Mr. Tim Brotherton

Mr. Timothy Haskell Brotherton, age 70, a resident of De Queen, died Monday, February 5, 2018 in Hospice of Texarkana.

Tim was born to Haskell and Ressie Bradley Brotherton on February 19, 1947 in Branch, Arkansas. He owned and operated Brotherton Timber Company for 46 years in Winthrop, Arkansas. He served in the military with the Arkansas National Guard, a member of the De Queen Rotary Club, and formerly served on the De Queen School Board for 17 years. He was a member of the Sweet Home Masonic where he was a 32 degree Mason. He enjoyed serving on the Board of Directors for Diamond Bank and was a member of the First Baptist Church in De Queen, where he was former superintendent of the adult Sunday School. Above all, he was a loving and kind husband, father, PaPa, uncle and friend to all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife of 31 years, Judy Brotherton, and a brother, Jim Brotherton.

He is survived by his wife of over 15 years, Debbie Brotherton, two daughters and sons-in-law, Robin and John Ponder of Mena, Arkansas, and Allison and David Crawford of De Queen, a step-daughter, Jennifer and her husband Nathan Bickle of Warner Robbins, Georgia, three grandsons, Zach Hodges of McAlester, Oklahoma, T. J. Bigham, and Nathan Hodges both of De Queen, two step-grandsons, Jonathan Bickle and Seth Bickle both of Warner Robbins, Georgia, four step-granddaughters, Colby Singleton of Mena, Arkansas, Macy Leggett of Cabot, Arkansas, Codi Crawford and Sally Kate Crawford both of Nashville, Arkansas, one brother and sister-in-law, Dwight and Elaine Brotherton of Waldron, Arkansas, two sisters and a brother-in-law, Gloria and Mike Dunn of Charleston, Arkansas, and Regina Kirkpatrick of De Queen, Arkansas

Funeral Services for Mr. Tim Brotherton will be held Thursday February 8, 2018 at 2:00 P.M., in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ray Reynolds and Steve Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Redmen Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 7th from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of De Queen or the Hospice of Texarkana, 2407 Galleria Oaks Dr., Texarkana, Texas 75501

Mrs. Nancy Massey

Mrs. Nancy Straughn Robertson Massey passed away peacefully at her home and went to see the Lord on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2018 in Horatio, Ar. She was born February 17, 1941 in Houston, Texas.

She was a retired farmer and USDA inspector. She was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in De Queen. Her passions in life included scuba diving, spearfishing, travelling, flying and other adventures as well as enjoying the company of family and friends. She loved to laugh and always wore a smile on her face. She was a loving and caring person, devoted wife, mother and friend, always thinking of others first. "To know her was to love her."

She was preceded in death by her parents, Renfro Robertson and Mary Marshall Ferguson Robertson. She was also preceeded in death by her beloved mother-in-law, Coleene Jackson Massey.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 55 years, T.C. Massey of Horatio; one son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Shelly Massey of Thompson, North Dakota; one sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Brooks Barron of Mena. She is also survived by five grandchildren and three grandchildren-in-law: Jayson and Melanie Massey of Franklin, Indiana; Patrick and Caitlyn Massey of De Queen; Jennifer and Kyle Albert of Flagstaff, Arizona; Tyler Massey of Flagstaff; and Brody Morgan Monreal. She leaves behind her beloved caregivers, Kathy Parker, Brandy Henthorn, Jennifer Biddle, Kara Kight, all of De Queen, and Jessica Barnett of Horatio. She will be sorely missed by all.

Visitation will be held Monday, February 5 from 5-7 p.m. at Chandler Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 6 at Grace Baptist Church at 487 Highway 71 north of De Queen, with Rev. Tim Johnson officiating.

Diane Louise Smith

Mrs. Diane Louise Smith, age 87, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at her home.

She was born December 10, 1930, in North Hollywood, California. Mrs. Smith was a member of Memorial Baptist Church, the Saturday morning Breakfast Club at the Ranch House, a cheerleader at De Queen High School, loved floral design, and was an avid Razorback fan.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis E. Smith and her parents Henry Hayden and Clarice Olevia Weaver Cheek.

She is survived by her son, Victor Smith of Danbury, Connecticut; her daughter, Cindy Creamier of De Queen; a sister, Sherry Coley of Ozark, Arkansas; her grandsons, Ryan Smith of Houston, Texas, Garrett Smith of Austin, Texas, and Dean Smith of Danbury; her granddaughters and grandson-in-law, Mindy and Aaron Kelley of Haslet, Texas, and Lindsey Smith of Danbury; her great-grandchildren, Chloe Smith of Houston, Texas, Jaylin and Kaden Smith of Blanco, Texas, and Rylie and Harper Kelley of Haslet; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Smith will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 3, 2018, in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Joe Carlton officiating. Burial will follow in the Redmen Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, February 2, 2018, at the funeral home.

Mr. Eddy Joe Turner

Mr. Eddy Joe Turner, age 83, a resident of Rogers, Arkansas, and former resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Tuesday, January 30, 2018, in Springdale, Arkansas.

