Tempy Wagner
CLARKSVILLE - Tempy L. Wagner, 96, of Clarksville died icon Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010, at Clarksville.
She was born icon Oct. 28, 1914, at Protection, Kan., and married icon Clifton C. Wagner on Dec. 23, 1933, in Linneus, Mo. She was a former Girl Scout leader, volunteer at the County Extension Service teaching crafts, and a member of the Johnson County Auxiliary and First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sherman and Ora Black Cutsinger; husband, Clifton C. Wagner; brothers, Carl, Grover and John “Jack” Cutsinger; daughter and son-in-law, Anna Mae Lash and Everette L. Lash; and daughter-in-law, Irene Wagner.
Survivors include sons, Clifton J. Wagner of Killeen, Texas, Buddy L. Wagner and wife, Patricia, of Columbus, Neb., and Roy D. Wagner and wife, Claudia, of Clarksville; 14 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
A private family memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
The family requests no flowers but that all memorials be directed to Clarksville First Baptist Church.
Arrangements are by Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

James Bolin
James H. Bolin, age 74, of Russellville, died icon Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, at Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center.
A son of the late John Alexander and Etta Ridgley Bolin, he was born icon April 29, 1936, in Pottsville. He was a former Russellville city police officer, and served Pope County as sheriff from 1981 through 1991. He attended the Crow Mountain Baptist Church. He was also preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Helen R. Johnson Bolin; a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Bessie Bolin; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Laverne and Joe Brown, and Nadine Matchett.
Survivors include two daughters, Connie Bolin Dial and her husband, Dr. Patrick Dial, of Pensacola, Fla.; and Debbie Bolin Young and her husband, Scott Young, of Hot Springs; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Johnny and Lois Bolin and Billy and Maria Bolin, all of Russellville; and Paul and Betty Bolin of Springfield, Mo.; a sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Steve Stevens of Springfield; six grandchildren, Kristy Chayne Ball of Fort Smith, Jamey Charles Collins and his wife, April, of Dallas, Texas, Seth Randall Roller and his wife, Kayli, of Salt Lake City, Utah, Patrick Dial of Washington, D. C., Robert Dial of Baton Rouge, La.; and Katelin Dial and her husband, Frank Haney, of Washington, D.C.; seven great-grandchildren, Taylor Dee Winford, Andrew James Ball, James Scott “J.J.” Collins, Chayne Elizabeth Ball, Brooklyn Darlene Ball, Hayes Colton Roller and Alice Haney; and his close friend and companion, Delma Casey of Russellville.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 20, 2010, at the Shinn Chapel officiated by Chaplain Paul Northcut and former Pope County Sheriff Jay Winters. Entombment with honors provided by the Pope County Sheriff’s Department will be in the Rest Haven Memorial Park Mausoleum by Shinn Funeral Service.
Active pallbearers will be members of the Pope County Sheriff’s Department.
Honorary pallbearers will be sheriffs and former sheriffs of the counties of the state of Arkansas.
The family will receive friends from 3-4 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Battered Women’s Shelter, P.O. Box 2066, Russellville, AR 72811.

