Mr. Horace Gene Poole

Mr. Horace Gene Poole, age 73, a resident of Texarkana, Texas, died Wednesday, June 08, 2016, At his home.

He was born to Gay Harold and Iva Belle Lyons Pool in Malta, Texas, on March 16, 1943. He was a retired auto mechanic, and enjoyed fishing, camping, and working on cars.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Deborah Poole, a daughter, Garlyn Rachelle Poole, and four brothers, Gerald “Sonny” Pool, Harold Pool, Larry Pool, and Charles Wayne Pool.

He is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Nancy Poole of Texarkana, AR, Jerry Poole of Nash, Texas, Horace “P.J.” and Tiffani Poole of Texarkana, Ar, and Zachary Poole of Texarkana, Texas, two daughters, and a son-in-law, Lisa Poole, Ra and David White of Texarkana, Texas, a brother, Lawrence Pool of Fresno, Calif., a sister, Delpha Pool of Bryant, AR, five grandchildren, Rachael Helton of Mineral Springs, Ar, Breagan White, Courtland White, and Morgan White, all of Texarkana, Texas, and Alex Poole of Texarkana, AR, three great-grandchildren, Easton Helton of Mineral Springs, AR, Adalyn Helton, and Calliope Negron both of Texarkana, Texas, and a number of nieces and nephews.

A private memorial service will be at a later date. Cremation under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen, Arkansas.

Mr. Cletius "Bones" Irvan

Mr. Cletius “Bones” Irvan, age 87, a resident of Horatio, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at his home.

He was born on November 5, 1928 in Rush Springs, Oklahoma. He worked in maintenance for Weyerhaeuser and was a Navy Veteran having served in WWII.

Mr. Irvan was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Stuart and Jennie Mae Irvan.

He is survived by his wife Sarah Lorine Irvan; three daughters and their husbands, Vicki and Freddie Bodine of Horatio, Arkansas, Karen and Mike Montalvo of Palestine, Texas, and Nita and Kent Morris of King, Arkansas; two sons and their wives, Jeff and Terri Irvan of Horatio, Arkansas, and Nathan and Marilyn Irvan of Ogden, Arkansas; one sister and her husband, Mary and Norton Wells of Dallas, Texas; one brother and his wife, Franklin and Deborah Irvan of Horatio, Arkansas; twelve grandchildren; twenty one great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Irvan will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 10, 2016 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Clear Creek Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00- 8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Arlin Lester Kesterson

Mr. Arlin Lester Kesterson, age 76, a resident of Eagletown, Oklahoma, died Friday, June 3, 2016 in Wadley Regional Medical Center, Texarkana, Texas.

He was born to Ruben Lester and Elma Theresa Porter Kesterson in Dierks, Arkansas, on July 24, 1939. He served in the military with the U. S. Army, and was retired from Tyson Foods, where he was manager of the Truck Shop. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, Monday night wrestling, woodworking, carpenter work, and he cherished the time spent with family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Stevie Allen Kesterson, Chad Michael Kesterson, a grandson, Christopher Casey, a brother, Garland L. Kesterson, a sister, Evaleen Brown, a sister-in-law, Kathy Kesterson, and a brother-in-law, Delbert Runnels. He is survived by his wife, Sandra L. Gist of Eagletown, Oklahoma, three sons and a daughter-in-law, Ricky Joe and Sally Kesterson of Grannis, Marlin Lynn Kesterson of Athens, Texas, and Mark Anthony “Tony” Kesterson of De Queen, a step-daughter, Jennifer Wright of Eagletown, Oklahoma, five grandchildren, Mandy Jo Davis, Shaun Allen Kesterson, Jacie Marie Kesterson, Kacie Collins, Terah Gist, five great-grandchildren, a sister, Bettye Runnels of Nashville, Arkansas, and a number of nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his wife’s family, three sisters-in-law, and their spouses, Jo and Pete Ashalintubbi, Carolyn and Doug Talley All of Eagletown, Oklahoma, and Judye Givens of Henderson, Nevada.