He was born to Thomas Edward and Florence Addie Tyler Turner in New Hope, Arkansas on June 2, 1934. He was retired owner of the Chandler-Turner Ford Sales in De Queen. He worked in administration for Tyson Foods, and after his retirement, he was a salesman for Moore Chevrolet. He also worked part time for Chandler Funeral Home in De Queen. He was a member of the Memorial Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed yard work and horse back riding. He loved his family and cherished the time spent with family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of over 53 years, Faye Lemley Turner, and his siblings, Loyd Turner, Eule Turner, Clarence Turner, Gerald Turner, and Glen Dee Turner.

Eddy Joe is survived by one son, Eddy Joe “Joey” Turner, Jr. of Dierks, Arkansas, four grandchildren, Ashley Faye and her husband, David Daniel of Rogers, Arkansas, Trenton and his wife, Melissa Turner of Dierks, Landon Turner and his fiancée Katelyn Baldwin of De Queen, Autumn Turner and her fiancée, Levi Christenberry of Springdale, Arkansas, ten great-grandchildren, Kelton, Koleane, Kellie, Lexi, Layni, Andrew, Addison, Treyson, Zoey, and Kaden, one sister, Wildia Prather of Mena, Arkansas, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Eddy Joe Turner will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, February 3, 2018, in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Ken Rogers and Bro. Jason Carlton officiating. Burial will follow in the Redmen Cemetery, De Queen, Arkansas. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 2, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., at Chandler Funeral Home.

J. D. Kersey

J. D. Kersey, age 94, of Kirby, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2018.

He was born on March 23, 1923 in Hopper, the son of Carl Clifton Kersey and Lyda V. Coffman Kersey. On October 11, 1947 he married Opal Johnson Kersey who preceded him in death on February 21, 1996. He was also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Alicia Kersey; his parents; four brothers, Carl Kersey, Jr., Curtis Kersey, M. C. Kersey and Boyd Kersey; and two sisters, Monravia Henson and Coy Freeda “Tiny” Bell.

J. D. was Missionary Baptist in his faith and pastored several churches in his early life. He was a United States Army veteran and served in World War II. He grew up in a big family and had wonderful memories of his childhood that would shape the rest of his life. He was a farmer and worked in the timber industry. J. D. was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed doing many things which included growing a vegetable garden every year, walking in the woods with his squirrel dog, Odie, hunting, and keeping his fence rows clean.

He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Alex Kersey of Lockesburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Larry White of Kirby; four grandchildren, Shawna Talkington and her husband Mike, Tracy Moncus, Adam Kersey and Aaron Smith; six great-grandchildren, Sydney, Austin, Emma, Jasmine, Jude and Emmy; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Kirby and Marie Kersey and Billy and Mary Kersey, all of Kirby, Harold Kersey of Provo and Dortha Kersey of Arkadelphia; one sister and brother-in-law, Quilla and Joe White of Mount Pleasant, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, February 3, 2018, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood, with Bro. Bobby Golden officiating.

Visitation will be Saturday, 2:30 PM until service time.

Interment will be in Ebenezer Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Brian Haley, Harold Kersey, Jr., R. T. “Cisco” Henson III, Austin Talkington, Aaron Smith and Chris Kersey.

Memorials may be made to the Ebenezer Cemetery Fund, P. O. Box 131, Kirby, Arkansas 71950.

Jo Helen Walthour

Mrs. Jo Helen Walthour, age 81, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Wednesday, January 31, 2018, in De Queen.

She was born May 8, 1936, in Magnet Cove, Arkansas. She was a bookkeeper for the De Queen School District for 14 years and a member of the First Baptist Church of De Queen.

Mrs. Walthour was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Willie Smith Sexton; three brothers and one sister.

She is survived by her husband, Howard Walthour of De Queen; two sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Crystal Walthour of De Queen and Steve and Lauren Walthour of Mico, Texas; one daughter, Cheryl Gallop of Garner, North Carolina; three grandchildren, Tessa Walthour, Jennifer Gallop and John Gallop; two sisters, Kay White of Hot Springs, Arkansas and Vivian Albritton of Little Rock, Arkansas; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Walthour will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 2, 2018 in the Chapel Hill Cemetery with Rev. Josh Herweck officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Mr. Joseph Glenn

Mr. Joseph Addison Glenn, Sr., age 75, a resident of Wickes, Arkansas, died Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at his home.

He was born to Arlie Marcus and Avis Barnett Glenn in Fraziers Bottom, West Virginia, on October 12, 1942. He was a truck driver, for Bean Lumber Company, where he received an award for driving a million miles with no accidents. He attended the First Baptist Church of Wickes, and he enjoyed woodworking, and traveling.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wives, Xylphia Elouise Qualls Glenn, and Cledith Welcher Glenn, and a sister, Janet Glenn.

He is survived by two sons, Joseph Addison Glenn, Jr. of Fraziers Bottom, West Virginia, and Michael Glenn of Buffalo, West Virginia, a daughter, Charlotta Gail Glenn of Buffalo, West Virginia, four step-sons, Steve Hedrick of Wickes, and Bobby Hedrick of Moss Point, Mississippi, Raymond Wilcher and Jimmy Wilcher both of Wickes, two step-daughters Diana Gravely of Huntington, West Virginia, and Denise Piearcy of Mena, Arkansas, a very special friend, Rhonda Frachiseur of Wickes, five grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Joseph Glenn will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, January 27, 2018 in the Daniel Cemetery, Wickes with Bro. John Wisinger officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home of De Queen.
