Mrs. Donna Golden

Mrs. Donna Cecieil Bethel Golden, age 75, a resident of Lockesburg, Arkansas, died Saturday,
July 3, 2016 at her home.

She was born in St. Charles, Missouri on October 30, 1940. She was an active member of the De Queen Church of Christ, and a homemaker. She enjoyed quilting, crafts, traveling, fishing, and painting.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Ollie Banks, a daughter Denice Rivera, a grandson, Parker Rivera, and two great-grandsons, Landon and Mason Bourque

She is survived by her husband, Allen Ray Golden of Lockesburg, three sons and daughters-in-law, James and Dana Rivera of Lafayette, Louisiana, Thomas and Marcie Robbins of Pollock, Louisiana, and Steven Robbins of Colfax, Louisiana, a daughter, Deann Rivera of Benton, Arkansas, two step-daughters and their spouses, Emmy and Danny Bailey of Lockesburg, and Amanda and Joel Whisenhunt of Nashville, Arkansas, two grandsons, Will and his wife, Courtney Bourque of Hiram, Georgia, five granddaughters, Allison and her husband, Jacque Romero of Youngsville, Louisiana, Lauren Rivera and Madelyn Rivera both of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Peyton Rivera of Lafayette, Louisiana, and Danelle Robbins of Minden, Louisiana, three step-grandsons, Dustyn Golden of Lockesburg, Arkansas, Hadyn Whisenhunt and Caleb Whisenhunt both of Nashville, Arkansas, two step-granddaughters, Kristina Young of Lockesburg, Arkansas, and Lauren Whisenhunt of Nashville, Arkansas, three great-grandchildren Leo Robbins, and Jude Robbins both of Minden, Louisiana, and Amy Romero of Youngsville, Louisiana,

Funeral Services for Mrs. Donna Golden will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, July 7, 2016, in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel, De Queen, with Toney Stowers and Bobby Tatum officiating. Burial will be on Friday, July 8, 2016 at 2:30 P.M. in the St. Charles Memorial Garden, Saint Charles, Missouri, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen, AR Visitation will be on Thursday, from 12:00 noon until service time.

Mr. DeWayne Barnes

Mr. Anthony DeWayne Barnes, age 56, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas, died Monday, July 4, 2016 at his home.

He was born to Lee Jr. and Patsy Joyce Hawkins Barnes in Dallas, Texas, on August 26, 1959. He was a millwright, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cherished the time spent with family.

He was preceded in death by his father, his maternal grandparents, Jack and Eva Hawkins, and his paternal grandparents, Lee and Maggie Barnes.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Patsy and John Siebert of Sulphur Springs, Texas, A son, Michael Barnes of Dierks, Arkansas, one brother and sister-in-law, Rick and Lindy Barnes of Forney, Texas, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Dana and Monte Stringfellow of Horatio, Arkansas, and Rose and Paul Jackson of Dierks, Arkansas, three nephews and their spouses, Matt and Misty Barnes of Forney Texas, Cody and Shawna Stinnett of Horatio, Arkansas, and Justin and Kayla Jackson of Dierks, Arkansas, three nieces and their spouses, Jennifer and Andy Glidewell of Forney, Texas, Meagan and Matt Blanton of Van Buren, Arkansas, and Amber Jackson of Texarkana, Arkansas, his long time friend and fishing buddy, Mike Whitaker of Dierks, Arkansas.

Memorial Services for Mr. DeWayne Barnes will be held at 2:00 P. M., Saturday, July 9, 2016 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bobby Neal officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

Mr. Olie D. "Doc" Brown

Mr. Olie D. "Doc" Brown, 71, passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2016, after a brief illness. Graveside services were held on Wednesday, June 29, at the Northwest LA Veterans Cemetery, with Military honors by the Barksdale AFB Honor Guard. Officiate was Pastor Wade Allen of Pilgrim Home Baptist Church.

Doc was a native of Memphis, TN, a former resident of De Queen where he practiced medicine, and a resident of Benton, LA for 17 years. He was preceded in death by hisr father, Olie Brown, Sr. and mother, Helen Brown. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Diann Brown; daughter, Susan Demoss; sons, John Brown and Jeff Huffman; grandchildren, Haley Huffman, Alisha Huffman and Clayton Huffman.

Pallbearers were Jeff Huffman, Jon Heimeyer, Charles Benton, John Schieme, James Griffen and Trenton Price.

