Opal Maxine Hair Kidder
Mrs. Opal Maxine Hair Kidder, age 97, a resident of Ashdown, Arkansas died Saturday, May 25, 2019, in Texarkana, Texas.

She was born March 24, 1922 in Iowa. She was a sales clerk.

Mrs. Kidder was preceded in death by her parents, Nickles and Gladys Hair; husbands, Joseph Miller and Guy Arthur Kidder; three sons, David J. Miller, Lee Gale Miller and Charles Kidder; two brothers, Carl Hair and Frank Hair.

She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Margaret and Bob Johnson of Phoenix, Arizona and Barbara Summerhill of Lockesburg, Arkansas; one daughter-in-law, Twila Miller of California; two special nieces, Diana Rowden and Letha Brewer; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Kidder will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 1, 2019 in the Ben Lomond Cemetery with Bro. Larry Fry officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Texarkana, 2407 Galleria Oaks, Texarkana, Texas 75503.

Marlin Ryan Allen
Marlin Ryan Allen, age 28, a resident of Provo, Arkansas died Monday, May 20, 2019, in Panama City Beach, Florida.

He was born February 15, 1991, in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He was a loader operator for Leon Scott Logging, LLC and attended the Old Time Gospel Church.

He is survived by his wife, Tara Helms Allen; two sons, Marlin Gauge Allen and Tytus Stihl Allen; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Kimber and Justin Reed of Ashdown, Arkansas and Paige Allen of Saratoga, Arkansas; one brother, Alex Allen of Ashdown; raised by his grandparents, Marlin Allen, Jr. and Carolyn Allen of Dierks, Arkansas; his parents, Marlin DeWayne Allen and Cathy Couch Wolfe; his grandmother, Joyce Fugitt of Murfreesboro, Arkansas; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Kem and Anita Helms of Provo, Arkansas; two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Janay and Clint Bailey and Kayle Helms; three nephews, Caydin Rian Reed, Sawyer Cane Reed, Kyce Russell; two nieces, Kyah and Avanna Bailey; and a number of aunts, uncles, great aunts and uncles, and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services for Ryan will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 27, 2019, at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in De Queen, Arkansas with Jerrel Helms officiating. Burial will follow in Green’s Chapel Cemetery.

Family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday, May 28th at the funeral home in Dierks, Arkansas.

Mrs. Winnona Brewer
Mrs. Winnona Ruth McCauley Davis Brewer of Wickes went to her heavenly home on May 19, 2019. She was born to Henry and Pearl McCauley in Umpire, Howard County, on February 17, 1926. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Royle C. Davis and Garry Brewer and granddaughter Amber Davis Morris.

Winnona, Nona, was an avid basketball fan enthusiastically supporting her children and grandchildren as well as participating in the sport in her high school days. After graduation from Wickes School she left the farm and log cabin and attended a Western Union School in Springfield, Missouri. Later she was transferred to Washington, DC where she finished her business training and was employed by the Civil Service as a secretary. She was there at the end of WWII. Upon the return to Arkansas she then attended Henderson State Teachers College where she earned a BSE in English Speech and Drama. She attended Drake University in Iowa and completed a Master’s Degree in English from HSTC in 1966.

Winnona began her teaching career in Umpire in 1955. She continued her career in Grannis, Grand Junction, Iowa, Hatfield, Horatio and retired from DeQueen High in 1992. During her 37 years of contributing to education she also was adjunct instructor in English Composition and Speech for then Rich Mountain Community College and Cossatot Community College. She was always interested in reading, which the love of books led her to heading many libraries in her career.

Her love of life and work and service to others allowed her to work for the US Army Corps of Engineers, Tri Lakes, from 1977 – 2012. She was greatly admired and loved by so many and will be dearly missed.

She is survived by Randal Davis (Sherry Lynn) of Wickes, Larry Davis (Sherry), Hot Springs, and LaJuana Mooney (Michael), Hot Springs. Grandchildren, Andi Davis, Wickes, Mikka Mooney, Broken Arrow, OK, Matthew Davis, Alameda, CA and five great grandchildren.

Her family extends their appreciation to her caregivers in her home and in Hot Springs. Pallbearers are Preston Sirmon, Victor Kuykendall, James Pickett, Mike Richardson, Alan Smith and Scott Corbitt.

Visitation is Wednesday, 4:00 – 6:00 pm, May 22, Chandler Funeral Home, DeQueen. Services, 2:00 pm, Thursday, Wickes Pentecostal Church of God with Bro Chris Burke officiating. Interment at Daniel Cemetery, Wickes.

Mr. Bryce Harmon
Mr. Bryce Lenard Harmon, age 74, a resident of the Little River Country Club, passed from this life on Saturday, May 18, 2019 in Texarkana, Texas.

