GEORGE SIMKINS

George B. Simkins, 71, died in Fayetteville Saturday, June 23, 2007, after an extended illness.

He was born August 25, 1935 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the son of George Harold and Katherine Bird Simkins.

He retired from Ozarks Electric Cooperative Corp. in 1996 after 34 years. He graduated from Rogers High School and the University of Arkansas with a degree in Agricultural Engineering. He served in the U.S. Army. He was a past president of the Noon Lions Club and a member of Central United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Asbury Sunday School Class and served on the Board of Trustees and Administrataive Board.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Ann Willis Simkins

Two sons:

Paul Simkins and his wife, Nancy of Fayetteville
Alan Simkins and his wife, Tracy of Scottsdale, Arizona

Three grandsons:

Austin and Quinn Simkins of Fayetteville
Aidan Simkins of Scottsdale, Arizona

Six sisters:

Mary Ann Deffenderfer of Ozark, Missouri
Janice Frazier of Jefferson City, Missouri
Helen Uher of Cochoction, Ohio
Nellie Hawkins of Cochoction, Ohio
Clara Shearn of Cochoction, Ohio
Dolly Freeman of Cochoction, Ohio

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 26, at Central United Methodist Church.

Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens under the direction of Moore s Chapel.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at Moore s Chapel.

Ray Dean Donnell

Ray Dean Donnell, age 83, died Friday, April 14, 2006.

He was born Sept. 1, 1922 to Sam and Grace (Beaty) Donnell in Archie, Mo.; graduated from Archie High School in Archie, Mo.; worked for Boeing Aircraft in Seattle Wash.; served in the Army Air Corp in the 48th 4th Bomb Group; worked at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, NM; and was a member of the Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary Louise Lohr.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lavoise Donnell of Abilene, Texas; two sons, Clifford Donnell of Oklahoma City, Okla. and Nils Donnell of Abilene, Texas; one brother, Robert Donnell of Seattle, Wash.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 17 at the Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel with Les McGallard, minister, officiating. Burial will follow in the Masonic Section of the Abilene Municipal cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to De Queen Church of Christ.

ALVIN COSTELLO

Alvin Costello, 87, of Winslow, Arkansas died Friday, June 15, 2007, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville.

He was born December 13, 1919 in New York City, New York.

He was owner of Papa Al's Upholstery in Winslow. He was a Baptist.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel Costello January 2, 2001.

He is survived by two sons:

Don Brotherton of Winslow
J. D. Brotherton of Springdale

Three daughters:

Nita Johnson of Farmington
Mona Richcreek of Wichita, Kansas
Joyce Stone of Winslow

Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren

Cremation arrangements were by Moore's Chapel. There are no funeral services planned.

LINDA LON SCRANTON

Linda Lon Scranton, 63, of Wesley died Tuesday, June 26, 2007, at her home.

She was born April 4, 1944 in Fort Smith, Arkansas, the daughter of Tom Albert and Dorothy Brown Rose.

She worked at Levi Strauss and was a doll maker. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene at Waldron, Arkansas.

She is survived by: Her husband of 48 years, Luther Denzel Scranton

Two sons:

Mike Scranton of Wesley
Mark A. Scranton of Thorney Creek, AR

One daughter:

Debi Fields of Thorney Creek, AR

Four grandchildren:

Sgt. Jason Fields of Camp Pendelton, CA
Josh Fields of Batesville
Nick Scranton of Elkins
Paige Scranton of Elkins

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 28, at Moore s Chapel.
Officiating: The Rev. Lynville Eaton
Burial will be in Mt. Olive cemetery
Memorials: Alzheimer's Association for Research, 1125 N. College, Fayetteville, AR 72703
