Evelyn was born to Tennyson Andrew and Frances Louise Madewell Haury on December 20, 1968 in Chickasha, Oklahoma. She loved children and the elderly, working many years as a CNA. She took her profession very serious. Her motto was “The children of today are the elderly of tomorrow.” When working in nursing homes, she would always make her patients her first priority. At a young age, her brother, John, told her that she had a way with the elderly. She always believed this was a reason she made her career in eldercare. Evelyn was very unique in her own way. Either you liked her, or you did not, she did not really care. She was a lovable person, but if you gave her a reason not to like you, she did not forget it. She made many friends in her years as a CNA, but you cannot be friends with everyone. She always stood her ground and could not be intimidated. She was a very loving person. Evelyn would say, “I’ve got enough Indian blood in me to make me a warrior, but have my mother’s heart that makes me very loving.” Evelyn attended church at Victory Life Church in Broken Bow and enjoyed crocheting, scrapbooking, listening to music and was a Chicago Bulls fan, more than anything, she cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren.