Funeral Services for Mr. Arlin Kesterson will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, June 7, 2016 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel, De Queen. Burial with military rites will follow in Fellowship Cemetery, Dierks, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. Visitation will be Monday, June 6th from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., at Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen, Arkansas.

Linville Wesley Monroe

Linville Wesley Monroe, 88, of Lake Jackson, TX, entered heavens Gates on May 23, 2016, in Houston, TX. Lin was born January 30, 1928 to Cleve and Jenny Monroe in Arkansas. Lin was married to Daisy "Dusty" Lucille Hess until her passing.

Lin spent more than 32 years in his professional career with Dow Chemical; he also owned his own advertising business for more than 50 years. Lin was a devoted father, grandfather, friend, and member of Cornerstone Nazarene Church where he served as a Sunday school teacher.

Lin is preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife Dusty, and two brothers, Glenn and Rayburn Monroe.

Lin is survived by his daughters, Sharon Rigby and Danna Monroe; his son, Ronald Monroe; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his brothers, Kenneth (wife Linda) Monroe, and Alton (wife Rachel) Monroe; and his sister-in-law, Jean parks and Carolyn Monroe.

Funeral services were held on Friday, May 27, 2016 at Restwood Funeral Home at 12:00 p.m.

Mr. Howard Wirt Bass

Mr. Howard Wirt Bass, age 99, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Sunday, May 29, 2016, at his home.

He was born on August 2, 1916 in Hillsboro, Wisconsin. He was a foreman for Arizona Public Service Company and a member of the Beacon Hill Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Mr. Bass was preceded in death by his parents, William and Martha Bass, his wife, Bertha Bass; his son, Larry Bass; his daughter, Barbara Perez and one granddaughter, Amber Bass.

He is survived by his nephew. Edward O. Arms; three granddaughters, Vandana Estevez, Cameron Bass and Jody Bass; three great-grandchildren, Riley Estevez, Esmy Latham and Anthony Estevez; his caregivers, Isi Estevez and Tara Brown; special cousin, Arlanda Bass and father figure to Paul Walkup and Roger Lovell.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Tomah, Wisconsin.

Cremation arrangements by Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen, Arkansas.

Vern Foster

Vern Foster, age 76, of Cartersville, Virginia, formerly of De Queen, Arkansas, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2016.

She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Little of Cartersville, Laurie Penrod of Norfolk; granddaughters Christina Barrett, Amanda Baker of Norfolk; a great granddaughter Emma Rose Baker; and a brother-in-law, Jerry Foster of De Queen.

The family will receive friends Wednesday 1 to 2 pm in The Muddy Creek Baptist Church in Powhatan, followed by services at 2 p.m.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2016 in Chapel Hill Cemetery in De Queen.

Alvin Boyd Burris

Mr. Alvin Boyd Burris, age 80, a resident of Gillham, Arkansas, died May 27, 2016 at his home. He was born to Walter and Florence Louise Simpson Burris in King, Arkansas, on March 3, 1936. He graduated from Gillham High School in 1955, where he played softball. He lived most of his life in the Gillham area, and was a boy scout. He was retired from Weyerhaeuser, in 1997, and was a member of the First Assembly of God in De Queen. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and being outside.

Mr. Burris was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, W. L. Burris and L. D. Burris, one brother-in-law, Charles Claydorn, one sister-in-law, Agner Burris, three nephews, David Burris, Randy Burris, and Ron Clayborn.

He is survived by his wife of over 58 years, Maude Fisk Burris, of Gillham, one son, Dwayne Burris of Gillham, one daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Mike Alexander of Cove, Arkansas, one sister, Joyce Clayborn of Eugene, Oregon, one sister-in-law, Linnie Burris of Longview, Texas, two nephews, Harold Burris, and James Burris, three nieces, Marguita Corless, Pam Martindale, and Debbie Blacknock, other family members and his brothers and sisters in Christ.

Funeral Services for Mr. Alvin Burris will be held on Monday, May 30, 2016, at 10:00 a.m., in the First Assembly of God Church, De Queen, with Pastor Ray Reynolds, and Pastor Jay Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow in the Gillham Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

Visitation will be Sunday, May 29th from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M.