Mr. James Leon Cogburn

Mr. James Leon “Doogie” Cogburn, age 68, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas, died Monday, July 4, 2016, in Little Rock, Arkansas.

He was born on March 15, 1948, in Hatfield, Arkansas. He was a retired heavy equipment operator for Weyerhaeuser for 20 years, a self-employed mechanic, a member of the Oak Hill Masonic Lodge, an antique automobile enthusiast and a Christian.

Mr. Cogburn was preceded in death by his parents, James “Jim” and Dora Perrin Cogburn and four sisters, Mary Lou Moore, Ruthie Cogburn, Helen Cogburn and Deffie Cogburn.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Thelma Hile Cogburn; one daughter and son-in-law, Lutrica Lynn and Mike Ward; one son, Daniel Lee Cogburn all of Dierks; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Hazel Demasters of Lodi, Arkansas, Betty Cooper of Marvell, Arkansas and Pat and Johnny Kesterson of Dierks; one brother, Lloyd Cogburn of Lodi, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Brittany and husband Ben Witherspoon of Nashville, Arkansas, Aaron McRaven, Blake Cogburn, Jarod Cogburn and Jennifer and husband, Zach White all of Dierks; two great-grandchildren, Landry Craven of Nashville and Addison White of Dierks and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Cogburn will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 7, 2016, in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in Dierks with Farrell Shepherd and Kenny Fant officiating. Burial with Masonic rites will follow in the Fellowship Cemetery in Dierks.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 6th at the funeral home in Dierks.

Memorials may be made to the Dierks High School band or the Fellowship Cemetery fund.

Helen Mae Lott Holloway

Helen Mae Lott Holloway, age 67, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas died Sunday, July 3, 2016 at Dierks Health and Rehab.

She was born September 17, 1948 in Dierks. She was a member of the Bethany Missionary Baptist Church in Dierks; a house keeper for Dierks Health and Rehab and former owner of Our Lil Playskool in Dierks.

Mrs. Holloway was preceded in death by her parents, Henderson and Ethel Hill Lott; husband, Jerry “Pea Vine” Holloway; one sister, Willow Staggs; two brothers, Grady and Clayton Lott.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Dewayne and Gail Holloway of Hot Springs, Arkansas; one daughter, Laura Romine of Dierks; three grandchildren, Ashlee and Benjamin Holloway of Nashville, Arkansas and Cole Pitts of Hot Springs; three brothers, Don Lott of Dierks, Jay Lott of Lockesburg, Arkansas and Ronald Lott of Ashdown, Arkansas; one sister, Hazel Pinson of Nashville; two great grandchildren, Melody and Byron and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.

A memorial service for Mrs. Holloway will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 7, 2016 at the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in Dierks with Dewayne Holloway officiating.

Ruby Pearl Batey McWhorter

Mrs. Ruby Pearl Batey McWhorter, age 101, a resident of Prescott, Arkansas formerly of De Queen, Arkansas, died Wednesday, June 29, 2016, in Prescott.

She was born September 14, 1914, in Provo, Arkansas. She was a retired cook and member of Trinity Baptist Church in Springfield, Oregon.

Mrs. McWhorter was preceded in death by her husband, Allie Floy McWhorter; her parents, Rufus and Nora Hollard Batey; and two sons, Jimmy Dale McWhorter and Dean McWhorter.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Ruby Jean and Rufus Askew of Prescott, Arkansas; one son and daughter-in-law, Jack McWhorter and Judith George of Indio, California; two nieces, Jo Pruitt and Trixie Lee Purtell; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. McWhorter will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 2, 2016, in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Provo, Arkansas, with Joe Brown and Larry Fry officiating. Burial will follow in the McHorse Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen, Arkansas.

Vernon George Smith, Jr.

Vernon George "Fuzzy Smith, Jr., age 71, a resident of Lockesburg, Arkansas died Sunday, June 26, 2016 at his home.

Fuzzy was born November 2, 1944 in Bay City, Michigan. He enjoyed riding his Harley, He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and a retired U.S. Army Veteran having served in the Vietnam War.

He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon George Smith, Sr.

Fuzzy is survived by his mother, Edna Jenkins Smith; one son, Jeff Smith of Lubbock, Texas; one daughter, Karen Smith or Michigan; two sisters, Lori and Debbie; and two grandchildren, Sterling and Weston.

A private burial will be held at a later date.
