Wanda Vaughn

Our wonderful, beloved mother and friend Wanda Lucille Neddersen Vaughn left us to be with God on January 3, 2018, surrounded by her family.

Wanda was born on October 29, 1932 in Arkansas. She lived on both sides of the country, eventually graduating from Benicia High School on June 6, 1951, in California. During her young adult life, Wanda lived in several places, including Viet Nam, but most was spent in Southern California. Eventually, in 1989, Wanda was called back to De Queen, Arkansas to be closer to her wonderful mother. She ultimately took care of her until her passing. Wanda proudly attended the Kern Heights Baptist Church in De Queen, Arkansas where she had the most wonderful devoted and loving friends. She referred to them as her church family.

Wanda was a book keeper by trade, but ultimately followed her passion in sewing and was a tailor. She started a teddy bear making business out of her home where she made and sold teddy bears of all kinds and styles. She spread so much joy with her sewing talents and with her witty jokes that made everyone full of joy around her. She met and married her late husband, Vernon, where they shared the last part of their life together in Arkansas. Wanda was moved by her daughter, Rhonda, to California in June of 2017 to be with her family. She so enjoyed being with her family and friends and participating in all our family activities in the last part of her precious life. We will miss her more than words can describe.

Wanda was preceded in death by her daughter, Pam Rasmussen, her husband, Vernon Vaughn, and her parents John H Brown, and Lela Mae Brown. She is survived by her son Butch Rasmussen and wife Caree of Moreno Valley, Ca., daughter Rhonda L. Welch and husband Alan L. Welch of Wheatland, Ca., and son Richard H. Neddersen of Desert Hot Springs, California. Her oldest grandsons Melvin C. Rasmussen, Christopher D. Purfor, Adam C. Mitchell, Michael Rasmussen and Matthew Rasmussen, granddaughters, Michelle McNally, Brandee Foster, great-granddaughters Ryleigh and Reagan Mitchell, her brother Billie D Brown and many nieces and nephews.
