Ronald David Lofton
Mr. Ronald David Lofton, age 69, a resident of De Queen, transitioned from this life on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at his home.

He was born December 28, 1950 in De Queen. He was a retired lumber supervisor for Weyerhaeuser and a member of the First United Methodist Church of De Queen. He loved hunting, fishing, woodworking, and working in his yard. He adored his grandchildren and loved their musical performances and watching them play sports.

Mr. Lofton was preceded in death by his parents, O.L. Lofton, Jr. and Betty Jo (Davis) Lofton.

He is survived by his wife, Marsha Lofton; one son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Jason and Cindy Lofton of De Queen; one daughter and son-in-law, Lindsey and Patrick Kelley of Springdale, Arkansas; his grandchildren, Parker, Griffin, and Carson Kelley; Oaklee, Olivia, Silas and Hannah Grace Lofton; one sister and brother-in-law, Kay and Roger Holley of Atoka, Oklahoma; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral service for Mr. Ronnie Lofton will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 11, 2020 in the Chapel Hill Cemetery with Steve Copley and Chad Gallagher officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

General viewing will be 4-7 p.m. Monday, August 10th at the funeral home.

William D. Sherman
William D. Sherman, age 89, passed from this life Thursday, August 6, 2020, in Irving, Texas.

Mr. Sherman was born August, 29, 1930, in Big Fork, Arkansas to Paul and Dora Faulkner Sherman. William married Joyce Houser Sherman. They lived in Provo, Arkansas and raised five children. Will retired from Weyerhaeuser in Dierks.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Dora Faulkner Sherman; one daughter, Anita Sherman Hargrove; one granddaughter, Jamie Green; and his brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy Sherman of Irving, Texas; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jerry and Gail Sherman of Texarkana, Arkansas and Ronnie Sherman of Lockesburg, Arkansas; two daughters and three sons-in-law, Elaine and Glen Owens of Nashville, Arkansas, Glenna and Larry Dunaway of Nashville, and Larry Hargrove of De Queen, Arkansas; two step daughters, Sharon and Bobby Enberg of Irving, and Laverne and Mike Richards of Decatur, Texas; 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Sherman will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 10, 2020, at Mc Horse Cemetery with Bro. Wesley Blankenship officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

A general viewing will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m., Sunday, August 9th at the funeral home in De Queen.

Charlotte Ann Martin
Ms. Charlotte Ann Leeper Martin, age 72, resident of De Queen, Arkansas, passed from this life on Thursday, August 6, 2020, at CHI St. Vincent in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

She was the oldest of six children born to Darrell Fayne Leeper, Sr. and Vada Olive Rogers Leeper on October 6, 1947 in Wenatchee, Washington. She was a 1965 graduate of De Queen High School and received her Bachelor Degree from Oakland University. Charlotte worked 26 years as an Engineer for General Motors. After retirement from GM, Charlotte spent 11 years working at Walmart in De Queen. She will be remembered for her kind words, soft tone and precious smile offered to each customer who passed through the doors. She also owned and operated Proven Image Company in De Queen, where she shared her love for photography and framing. Charlotte attended First Baptist Church in De Queen and had an unmatched fondness for salmon fishing.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Dana Lynn Leeper and Shanda Marie Diehle; and one brother, Darrell “Chip” Leeper.

Charlotte leaves to cherish her loving memory, one brother, Joel Ed Leeper and his wife Celia of Grand Blanc, Michigan; one sister, Kelly Schell of De Queen; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as, other relatives and many friends throughout the community.

Private memorial services for Ms. Charlotte Martin will be held at a later date. Cremation Arrangements are under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

Mrs. Wanda Haarmeyer
Mrs. Wanda Lee Watkins Haarmeyer, age 91, resident of Gillham, Arkansas, passed from this life on Friday, August 7, 2020, in the Wadley Regional Health System, Texarkana, Texas.

