Mr. Josue Retana Zaragoza
Mr. Josue Retana Zaragoza, age 43, a resident of Horatio, Arkansas died Saturday, January 10, 2015 in Idabel, Oklahoma.

He was born to Mario Retana Lopez and Ma Socorro Zaragoza Zavala in Leon GTO, Mexico. He was a Jehovah Witness, and a handyman.

He was preceded in death by his father.

He is survived by his wife, MaRefugio Lozano Juarez of Horatio, one son, Josue Retana, Jr. of Horatio, three daughters, Laura Retana, Mariela Retana, and Carla Retana all of Horatio, his mother, Ma Socorro Zaragoza Zavala of Mexico, two brothers, Mario Retana and Thomas Zavala both of Mexico, five sisters, Juanita Retana, Laura Retana both of Las Angeles, Calif, Veronica Retana, Sarahi Retana, Lupita Retana, all of Mexico, three grandsons, Aaron Quintana, Ariel Quintana, and Axel Quintana all of Horatio

Visitation will be Wednesday, January14th from 10:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M., and on Thursday, January 15th from 9:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Chandler Funeral Home. Memorial Service for Mr. Josue Retana will be held on Saturday, January 17th at 12:00 Noon in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Rodger Earl Rightmire
Rodger Earl Rightmire, age 58, a resident of Eagletown, Oklahoma, died Saturday, January 10, 2015, in Eagletown.

He was born December 28, 1956, in De Queen.

Rodger was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Dorothy Browning Rightmire; one sister, Katherine Short and one son, Raymond Rightmire.

He is survived by one son, Robert Rightmire of Duncan, Oklahoma; five brothers, Kenneth Rightmire of Oregon, Bobby Rightmire and Jackie Rightmire both of De Queen, Joe Ed Rightmire of Altus, Oklahoma and Larry Hall of Gillham; two sisters, Barbara Jean Rightmire and Frances Bailey both of De Queen; one granddaughter and a number of nieces and nephews.

No memorial services are scheduled at this time. Cremation arrangements by Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Mr. Truman Tollett
Mr. Truman Tollett, age 99, a resident of Lockesburg, Arkansas, died Sunday, January 11, 2015, in the Dierks Health and Rehab in Dierks, Arkansas.

He was born October 26, 1915, in the New Bethel Community. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lockesburg and was a World War II Army veteran. Mr. Tollett enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and being with his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, June Slaton Tollett; his parents, Mark and Florence Harder Tollett and one great-great-granddaughter, Hiedi Smith.

Mr. Tollett is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Gary Lynn and Betty Tollett; one daughter, Karen Harper; five grandchildren, Joel Harper and wife Leah of Lockesburg, Tony Tollett of Lockesburg, Rebecca Pope and husband Andy of Nashville, Arkansas, Melissa Hanney and husband Richard of Lockesburg and Michelle Harrison and husband Danny of Lockesburg; eight great-grandchildren, Britney Mitchell, Paige Smith and Allison Harrison, Megan and Dustin Smith, Cole Hanney, Heather Bounds and Brandi Turner; four great great-grandchildren, Clay Mitchell, Austyn Mitchell, Easton Bounds and Emersyn Smith.

Funeral services for Mr. Tollett will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 14, 2015, in the Lockesburg First Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Gilliland officiating. Burial will follow in the Lockesburg Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 13th at the funeral home in De Queen.

Mrs. Mary Ann Powell
Mrs. Mary Ann Powell, age 74, a resident of Gillham, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, January 10, 2015 in the St. Vincent’s Hospital in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

She was born July 4, 1940, in Ajo, Arizona. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Powell was preceded in death by her husband, Quinton Alva Powell and her father Manuel Eberling.

She is survived by her mother, Lupe Stoner of Arizona; four daughters, Tammy and Joe Marquez of Safford, Arizona, Monica Powell and Gene Dringmon of Minnesota, Stella and Frank Kenney of Magnolia, Arkansas and Veronica and Tim Whitley of Gillham; one sister, Betty Cruz of Arizona; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Powell will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2015, at the Valley Cemetery with Steve Chenoweth officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

Charles Everett Strickland
Mr. Charles Everett Strickland, age 67, a resident of De Queen, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 9, 2015.

He was born April 1, 1947, in Port St. Joe, Florida. He was a brakeman and conductor for D&E TOE Railroad and a U.S. Army Veteran.

Mr. Strickland was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie Everett and Lillie Mae Wheat Strickland.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Taylor Strickland; five sons and three daughters-in-law, Chuckie and Dana Strickland of Lockesburg, Arkansas, Jerry and Mandee Strickland of Caddo Gap, Arkansas, Richard and Dacia Strickland of Henderson, Texas, Ricky Strickland of Tennessee and Chad Strickland of Florida; three granddaughters, Haley, Madelyn and Talley Strickland; one brother, J.D. Strickland of Dayton, New York; three sisters, Beatrice Beebe and Edna Lucinda Strickland both of De Queen and Dorotha Biever of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Funeral services for Mr. Strickland will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 12, 2015, in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Ronnie Hardin officiating. Burial will follow in the Horatio Cemetery.

Charlie Ray Smith
Mr. Charlie Ray Smith, age 68, a resident of De Queen, died Thursday, January 8th in the Arkansas Heart Hospital, Little Rock, Arkansas.

He was born to C. C. and Bonnie Rae Smith in De Queen, Arkansas, on March 6, 1946. He was a retired logger and truck driver, and was a Christian. He enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his forever best friend, Judy Cowling of Horatio, a daughter, Cindy Smith of Dardanelle, Arkansas, a grandson, Triston Smith of Dardanelle, Arkansas, a sister, Bobbie Jean Jones of El Dorado, Arkansas, a nephew, Ken Jones, and his wife, Bonita of El Dorado, Arkansas and one great-nephew, Will, and one great-niece, Molly.

Funeral Services for Mr. Charlie Smith will be held at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, January 10th in Chandler Funeral Home Chapel, De Queen, with Bro. Roy Conatser officiating. Burial will follow in the Belleville Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home on Friday, January 9th from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.

Mr. Allen Alton Ward
Mr. Allen Alton Ward, age 78, a resident of Horatio, Arkansas, died Wednesday, January 7, 2015, at his home.

He was born April 26, 1936, in Horatio. He was retired from International Paper Company and was a U.S. Army veteran.

Mr. Ward was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Edgar and Ivy Ward and one son, Allen A. Ward, Jr.

He is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Lorine and Dan Ayers and Teresa Emerick all of De Queen; two grandchildren, Alex Ayers and Casey Hardaway and her husband Timmy; two great-grandchildren, Lance Hardaway and Heidi Belle Hardaway; several brothers and a sister.

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Ward will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 10, 2015, in the Clear Creek Cemetery with Rev. Larry Fry officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
