Mr. Tom Mills

Mr. Tom L. Mills, age 75, resident of Horatio, died Sunday, May 15, 2005 in the De Queen Medical Center.

He was born to Teba Lewis, Sr. and Lula Alice Long Mills at Marshall, Texas, on April 20, 1930. He was retired owner of Town North Body Shop in Phoenix, Arizona. He served with the Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean Conflict, and was a member of the Episcopal Church at Foreman. He enjoyed horses, team roping, fishing, and hunting.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Deene Mills of Horatio, Ark.; one son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Frankie Mills of Horatio; two grandchildren, Tyler Mills of Anchorage, Alaska, and Justin Mills of Phoenix, Arizona; two step-grandchildren, Zachry Jackson of Horatio, and Casey Jaskson of Creede, Colorado; and two great-grandchildren, Ethan Mills and Audrey Mills, both of Anchorage, Alaska.

Funeral services for Mr. Tom L. Mills were held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 18, 2005 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Father Norman Amps officiating.

The family received friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 17, 2005 at the Chandler Funeral Home.

Alexius Jane Williams

Alexius Jane Williams, infant daughter of Robert D. Jr. and Amanda J. Brown, residents of De Queen, died Wednesday, May 11, 2005 in De Queen Medical Center.

She was born Nov. 23, 2004 in De Queen.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Sarah Jane Stover; and her paternal grandfather, Robert D. Brown Sr.

Besides her parents, she is survived by one brother, Bryson Lee Nix of De Queen; her maternal grandfather, Hoyt Williams of Dyer; her maternal step-grandfather, Roy Stover of De Queen; her maternal great-grandmother, Mary Slater of McAlister, Okla.; her maternal step-great-grandmother, Margie Stover of De Queen; and her paternal grandmother, Bernardine M. Brown of De Queen.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 17 in Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Dennis Pruitt officiating. Burial followed in Chapel Hill cemetery.

Viewing was Monday, May 16 at the funeral home.

Terry Scott Reves

Terry Scott Reves, died Wednesday, May 11, 2005 in a Houston area hospital from lung complications.

He was born in 1942; and was a graduate from De Queen High School and Henderson State in Arkadelphia.

He is survived by two sons, Tracy Reves of Dallas, Tex., and Grant Reves of Kansas City, Mo.; one grandchild; and one brother, Rev. Lynn Reves of Canton, Tex.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 14 at Redmen cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home, De Queen.

Betty Sue Tarno Elrod

Betty Sue Tarno Elrod, age 69, resident of Vernon, Tex., died Thursday, Oct. 20, 2005 at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24 at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel in Vernon with Jay Hanley officiating. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25 at Avon cemetery in De Queen with James McRae officiating.

She was born June 20, 1936 in De Queen to Milton L. and Patty Clara Melton Tarno; was a private caregiver; and a member of Wilbarger Street Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents; three husbands, Russell Goodrum, Forest Moody and Billy Elrod; one brother and three sisters.

She is survived by one son, Jerry Russell Goodrom of Vernon, Tex.; one daughter, Donna Sue Aaron of Vernon, Tex.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three sisters.

Visitation will be Sunday, Oct. 23 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Foundation.

Kenneth Ernest “Sonny” Britt

Kenneth Ernest “Sonny” Britt, age 49, resident of Dierks, died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2005 in Howard Memorial Hospital in Nashville.

He was born Nov. 28, 1935 in Dierks to Elmer Lafette and Hazel Smith Britt; and was a retired cab driver.

He is survived by three daughters, Martha Mayberry, Marla Babson and Jessie Dye; one son, Kenneth Allan Britt; one brother, Hershel Britt; two sisters, Tommie Mounts and Peggy Moore; 18 grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4 in Wilkerson Funeral Home in the Dierks Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Jester officiating. Burial will follow in Dierks cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3 at the Dierks Chapel.

Sanford L. Hooker, Sr.

Sanford L. Hooker Sr., age 80, resident of De Queen, died Monday, Oct. 17, 2005 in De Queen Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 15, 1925 at Amity to Thomas Julian and Ida Wilson Hooker; was a U.S. Army First Calvary veteran of World War II; a heavy equipment operator; a cattle and poultry rancher; and a member of Memorial Missionary Baptist Church and Sweet Home Masonic Lodge, where he served as Past Master. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Jean Blevins.

He is survived by his wife of over 57 years, Juanita Horne Hooker of De Queen; one son, Sanford "Sandy" Hooker Jr. of Wellston, Okla.; one daughter, Anita Gaunt of Dansville, Mich.; one brother, Wilson Hooker of Pecos, Tex.; one sister, Ima Kelly of Hope; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 20 in Mt. Ida cemetery with Rev. Joe Carlton officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home.

The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Georgia Dodson Rogers

Mrs. Georgia Dodson Rogers, age 85, resident of Richmond, Ind., and formerly of Little River County, died Thursday, Nov. 24, 2005 in Reid Memorial Hospital at Richmond.

She was born July 11, 1920 in Angelina County, Tex., to George Newton and Mary E. Strawn Dodson; was a retired hospital employee; and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Clyde Rogers.

She is survived by three daughters, Doris Clayton of Connersville, Ind., Paralee Rogers of Albuquerque, NM, and Sue Ann Payne of Ft. Worth, Tex.; two brothers, Troy Dodson and Floy Dodson, both of Los Lumas, NM; three sisters, Bonnie Crow of Lockesburg, Geraldine Allen of Wichita, Kan., and Ida Mae Lackey of White House, Tex.; and a number of grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Nov. 30 in Pauley cemetery under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

The family will be at the home of her brother-in-law, Paul Rogers, of Winthrop.