Ruth Tippin
Ruth Tippin, 81, of Russellville went to be with the Lord on Friday, Dec. 17, 2010. The daughter of Roy and Ila Linn Best, she was born icon Jan. 12, 1929, in Russellville. She was a member of the Russellville First Assembly of God Church and the North New Hope Assembly of God quilters. Quilting brought her great joy. Ruth worked for Brown’s Catfish for 28 years before retiring in 2008. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 56 years, Edwin D. Tippin; brother, Bert Best and sister, Rose Potter.
Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Kayleen Grace and husband Michael of Russellville, Elizabeth Reed and husband Tom of Raleigh, N.C.; son, James Edwin Tippin and wife Trisha of Dowagiac, Mich.; seven grandchildren, Christopher Grace and Shelsey of Madison, Ala., Brian Hamilton Grace of Russellville, David Reed and Kelley Nichole Reed of Raleigh, N.C., Scott Tippin of Fort Wayne, Ind., Aaron Tippin of Dowagiac, Mich., Ben Tippin of Tulsa, Okla.; three great grandchildren, Jordan Riley, Emma Tippin and Alexander James Tippin; two brothers, Burl Hayes Best of Branson, Mo., and John Best of Hammond, Ind.; sister, Linda Sanders of Hammond, Ind.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m., Monday, Dec. 20, 2010, at the First Assembly of God Church in Russellville. The Rev. Christopher Grace, Rev. Berl Best, Rev. Ronnie Morris and Al Brown will officiate. Burial will be at Brearley Cemetery icon in Dardanelle by Humphrey Funeral Service. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Chuck Gipson
DARDANELLE - Charles L. Gipson, age 78, of Dardanelle died icon Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, at his home.
He was born icon April 30, 1932, at Mountain Home to Charles Edward and Lucy Caldonia Grigsby Gipson. He enlisted in the Army Air Corp., August 1947, where he was stationed at Scott Air Base, Ill. He transferred to the 82nd Airborne at Fort Benning, Ga., GA Mos Military Police, then transferred to Japan in December 1948, then to the 24th Infantry Division, 19th Regf, Co. F, August 1949 and left Korea in April 1951. He was discharged December 1952 from San Antonio, Texas. His awards include Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge, Army of Occupation (Japan), Korean SVC Medal with five Bronze SVC Stars, UN SVC Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, South Korea Victory Medal. He became a barber in April 1954 and followed his trade until 2010. He barbered in Dallas, Texas, Atlanta, Ga., Texarkana, Texas, Russellville then Dardanelle. He was ordained as a Baptist minister in 1973 where he served as pastor in Arkansas and Texas. His hobbies include genealogy and history.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Womack Gipson of Dardanelle; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Stephen Gipson of Russellville, and Charles B. and Lisa Gipson of Knoxville, Tenn.; three daughters, Mava White Eagle of Columbia, Mo., Heidi Landsell of Dardanelle and Allison Andrews of Bowling Green, Ky.; one sister, Billie Sherer of Phoenix, Ariz.; two brothers, Edward Gipson of Conroe, Texas, and Keith Gipson of Balch Springs, Texas; 10 grandchildren, Alex, Adam, Stephen Lamar Jr., Richard, Leah, Anna, Chad, Tamara, Monica and Jonathan.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 20, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church in Dardanelle with Jim Benfer officiating. Burial will be in Brearley Cemetery. Arrangements are by Cornwell Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Nadine Simmons
Nadine D. Hicks Simmons, 85, of Russellville died icon Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, at Stella Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born icon in Austin, Ark., on Jan. 17, 1925, to William Thomas and Allie May Smith Hicks.
She graduated from high school in Beebe in 1942 and started college at Beebe Junior College that summer. In the fall of 1942, she was asked to fill in as a teacher at Oak Grove Elementary School when so many teachers left for work at the Jacksonville Ordnance Plant in support of World War II, where she also went to work the next year. She later became payroll clerk at the Imperial Laundry and Cleaners in Little Rock until March 1946.
On March 31, 1946, she married icon Cleo Simmons, her high school sweetheart, six days after he returned from the war. They had three sons.
When the youngest son started first grade, Nadine returned to school and graduated with honors from Arkansas Tech University in 1961 with a bachelor of arts degree in education. She taught third grade at Dwight Elementary School for 24 years, retiring in 1985. Nadine was selected as teacher of the month for her school in 1980. She was a member of Beta Nu of Delta Kappa Gamma Honorary Teachers Sorority, CTA and state and national education associations. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and visiting with grandchildren.
Nadine became an active member of the First Baptist Church of Russellville when the family moved to Russellville in December 1956. She taught Sunday school in the early years and later worked with the children’s AWANA program for over 12 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, William E., Gerald R., Doyce L. and Gary L. Hicks; a sister, Melba Jane Davidson; and a brother-in-law, Edward Simmons.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years; their three sons, James William and his wife Ann of Russellville, Rickey Cleo and his wife Linda of Fort Worth, Texas, and Phillip Edward and his wife Becky of Bellingham, Wash.; four sisters-in-law, Ovella Simmons of Lonoke, Martha Hicks of Austin, Christine Hicks of Little Rock and Carolyn Hicks of Ward; a brother-in-law, Leland Davidson of Cabot; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives, friends and church family.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010, at First Baptist Church officiated by the Rev. Stephen Davis and the Rev. Tom Walker. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Oak Grove Cemetery icon near Austin by Shinn Funeral Service. Active and honorary pallbearers will be members of the Berean Senior Adult Sunday School Class. The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 200 South Denver Ave., Russellville, AR 72801.

Morris Moudy
Morris Lavon Moudy, age 89, of Russellville died icon Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, at his home.
He was born icon Oct. 23, 1921, at Belleville to Herbert and Florence Wilkerson Moudy. He was a lifetime member of the Russellville Veterans of Foreign Wars and a World War II veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Vernon Moudy and Mason Moudy; and two sisters, Verdell Brooksher and Wanada Havner.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Moudy of Russellville; one daughter, Kathy Chivers and husband, Bill, of Pottsville; four sons, John Moudy and wife, Peggy, of Hope, Mike Moudy and wife, Jeannie, of Dardanelle, Gary Moudy and wife, Nina, of Russellville, and Patrick Moudy and wife, Dianna, of Burkburnett, Texas; a stepdaughter, Donna Johnson and husband, Dennis, of Hector; three stepsons, Allen Small of Russellville, Todd Small of Russellville, and Mark Small and wife, Glenda, of Scottsville; 21 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Memorial Service will be at 2 p.m. today at Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle with Don Irwin officiating. Arrangements are by Cornwell Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1:30-2 p.m. prior to service.

John Turner
John Mansfield Turner, 75, of Oark died icon Dec. 17, 2010, at his home. He was born icon Jan. 16, 1935, in Franklin County. He was a retired machinist.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elias Stonewall and Maggie May Madewell Turner.
No funeral service is planned at this time.
John is survived by his wife, Virginia Wallace Turner; three sons, Michael Turner of Oark, Jimmy Turner of Fayetteville and Jayce Turner of Oark; and five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home in Clarksville.

Jean Hendrix
Imogene “Jean” Hendrix, 88, of Dardanelle died icon Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010, at Dardanelle Nursing Center. She was born icon Sept. 14, 1922, at Saragordo, Okla. to the late Ralph and Dolly Hill Collins. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cecil Hendrix; a son, Walter Hendrix; sisters, Etoula Van Pelt and Dorothy Williams.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Harold Elston of London; 10 grandchildren and at least five great grandchildren.
A private burial will be held in California at a later date.
Cremation arrangements by Cornwell Funeral Home in Dardanelle.
