Oliver Grant
Mr. Oliver Douglas Grant, age 49, resident of Lockesburg, Arkansas passed from this life Saturday evening, November 27, 2021, near Lockesburg, Arkansas.

Oliver was born March 23, 1972, to Odis Handy and Mary Edward Grant in Shreveport, Louisiana. He was a “Jack of All Trades” and worked as a Handyman. Oliver was a Christian and attended church at Lewis Temple Church of God and the Faith and Deliverance Center in De Queen. He enjoyed fishing, riding 4-wheelers, and playing basketball. More than anything, he cherished the time spent with his family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Grant; father, Odis Handy; two brothers, Talbert Grant and Gerard Thomas; and a sister, Lauretta Jenkins.

Oliver leaves to cherish his memory, his fiancé, Maria Deleon of Lockesburg; seven sons, D’Mychael Thomas of Mansfield, Louisiana, Darius Clay Grant of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Odis Cruiz Grant of De Queen, Oliver Jerimiah Grant of De Queen, Devion Douglas Grant of Lockesburg, Micah Dau and wife Mia of Wickes, and Michael Grant of Shreveport, Louisiana; six grandchildren; three brothers, Kevin Grant and Latrea of Idabel, Bishop Patrick Grant and Sherrie of De Queen, and Odis Grant and Paula of De Queen; aunt, Betty Edwards of De Queen; special cousin, Maria Nelson of Horatio; special friend, Tammy Guinn of De Queen; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral Services for Mr. Oliver Grant will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, December 4, 2021, in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Reid officiating. Burial will follow at Redmen Cemetery in De Queen. Family and friends are welcome to the funeral home from 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., Friday, for viewing. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Chandler Funeral Home of De Queen.

Dean Richard Abrams
Dean Richard Abrams resident of McLoud, OK formerly of De Queen, was born to Thomas Lee and Roberta Ann Abrams on September 4, 1954 at Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington D.C. and passed away on November 24, 2021 in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 67.

Dean had a Chemistry degree from University of Washington in Seattle, WA. He was a member of Kern Heights Baptist Church in De Queen, AR and retired from Weyerhaeuser Company – having worked at the Craig Plant, Grayling Structure Wood Mill, Valliant Paper Mill and Tacoma Lab and Corrugated Services in Forney, TX as a process engineer. He enjoyed rebuilding engines, a little wood working, sci-fi movies, reading and all-around tinkering.

He was preceded in death by his parent, Tom and Roberta; brother-in-law Gregory Campbell; father-in-law Harold F. Young.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years Sherry Abrams, children Samuel and Megan Abrams, McLoud; Benjamin and Kimberly Abrams, Bixby; three of the cutest little grandsons, Lincoln, Deacan and Killian. His sister Ann Campbell of Richland, WA and her children, John Campbell, Neil Campbell, Maribeth and Hans Van Rooyen. In-laws Merle and Eldon Miller; Sam and Linda Young and their children Clint and Lauren Young, Brent and Lacey Young; Curtis Young and his daughter Caylee Young. A number of great nieces, nephews, cousins and his friends.

Cremation is under the direction of Brown’s Family Funeral Home McLoud, OK. A private service will be held at a later date.

Sam Kelley
Raymond Sammy Lee (Dunn) Kelley passed away from natural causes in his home on November 27, 2021. He was born in Avery, Texas, on December 2, 1933, the son of Durden Dunn and Verma Kelley. He migrated to Oregon as a teenager where he met and married Mary Brown in 1951, and they had four children. He frequently visited De Queen, Arkansas from the early 1980s and relocated there permanently in 1998, where he lived near his father and worked building ten houses on Dunn Hill.

He is survived by the mother of his children, Mary Kelley; his children, Kim Kelley, Sandra Espinoza, Rose Mary Miller, and Valena (Beno) Warden; his adopted son, Bo Dara; his siblings, Charlene, Pat, Charlotte, Glenda, Howard, and Johnny Ward, and Rick Dunn; seventeen grandchildren; and twenty-two great grandchildren.

At the request of Mr. Sam Kelley, services will not be scheduled. Arrangements are entrusted to Chandler Funeral Home of De Queen.

Wannette “Pete” Hendricks
Mrs. Wannette Simpson Hendricks, affectionately known as “Pete”, departed this life on Sunday, November 21, 2021, in Yukon, Oklahoma, at the age of 81.