She was fifth of eleven children born to Aaron Monroe and Cynthia Myrtle Guthrie Watkins on April 5, 1929 in Andrews, Texas. She married the love of her life, Herbert Arthur Haarmeyer, on January 28, 1945 in Andrews. Together, she and Herb, faithfully served as foster parents for than 30 years. During this time, they loved and cared for more than 100 children. Wanda kept the home and was a member of De Queen First Assembly of God. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, quilting, playing cards and dominoes, painting and the casino, but more than anything, she cherished the time spent with her loving family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of more than 48 years, Herb Haarmeyer; six brothers, Ray, Charles, Allen, Bill, Orval and James Watkins; three sisters, Dorris Serratt, Loraine Hitch and Geneva Watkins; and one son-in-law, Dude Mitchell.

She leaves to cherish her memory, four sons and daughters-in-law, Jerral and Lynda Haarmeyer of Gillham, Arkansas, David and Brenda Haarmeyer of Hughes Springs, Texas, Herbie and Kathy Haarmeyer of Gillham, Arkansas, and Jason Haarmeyer of Oklahoma; two daughters, Cindy Riley of Gillham, Arkansas and Kimberly and Michael Thompkins of Mena, Arkansas; 18 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Sue Thornhill of Sherman, Texas; three sisters-in-law, Carol Watkins of Gillham, Arkansas, Betty Watkins of Roanoke, Virginia, and Diane Watkins of Carlsbad, New Mexico; as well as, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Wanda Haarmeyer will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, August 11, 2020, at the Gillham Cemetery, with Bros. Shane Haarmeyer and David Haarmeyer, Jr., officiating. Burial will follow, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. General viewing will be held Monday, at the funeral home.

David Sherry
Mr. David Leonard Sherry was born in Vivian, Louisiana on May 2, 1948 to the late John D. Sherry and Louise Collins Sherry. David passed from this life on August 4, 2020, at home with family by his side.

David was an Army Veteran having served in Vietnam. He worked most of his life as a section foreman for KCS Railroad. He loved fishing, hunting and most of all, spending time with his grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Patti S. Sherry; and one brother, John D. Sherry.

David is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Delores Sherry of De Queen; one son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Christina Sherry of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; oldest grandson, Noah and wife Audrey Sherry of Fayetteville, Arkansas and youngest grandson, Nikolas Sherry of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; one sister, Pat Harrison of Bakersfield, California; special loved ones, Shawna and Gina Albritton; as well as, nieces and nephews.

Private Military Services will be held in Vivian, Louisiana, with burial following at Chapelwood Memorial Gardens in Vivian. Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to Vietnam Veterans of America, in honor of David.

Rev. Calvin Harold Brewer
Rev. Calvin Harold Brewer, age 95, left his earthly home and was welcomed into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 3, 2020.

He was born in Gillham, AR in 1924, where he lived until joining the U.S. Army for 3 years of service during World War II. Thereafter, he attended East Texas Baptist University and Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in preparation for ministry in the Southern Baptist denomination.

Rev. Brewer’s passion in life was faithful service for Jesus Christ. He pastored churches in Mixon, TX, Blossom, TX and Lawrence, KS, before returning to Arkansas for pastorates in Hatfield, Warren, Ashdown, and Beebe. He completed his ministerial career at Kern Heights Baptist Church in De Queen.

He was a man of great integrity, who sought not only to teach the principles found in the Bible, but to faithfully live accordingly. He loved his extended family and the members of the congregations which he served deeply.

Rev. Brewer was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Bernice Watkins Brewer, and his later wife of 20 years, Faye Runnels Mobbs Brewer; parents Charles and Ida Brewer; sister Mattie Churchwell; and bothers Arvil, Edward, Edgar, and Alvin Brewer.

He is survived by his daughter, Beverly Stieben, and son, Dwight Brewer and wife Debbie, all of Houston, TX; sisters Marie Kelly, Ruth Jackson, and Vera Johnson; brother Donald Brewer; step-daughters Gerry Robison and Teresa Evans; step-son Jeff Mobbs and wife Edie; 8 grandchildren; and 10 step-grandchildren.

Burial is at Valley Cemetery, near Gilliam, AR, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen, Arkansas.
