Isaac Jim Jackson
Isaac Jim Jackson, age 70, a resident of Horatio, Arkansas died Friday,
September 4, 2020, at his home.

He was born November 26, 1949, in De Queen, Arkansas. He was a USDA Inspector, Christian, and U.S. Army Veteran having served in Vietnam.

Mr. Jackson, was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac and Ruth Jackson and two sisters, Relda Shrouder and Sue Fitzhugh.

He is survived by one brother, Richard Jackson of Horatio; one sister, Vinita Sanders of Texarkana, Arkansas; and special friends, Denielle, Carmen, Alex, and Kal’El Contreras.

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Jackson, will be held at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, September 5, 2020, at Horatio Cemetery with John Gutierres officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

The family requests that everyone wear a face mask and practice social distancing for safety.

Erma Evelyn Shelton
Erma Evelyn Barnett Shelton, age 92, a resident of Nashville, Arkansas died Wednesday, September 2, 2020, at her home.

She was born June 3, 1928, in Dierks, Arkansas. Mrs. Shelton was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Shelton was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Margaret Fern Cunningham Barnett; her husband, Haskell Shelton; and a number of brothers and sisters.

She is survived by two daughters, Trish Bullard of Nashville and Anita Shelton of North Little Rock, Arkansas; two sons, Larry Shelton of Nashville and David Shelton of Saratoga, Arkansas; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A memorial service for Mrs. Shelton will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements by Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

Velmaree Harberson
Velmaree Harberson, age 85, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas died Tuesday, September 1, 2020, in Dierks.

She was born December 22, 1934, in Dierks. She was a member of the Methodist Church of Dierks, Arkansas.

Ms. Harberson was preceded in death by her parents, Dewitt and Lena Young Harberson; one sister, Zelmaree Killian; two brothers, Roy Harberson and Floy Harberson, and one niece, Cathy Chastain.

She is survived by two nephews, Howard and Melba Killian of Texarkana, and Dennis and Nancy Harberson of Ruston, Louisiana; three great nephews, Steve Killian, Chris Chastain and Kyle Chastain; and two great nieces, Stephanie Francis and Lindsey Billberry.

Graveside funeral services for Ms. Harberson, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 5, 2020, at the Restland Memorial Park, in Nashville, Arkansas with Larry Eason officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

The family requests that everyone wear a face mask and practice social distancing for safety.

Lowell Ray Runnels
Lowell Ray Runnels, age 81, a resident of Lockesburg, Arkansas died August 30, 2020, at his home.

He was born May 14, 1939 in Provo, Arkansas. Mr. Runnels was retired from Weyerhaeuser, a Baptist, and a United States Army Veteran. He enjoyed walking his dogs Tuffy and Peaches, good puzzle books, talking with people, camping and fishing.

Mr. Runnels was preceded in death by his parents, Charley and Agnes Shaw Runnels; step father, Carrol Nix; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Charlene and Bobby Friend and Faye and Harold Brewer.

He is survived by his wife Lavern McIntyre Runnels, three daughters and two sons-in-law, Karen and Stanley Topor, Paula and Brian Martz and Brenda Dixon all of De Queen, Arkansas; step children and their spouses, Travis and Stephanie Liggin of Blevins, Arkansas, Debbie and Robert Gray of Lockesburg, Becky and Tony Clark of Nathan, Arkansas and Jeannie and Randy Miller of Fouke, Arkansas; one sister and brother-in-law Martie and Bennie Griffin of De Queen; one brother and sister-in-law, Dean and Ann Runnels of Lockesburg; grandchildren and their spouses, Brandon and Hannah Topor of Nashville, Arkansas; Brittany and Kyle Wasson of Foreman, Arkansas; Derek Dixon of De Queen, Kayla and Anthony Mooneyham of Athens, Arkansas; Meagan Martz of De Queen, and Aaron Martz of Okemah Oklahoma; a host of other grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Runnels will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 2, 2020, at Old Union Cemetery with Bro. Jason Carlton officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

General viewing will be held from 4:00–8:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 1st at the funeral home.