Pete was born November 7, 1940, in Oklahoma to the union of Ben and Janie Simpson. She was a high school graduate and went on to receive her license in Licensed Practical Nursing. She married the love of her life, J.C. Hendricks, on May 30, 1958, in Horatio, Arkansas. She was a member of the Church of Christ and enjoyed reading, old country music, and attending singings at the Broken Bow Mainstreet on Friday and Saturday nights.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her loving husband, J.C. Hendricks.

Pete is survived by one sister, Wilma Pressley of Eagletown, Oklahoma; and many friends, to numerous to count.

Services for Mrs. Pete Hendricks will be conducted by Chandler Funeral Home of De Queen and will held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at West Otis Cemetery with Leon Klitz, Minister, officiating. Friends and family are welcome to the funeral home from 2:00 to 6:00 P.M., Tuesday, for viewing.

Thao “Lyn” Pham
Thao “Lyn” Pham, age 49, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2021 at her home.

She was born August 7, 1972 in Vietnam. Lyn was the owner of US Nails in De Queen. She enjoyed visiting with all of her customers at the nail shop, enjoyed singing and listening to music and loved the outdoors.

Lyn was preceded in death by her father, Ha Nguyen.

She is survived by her husband, Quan Pham; one daughter, Jackie Pham ; one son, Timothy Pham, all of De Queen; mother, Gima N Hart; two brothers, Khanh Hart Nguyen, and Jack Hart Nguyen

Funeral Mass for Lyn will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday November 29, 2021 in the St. Barbara Catholic Church with Father Ramses Mendieta officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen. Cremation will follow.

Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday November 28, 2021 at the funeral home.

Darrell Wayne Hall
Mr. Darrell Wayne Hall, age 54, a resident of Lockesburg, Arkansas died peacefully at his home after a long illness on Sunday, November 21, 2021.

He was born April 30, 1967 in San Antonio, Texas. Darrell enjoyed hunting, being in the woods and spending time with his family. He was a Christian.

Mr. Hall was preceded in death by his father, Junior David Hall; his step-father, Frank Bishop Jester; his sister, Donna Hall Pollard and two brothers-in-law, Dennis Keith Erving and Larry Dean Johnson.

He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Andrea Hall of Ohio; his mother, Ruby Hall Jester; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Chery and Buzz Corey of Bells, Texas and Jean Hall of Lockesburg; three brothers and a sister-in-law, David Hall of Lockesburg, Danny Hall of Dierks and Johnny and Kathy Hall of New Tazwell, Tennessee; his brother-in-law, Tony Pollard of Lockesburg; two grandsons, Kaius and Lucius Hall; a special friend, Tanya Conatser and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 23, 2021 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in De Queen, Arkansas.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements by Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Brenda Ann Jones
Ms. Brenda Ann Volentine Jones, age 74, resident of De Queen, Arkansas, peacefully passed from this life on Sunday, November 21, 2021, in Nashville, Arkansas.

Brenda was born to the union of Horace J. and Cloyes Mildred Honea Volentine on May 11, 1947, in Hope, Arkansas. She was a high school graduate and went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in Registered Nursing. She was a member of First Baptist Church in De Queen, and enjoyed reading, crafting, traveling, spending time on her computer, and essential oils. Most of all, Brenda cherished the time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Clay Alan Witherspoon; grandson, Corey Gants; and her brother, David Michael Volentine.

Brenda leaves to cherish her loving memory, two daughters and sons-in-law, Yvonne (Michael) Gants of East Ridge, Tennessee, and Kristel (Jody) Williams of De Queen; nine grandchildren, Alarick Lewis of East Ridge, Davin Lewis of Great Bend, Tyler Gants of East Ridge, Alana Gants of East Ridge, Chealsie (Benjamin) McColley of Hope, Kennedy Williams of De Queen, Dacoda Witherspoon of Durant, Trenton Witherspoon of Broken Bow, and Sarinda Witherspoon of Broken Bow; four great-grandchildren, Timothy McColley, Lucas McColley, Randall McColley, and Astrid Lewis; as well as other relatives and a host of friends.

At the request of Ms. Brenda Jones, services will not be scheduled. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Chandler Funeral Home of De Queen.
