Mr. Bryant York "B.Y." Gardner

Mr. Bryant York “B.Y.” Gardner, age 89, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, passed from this life, Tuesday, February 14, 2017 in a Hot Springs, Arkansas hospital.

He was born to Theo and Prudie Braime Gardner, on February 12, 1928 in High Point, North Carolina. He married the love of his life, Shirley Joyce Montez Gardner, on Christmas day in 1952. B.Y. served in all four branches of the United States Armed Forces, but retired from the Navy in 1967. He was a firefighter at the Dallas Naval Air Station, a private pilot, and was the proprietor of Gardner Mobile Home Park in De Queen. B.Y. enjoyed auctions, hunting, fishing, traveling, and most of all working at his trailer park. He was always a very gentle and generous man.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of over 20 years, Shirley Joyce Gardner; his two brothers and three sisters; as well as, an infant daughter Andrea Suzanne Gardner.

He is survived by his daughter Angela “Anji” Gardner of Hot Springs, Arkansas; one brother-in-law Ray Cromer of Flint, Texas; two granddaughters, Angelique and Shelley; four great-granddaughters, Sidnee, Bella, Rikki Brook, and Brittney; two great-great-grandchildren; two lifelong friends, Noe Hinojos and Benita Bahena, both of De Queen; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, other family members, and a host of friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Bryant York “B.Y.” Gardner will be held Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jason Carlton officiating. Burial will follow in the Avon Cemetery at De Queen. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, February 17, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.

Mrs. Mary Joe Alexander

Mrs. Mary Jo Alexander, age 45, a resident of Newhope, Arkansas, died Saturday, February 11, 2017, in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

She was born September 19, 1971, in De Queen. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Assembly of God Church.

Mrs. Alexander was preceded in death by her adopted parents, Otto and Mildred Deer, her birth mother, Mary Campbell, four brothers, Sonny, Larry, Earl and Danny Deer; and a sister, Emma Harris.

She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Marty Alexander of Newhope; one daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Damion Bean of Perry, Oklahoma; one son, Rickey Alexander of Newhope, Arkansas; her birth father and step-mother, Rickey and Jessie Deer of Nashville, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Adriana Bean of Perry, Oklahoma and Rikki Alexander and AJ Alexander both of Dierks, Arkansas; six sisters, Francis Ward of Dierks, Glenda Conatser of Nashville, Diane Cox of Dierks, Tammy Deer of Gillham, Arkansas, Geneva Davenport of Mineral Springs, Arkansas and Jeanette Woods of Nashville; one brother, Thomas Deer of Dierks and a number of nieces, nephews and host of other relatives.

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Alexander will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 15, 2017, in Sweet Home Cemetery with Rev. Kevin Herrington officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 14th at the funeral home in Dierks, AR.

Frances Tannahill

Mrs. Frances Tannahill, age 89, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Sunday, February 12, 2017, in De Queen.

She was born January 21, 1928, in Talco, Texas. She was a homemaker, a Jehovah’s Witness and loved flowers and gardening.

Mrs. Tannahill was preceded in death by her parents, Hoyt and Lucinda Hallie Gray Fry; one brother, James Fry; one sister, Faye Mason, and one daughter, Ella Chapman.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Carol Clark of Sulphur Springs, Texas; two daughters and a son-in-law, Carol and Tom Petet of De Queen and Phyllis Miller of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; two sisters, Bernice White of Bokchito, Oklahoma and Linda Walters of Muskogee, Oklahoma; 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and a host of friends.

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Tannahill will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 16, 2017, in the Chapel Hill Cemetery with Jerry Brazeal officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

Candida Zaragoza Gaona

Mrs. Candida Zaragoza Gaona, age 71, a resident of Horatio, Arkansas, died Saturday, February 11, 2017 at her home.

She was born September 19, 1945 in Guanajuato, Mexico. She was a homemaker.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 14, 2017 in the De Queen Seventh Day Adventist church with Stennett Nash officiating. Burial will follow in Horatio Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Betty Emogean Jackson-Dunlap Rives

Mrs. Betty Emogean Jackson-Dunlap Rives, age 81, a resident of Idabel, Oklahoma, died Saturday, February 11, 2017 in Idabel.

She was born September 20, 1935 in Cerro Gordo, Oklahoma. She was an office manager for Zales Corporation and attended By Pass Church of Christ.

Mrs. Rives was preceded in death by her parents, Thurman and Mary Louise Miller Jackson; and one brother, Thomas Jackson.

She is survived by her husband, Bob Rives; one son, Mike Dunlap of Mesquite, Texas; one daughter, Donna Watson of Lorton, Virginia; one step-son, Robert Rives of Mansfield, Texas; seven grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Rives will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 15, 2017 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Virgil Romine officiating. Burial will follow in Cerro Gordo Cemetery.

Family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday February 14th at the funeral home.

Mr. Jerry Moreland

Mr. Jerry Moreland, age 76, a resident of Winthrop, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 10, 2017.

He was born on December 21, 1940 in Bethel, Ohio to Catherine and Walter Moreland. He was a Vietnam veteran who retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service as a Master Sergeant. He then managed an auto parts store in Foreman for over 20 years.

Mr. Moreland was preceded in death by his parents; and two granddaughters, Cassie and Cassey Moreland.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Marie Moreland of Winthrop; four children and their spouses, Greg and Cheryl Moreland of Winthrop, Katie Moreland, also of Winthrop, Eric and Connie Moreland of Foreman, Arkansas, and Lisa and Petr Kraus, also of Foreman; ten grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren. He is also survived by four sisters and a brother, Janet Moreland of Maysville, Kentucky, Joyce and John Hamilton of Russellville, Ohio, Judy and Larry Fearis of Vanceburg, Kentucky, Jeff and Sandy Moreland of Richmond, Kentucky, and Cindy and Fred Herzog of Hamilton, Ohio; two brothers-in-law, Martin Maynard of Winthrop, and Lonnie and Tamlyn Maynard of Arvada, Colorado, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Moreland will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 14, 2017, in the Campground Cemetery with Carey Jensen officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Monday, February 13th at the funeral home.

Mr. Wayne George Fackler

Mr. Wayne George Fackler, age 83, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Thursday, February 9, 2017, in Ashdown, Arkansas.

He was born September 3, 1933 in Tolona, Illinois. He was a border patrolman and a security guard for Domtar. He was a U.S Army Veteran and attended Central Baptist Church in Ashdown.

Mr. Fackler was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver George and Elsie Tucker Fackler; a step-son, Quinton Ward, II; three sisters, Ruth, Helen, and Mary Margaret; three brothers, Kenneth, Frank, and Donald Fackler.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley McIntyre Fackler; two sons, Kenneth Fackler of Michigan and Dennis Fackler of Florida; four daughters, Wendy Wilson of Ohio, Vanessa Upton of De Queen, Anna Crisp of Dierks, Arkansas and Patsy Flowers of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; two nieces, Margaret Wallbusser and Bonnie Wiesmullerr; three nephews, Bobbie Cooper, Ricky Fackler, and Billy Simmons; other nieces and nephews; ten grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Wayne Fackler will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 13, 2017 in Old Union Cemetery with Don Embry officiating under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
