Aikman Kendrick
Mr. Aikman Kendrick, age 86 a resident of Cerro Gordo, died Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at his home.

He was born July 19, 1933 in Cerro Gordo, Arkansas. He served 29 years in the U.S. Army and 14 years in Civil Service. Mr. Kendrick was a rancher, he attended State Line Baptist Church and loved family gatherings.

Mr. Kendrick was preceded in death by his parents, E.E. and Allie (Aikman) Kendrick; five brothers, Gene Lee Kendrick, Billy Kendrick, Gilbert Marshall Kendrick, Harold Kendrick and Tony Wayne Kendrick.

He is survived by his wife, Nona Ruth (Irvan) Kendrick; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Tammy and Tony Goins of Horatio, Arkansas, Cindy and Marc Suffridge of Queen City, Texas and Rhonda Kendrick of Cumby, Texas; five grandchildren, Dustin Goins, Josh McCullough, Kelly Goins, Jason McCullough and Sarah Suffridge; five great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Kendrick will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 18, 2020 in the State Line Baptist Church with Ray Brown and Eddie Higgs officiating. Burial will follow in Cerro Gordo cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

General viewing will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, July 17th at the funeral home.

The family request that everyone remain safe and please, if possible, wear a face mask and practice social distancing for safety.

Betty “Sissy” Renee Burgess
Betty “Sissy” Renee Burgess, age 51, a resident of Umpire, Arkansas, died Friday, July 10, 2020 at her home.

She was born June 7, 1969 in Nashville, Arkansas. She was a farmer and member of Bissell Chapel Community Church. Sissy loved being a grandma, spending times with family and friends, loved all things Betty Boop and her dog Toto.

Sissy was preceded in death by her parents, Horace Marvin and Patsy Irene Douglas Burgess and one sister, Deanna Mae Burgess.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Heather Barnes of De Queen, Arkansas; one daughter and son-in-law Bailey Lott and Colby Westbrook of Dierks, Arkansas; one granddaughter, Emery Westbrook; her fiancé John Delos Santos of Athens, Arkansas; five brothers and four sisters-in-law, Marvin and Flo Burgess of Caddo Gap, Arkansas James and Penny Burgess and Garth Burgess all of Umpire, Arkansas Nathan and Anita Burgess of Athens, Arkansas and Phillip and Penny Burgess of Dierks, Arkansas; two aunts and an uncle, Bob and Betty Lou Ewart of Athens, Arkansas and Dorothea House of Dierks, Arkansas; special cousins, Joan Isham, Lisa Allen and Barbara Chambers all of Dierks, Arkansas; special friends, Mason and Lindsey Greene of Athens, Arkansas, Rose Jackson of Dierks, Arkansas, Annette Dixon of Dierks, Arkansas and Eddie Cherry of De Queen, Arkansas and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 17, 2020 at Athens Cemetery with Bro. Donnie Vaughn and Joe Isham officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.

General viewing will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 16th at the funeral home in Dierks.

The family request that everyone remain safe and please, if possible, wear a face mask and practice social distancing for safety.

Mrs. Mary Parson
Mrs. Mary Allen Jones Parson, age 89, resident of De Queen, Arkansas, passed from this life on Friday, July 10, 2020 at the Little River Memorial Hospital, Ashdown.

Mary, affectionately known as “Chuck,” was born to Bert and Ethel Poteet Jones on March 21, 1931 in Graysonia, Arkansas. She married the love of her life, Melvin R. Parson, on September 7, 1946 in Mineral Springs, Arkansas, and to this union, five children were born. Chuck was a homemaker and member of First Methodist Church. She enjoyed attending Sunday school, church services and spending time with the Methodist Ladies Book Club. She also enjoyed playing cards with friends, gardening, canning, making jelly and baking cookies and cakes with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 61 years, Melvin R. “Pete” Parson; one son, Bobby J. Parson; two brothers, Grady Jones and Buddy Jones; and two sisters, Dimple Jones and Juanita Head.

Chuck is survived by one daughter, Judy Uzzell and her husband Melvin of Memphis, Tennessee; three sons, Ronnie Parson and his wife Kathy of Little Rock, Arkansas, Ricky Parson and his wife Donna, and Jerry Parson, all of De Queen; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; as well as, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Memorial Services for Mrs. Mary Parson will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, July 18, 2020 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

The family wishes to extend their appreciation to the staff of Little River Nursing and Rehab in Ashdown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the First United Methodist Church in De Queen.