He was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, on March 17, 1945, the oldest son of the late Edward Lenard and Marguerite Catherine Finn Harmon. He was retired from Weyerhaeuser Company, where he worked in management at the Dierks Mill. He married the love of his life, Marybeth Cloud on April 30, 1965 in Malvern, Arkansas. He was a member of the Church of Christ and enjoyed hunting, fishing, dominos, golf, riding the golf cart around the course with his beloved golden retriever, “Roscoe,” and travel far and wide to watch his grandchildren play ball and golf. He coached little league baseball on the Treating Plant Team, when his son played, coached Lions Baseball Team with his grandsons, as well as the Sandlot Traveling Baseball Team.

Bryce was preceded in death by his parents, and his best friend, Roscoe.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 54 years, Marybeth Cloud Harmon of the Little River Club; a daughter, Hollye Watkins of Prosper, Texas; a son and daughter-in-law,Brett and Heather Harmon of Nashville, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Brennan and his wife, Kayla Watkins of Horatio, Braxton Watkins of the Little River Club, Addy Harmon and Rayleigh Harmon both of Nashville, Arkansas; a great-grandchild, Brenley Watkins of Horatio; one brother, and sister-in-law, Bryan and Sherry Harmon of Malvern, Arkansas; a niece, Megan Dill and her husband, Andrew of Pinetop, Arizona; as well as other family members and a host of friends.

Funeral Services for Mr. Bryce Harmon will be held at 3:00 P.M., Monday, May 20, 2019 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Bobby Tatum, Minister officiating. Burial will follow in the Redmen Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home. Visitation will be at Chandler Funeral Home on Sunday, May 19, 2019 from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M.

Mrs. Linda Emerson
Linda K. (Vickers) Emerson passed away May 17, 2019 at the age of 73. She was surrounded by people who loved her and prayed for by people who couldn’t be there. She joins the love of her life, James R. Emerson Jr., her son, James Emerson III, her parents, George and Bassie Vickers, and her siblings, Franklin Vickers, Rose Babcok, Georgia Corkin, and her grandchildren Jessica Leistikow & Zachary McCune in Eternity.

Left to cherish her memory and legacy are her children; Rosemary Leistikow, Debbie Chambers, Harold McCune, Bart (Michelle) Emerson, Bret (Elizabeth) Emerson, her brother Ronnie Vickers, brother-in-law, Donnie Corkin, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Linda will be remembered as a good wife & mother, a loving nana or granny as her youngest grandchildren insisted on calling her, a loving great-grandmother and a good friend. She was much loved and her presence will be missed by all who knew her.

There will be no viewing as per Linda’s request and a private memorial service will be held at the discretion of the family.

We wish to thank all the doctors and nurses, and those who cared for her and took the time to visit, her friends and family. Thoughts and prayers are appreciated during this difficult time.

Stephany Marie Plunk Young
Stephany Marie Plunk Young, age 28, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas died on May 12, 2019, near Idabel, Oklahoma.

She was born June 21, 1990, in Las Vegas, Nevada. She worked for Pilgrim’s and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Horatio, Arkansas.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Debbie Plunk and her grandfather, Thurman Plunk.

She is survived by one son, Cyrus Wayne Young; one daughter, Ray Lynn Young both of North Dakota; one twin sister, Heather Hill of De Queen; two brothers, Wayne Plunk and Randy Plunk; her grandmother, Joyce McGarrah Plunk; her father and step-mother, Brian Crownover and Sue Mills all of Horatio; and a number of step-siblings, nieces, and nephews.

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Young will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 17, 2019, at the Horatio Cemetery, with Bro. John Gutierres officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

Mr. Charles Liggin
Mr. Charles Edward Liggin, age 86, a resident of Lockesburg, Arkansas passed from this life on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, in Texarkana, Texas.

He was born on September 11, 1932, to the late George Edward and Gennetta Harris Liggin in De Queen, Arkansas. He worked on the railroad for D&E during the 1950’s and 60’s and later worked in the timber industry. He was a member of the Prairie Branch Hunting Club and was a Baptist. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most of all. he cherished the time spent with his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of over 20 years, Margorie McWhorter Liggin and one son, Randall Liggin, both passing in the 1980’s; one great-grandchild, latasha Leathers; three great-grandchildren, Alana, DJ and Kayle Leathers; four brothers, Frank, Glen, Fletcher and Walter Liggin; and four sisters, Callie Ross, Lillie McWhorter, Annie McNeice and Velma Liggin.

He is survived by two sons, Eddie Liggin and wife Becky and Tony Eugene Liggin and wife Kay, all of Lockesburg; ten grandchildren, Nicole Smith and husband Aaron, Tonya Cribb, Shane and Crystal Martz, Heather Thatcher, Chris Liggin and wife Sissy, Brandon Liggin and wife Cassandra, Darrell Potter, Tonya Conatser and Frankie Stamps and husband Billie; fourteen great-grandchildren, Mark, Noah, Bella, Mallorie, Landry, Lynli, Laney, Bentley, Lindsay, BJ, David and wife Tara, Jacob, Ely and Hunter; five great-grandchildren; as well as, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Charles Liggin will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, May 17, 2019 in the Old Union Cemetery with Bro. Wesley Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, May 16th , at the funeral home.
