born icon and died icon Friday, Feb. 20, 2009.
Survivors include her parents, Joe and Katie Saenz of Russellville; a brother, Tattan Cummings; sisters, Kaitlyn Saenz and Grace Saenz; grandparents, Karin Scissel, Bonnie Saenz, and Cliff and Mary Cummings; great-grandparents, Howard and Dorthy Whooten; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009, at Life in Jesus Trinity Church. Cremation arrangements are by Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins.

Velma Thompson
DANVILLE - Velma Dessie Thompson, 95, of Gravelly died icon Monday, Feb. 23, 2009, at Mitchell's Nursing Home.
She was born icon Oct. 17, 1913, in Blackford to Grover and Mary Sutton Cost. She was a school teacher at Fourche Valley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Thompson; a brother, Alva Cost; and a sister, Bonnie Billingsley.
Survivors include a son, Buel Thompson of Gravelly; a sister, Elma Defoor of Desoto, Kan.; and several nephews and nieces.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009, at Nola Church of Christ. Burial will be in Parks Cemetery. Arrangements are by Cornwell Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Thursday prior to the service.

Jon Hall
DARDANELLE - Jon Lyn Hall, 62, of Russellville died icon Friday, Jan. 30, 2009, at McClellan Veterans Administration Hospital in Little Rock.
He was born icon March 22, 1946, in Stamps, Ark., son of the late Don and Carolyn Gore Hall. He was owner/operator of Hall’s Industrial Services. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War receiving the Navy Achievement Award with Valor, a lifetime member of Rogers-Rye Post 2283 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Russellville and a member of the Russellville Chapter of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ray Hall.
Survivors include a son, Jason Ray Hall of Russellville; brothers, Jim Hall of Magnolia and Bob Hall of El Dorado; sisters, Nan Watson of Stamps and Helen Wyrick of Frisco, Texas; a grandson, Gary Ray Hall of Russellville; and several nephews and nieces.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at Cornwell Chapel with Alan Bradley officiating. Burial will be in Pisgah Cemetery icon with military honors by Rogers-Rye Post 2283 of the VFW. Arrangements are by Cornwell Funeral Home.
Pallbearers:
Active - members of the National Guard at Dardanelle.
Honorary - Gary Don Hall, Ryan Phillips, Mike Watson, Jason Hall, Bob Hall, Jim Hall, and members of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and Rogers-Rye Post 2283 of VFW.

Donna Mefford
CLARKSVILLE - Donna Carol Mefford, 50, of Lamar died icon Friday, Jan. 30, 2009, at her home.
She was born icon April 7, 1958, at Clarksville, daughter of the late Rosco and Lizzie Chavers Mefford, and attended Jamestown Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include sons, Billy Hughes and wife, Renay, Terry Hughes and Christopher Hughes, all of Lamar; brothers, Johnny Mefford of Clarksville and Doyle Mefford of Greenbriar; sisters, Jackie Pelts and husband, Berry, Louise Culey and Dimple Karston of Clarksville, and Imogene King and husband of Ozone; and grandchildren, Shawn Hughes of Lamar and Cheyanne Rolla of Clarksville.
The body was cremated. Arrangements are by Hardwicke Funeral Home.

John Loveland
John “Bill” Loveland, 80, of St. Louis, Mo., formerly of Appleton, died icon Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009, at St. Louis.
The son of John and Minnie Lacy Loveland, he was born icon April 19, 1928, in Appleton. He married icon Mildred McQuerry on Dec. 25, 1955, at Little Rock. He was a rate clerk with Union Pacific Railroad. He enjoyed writing and was a published author. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Ira "Bad Egg" Loveland; and one grandchild.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Loveland; five children, Wendell Loveland Paula Loveland, Karen Scott, Joy McDaniels and Alan Loveland; seven grandchildren, two sisters, Clara Loveland and Floann Bartlett; one brother, Millard “Skeets” Loveland; and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Appleton Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Randell Williams will officiate. Burial will in Appleton Cemetery icon under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.
Visitation will be from 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Eula Beavers
CLARKSVILLE - Eula Faye Beavers, 77, of Clarksville died icon Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009, at Russellville.
She was born icon Sept. 15, 1931, at Clarksville. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Beulah L. Doke Patton; a brother, Bill Patton; a grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Arthur Beavers; a son, Buddy Beavers and his wife, Barbara, of Coal Hill; daughters, Wilma Pruitt and husband, Charles, of Clarksville, Judy Ware and husband, David, of Rockford, Ill., and Sharon O’Sullivan and husband, Ronnie, of Byron, Ill.; brothers, Ray Patton of Alma, Reece Patton of Rockford, Ill., and Tom Patton and Frank Patton of Clarksville; a sister, Willene Patton of Louisiana; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009, at Coal Hill Assembly of God Church with Brother John Kindrix and the Rev. William Sowells officiating. Burial will be in Lone Pine Cemetery. Arrangements are by Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Pallbearers:
Active - Chuck Beavers Jr., Ricky O’Sullivan, Kyle Pruitt, Michael Ferguson, Sean Ferguson, Billy Pruitt and Chad Ware.
Honorary - Jeffery Pruitt, Dustin Pruitt, Dalton Beavers, Dakota Beavers, Darrell Coogan, Justin Pruitt, Logan Ware and Ayden Muelan.
Visitation will be from 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.