Calvin Hern
Mr. Calvin Henry Hern, age 91, a resident of De Queen, died Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at his home.

He was born to Joe and Illa Christena Snyder Hern in Lima, Oklahoma on January 23, 1929. Calvin was a truck driver all his adult life and was proud of the fact he drove over 6,000,000 miles without a single accident and received numerous safety awards. Calvin drove for several Trucking Firms and later he owned and operated Hern Trucking, Inc. He loved his Lord and was a member of the Kern Heights Baptist Church. He enjoyed camping and fishing, and took pride in his yard, but most of all, he cherished his family and friends.

Calvin was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Pearlie Mae Ford Hern; a grandson, Jason Candelaria; a great-grandson, Lukus Shane Candelaria; his siblings, Freeman Higgins, Russell Higgins, Bobby Higgins, Jean Smith, and Gladys Tabor.

He is survived by his daughter, Linda Candelaria of De Queen; a son and daughter-in-law,
Billy Ray and Janie Sue Hern of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; a brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Linda Higgins of De Queen; a sister, Belva Nipper of Lockesburg; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a number of nieces, nephews, other family members and his special companion, Patsy Counts of Hot Springs.

Graveside Memorial Services for Mr. Calvin Hern will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, September 3, 2020 at Redmen Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

Philip Glen Van Voast
Philip Glen Van Voast, age 90, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas died Friday, August 28, 2020, in Ashdown, Arkansas.

He was born September 11,1929, in Wichita, Kansas to Evert and Yula Longstreet Van Voast. Mr. Van Voast was a member of Geneva Missionary Baptist Church and was retired from Pilgrim’s Pride with 31 years of service. He served on the Farm Bureau Insurance Board for 61 years, Sevier County Fair Board for 57 years and was a 4-H Leader for 38 years.

Mr. Van Voast was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Melba Van Voast, and two brothers Luther and Richard Van Voast.

He is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Phyllis and Marvin Barrington, Jimmie Ann Shelton, and Nelda and Louie Kyger; two sons and a daughter-in-law, William Van Voast and David and Anna Fenton , three sisters Viola Jones, Freda Pedron, and Margaret Gonzalez; a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great- grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Van Voast, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 31, 2020, at Chapel Hill Cemetery with Brother Travis Lane officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

General viewing will be held Sunday August 30, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home in De Queen.

Marci Lee Matheny Null
Mrs. Marci Lee Matheny Null, age 41, resident of Dierks, Arkansas, passed from this life on Thursday, August 27, 2020, at CHI St. Vincent, Little Rock, Arkansas.
She was born on August 28, 1978, in De Queen, Arkansas. She was a graduate of De Queen High School in 1997 and attended Freewill Baptist Church of New Hope, Arkansas. Marci married the love of her life, Leonard Null, on February 15, 2015. She enjoyed going to the races, fishing, and spending time with friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Kim Matheny; her brother, Marc Matheny; and her grandma, Maxine Whitley.

Marci leaves to cherish her memory, her husband; step-children, Brandon and Kimberly Null of Glenwood, Arkansas, Warren and Kristen Null of Amity, Arkansas, Justin and Kandyce McAnelly of Murfreesboro, Arkansas, and Anna Sevier of Nashville, Arkansas; one uncle, Jay Whitley of Marrero, Louisiana; three aunts, Sheri and Melvin Mills of De Queen, Arkansas, June and Jerry Pinson of Dierks, Arkansas, and Stacy Rasmussen of De Queen, Arkansas; eleven grandchildren; special friends, Billy and Frankie Stamps of Dierks, Arkansas; as well as, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Graveside Memorial Services for Mrs. Marci Null will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, September 5, 2020, at Mt. Ida Cemetery, De Queen, with Bro. Kenny Fant officiating. Cremation Arrangements are under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.