Mrs. Eva Morris
Mrs. Eva Lenora Everett Morris, age 98, resident of Horatio, Arkansas, passed from this life on Sunday, July 12, 2020, at Bear Creek Healthcare in De Queen.

Eva was born to Seth Henkley and Lula Jane Wright Everett on June 20, 1922 in Mountain Park, Oklahoma. She married the love of her life, Leo B. (Bill) Morris, on October 28, 1939 in De Queen. Eva retired from Baldwin’s in De Queen after 14 years of service and was a Homemaker. She and Bill were members of Dilworth Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed sewing, canning, and gardening, but most of all, she cherished the time spent with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of over 57 years, Bill Morris; one son-in-law, Franklin Chandler; one grandson, David Chandler; three brothers, Vance Everett, Curtis Everett and Walter Everett; and one sister, Carmen Caldwell.

Eva leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters and a son-in-law, Jane Chandler of Horatio and Leoda and Oliver Matthews of Horatio; four grandchildren, Eugene Chandler of Lockesburg, Randy Chandler of Horatio, Guy Matthews of Texarkana and Sandra Sims of West Fork, Arkansas; eight great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren; as well as, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Graveside Services for Mrs. Eva Morris will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at Millwee Cemetery, Horatio, with John Hickel officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. General viewing will be from 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., Monday, at the funeral home.

Evelyn (Bo) Pollard Pogue
Evelyn (Bo) Pollard Pogue, age 90, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas died Saturday, July 11, 2020, in Texarkana, Texas.

She was born November 2, 1929, in Watson, Oklahoma. She was a homemaker, nurse aide, school worker, caregiver, and attended Chapel Hill Baptist Church.

Mrs. Pogue was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Ada Webb Pollard; her husband, Elisha Agnar Pogue; four brothers, Bennie Pollard, Cleadus Pollard, Haskel Pollard, and Tom Pollard; and two sisters, Mabel Smith and Josephine Richardson.

She is survived by two sons, Jimmy Wayne Pogue of De Queen and Johnny Dewayne Pogue of Texarkana, Texas; three grandsons, Perry Pogue of Palm Bay, Florida, Terry Pogue of Omaha, Nebraska, and Jerry Pogue of Texarkana, Texas; one great grandson, Chandler Pogue of Fort Smith, Arkansas; three great granddaughters, Randi Pogue of Fort Smith, Chelan Pogue of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Maggie Pogue of Palm Bay, Florida; one brother, Floyd Pollard of Smithville, Oklahoma; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Pogue will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 14, 2020, at Denison Cemetery in Idabel, Oklahoma with Keith Rose officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

The family would like to thank Little River Nursing and Rehab, St. Michael’s Home Health, and Hospice of Texarkana.

Mildred Pauline Daniel Conatser
Mildred Pauline Daniel Conatser, age 93, a resident of Horatio, Arkansas died Friday, July 10, 2020, in Texarkana, Texas.

She was born to Lando Prince and Bertha Maude Linheart Daniel on February 5, 1927, in Horatio. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening and fishing.

Mrs. Conatser was preceded in death by two sons, George C. Williamson and Kenny Zachry.

She is survived by one son, Lando Williamson of Horatio; two daughters, Harriett Piper of Broken Bow, Oklahoma and Millie McCain of McCaskill, Arkansas; one sister, Virginia Cooper of Shinewell, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Conatser will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 14, 2020, at Clear Creek Cemetery with James McCain officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

A general viewing will be held from 4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m., Monday, July 13th at the funeral home.

Mrs. Katie Pannell
Mrs. Katie Beth Staggs Pannell, age 75, resident of Millerton, Oklahoma, passed from this life on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at Medical City, Plano, Texas.

She was born to Henry Clay and Thelma Eula Page Staggs on September 16, 1944 near Lockesburg, Arkansas. She was a homemaker, and enjoyed board games, traveling, and going to the casinos, but most of all, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of over 51 years, Richard Eugene Pannell of Millerton, Oklahoma, a son and daughter-in-law, Richard Eugene Pannell, Jr, and his wife, Lynn of Cove, Arkansas, a step-daughter, Tammie Dawn Pannell of Fort Worth, Texas, three grandchildren, Shane Pannell, Chance Nichols, and Carlie Pannell, a brother and sister-in-law, John Henry and Linda Staggs of New Hope, Arkansas, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Zella Faye and Donald Barnes of De Queen, and Clara and Olen Frady of Glenwood, Arkansas, and a number of nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Katie Pannell will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 11th in the Old Piney Cemetery, De Queen, Arkansas with Bro. John Henry Williams officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home of De Queen.
