Max Alan Adcock, Sr.
Max Alan Adcock, Sr., age 61 of Nashville, Arkansas went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 in Little Rock, Arkansas.

He was born August 24, 1953 in Bryan, Texas to the late Quentin and Doris Robertson Adcock. He was a retired Coach and school administrator. Max was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church. He was Horatio’s Salutatorian in the class of 1971. After high school Max received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Education with a Major in Physical Education, then he received his Masters of Education with a Major in Education and Administration, finally receiving his Administrator’s Certificate. Also while in college he received Honorable Mention, All-AIC defensive tackle in 1972 and 1973. All- AIC Defensive Tackle in 1974, Outstanding College Athlete of America in 1975, Who’s Who in American College and University in 1975, District 1-AAA football runner up in 1984 and 1987, District 1 -AAA football champions 1982 and 1985, and finally Hempstead County Educator of The Year in 2011. He was also a lifetime member of the NRA.

He is survived by his wife- Cindi Diane Bishop Adcock of Nashville, his former wife- Brenda Adcock of Mena, 4 sons- Max Alan Adcock, Jr and wife Shanna of Mena, Kirby Bishop Adcock of Nashville,
Kelsey Johnson and wife Kristen of Nashville, Kolten Johnson of Nashville, 1 Daughter- Tamara Jayne Smart and husband Aaron of Mena, 2 Brothers- Warren Adcock and wife Jo of Farmington, Arkansas, Pat Adcock and wife Beth of Hot Springs, 1 Sister- Beth Piearcy and husband Philip of Mena, 5 Grandchildren- Aubri Johnson of Brock, Texas, Carleigh Smart of Mena, Lainey Smart of Mena, Macaden Johnson of Lockesburg, and Shooter Johnson of Ashdown and a large host of other family, friends and former football players and coaches.

Graveside services will be Monday, December 22, 2014 at 10 am at Clear Creek Cemetery near Horatio with Bro. Billy Dawson officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon at the Horatio Football field from 4 to 5:30 pm.

Rocky L. Norman
Rocky L. Norman, age 66 of Nashville, Arkansas, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 in Nashville. He was born July 25, 1948 in Sidon, Arkansas to Alton and Mary Lawrence Norman. He was a retired Hatchery Manager for over 25 years with Tyson Foods. He was a very dedicated family man, spending all of his free time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Alton Norman, a brother, Kenneth Norman, and a sister, Patsy Norman.

He leaves to cherish his memory; his mother, Mary Norman of Washington, State, his wife, Martha Norman of Nashville, 2 sons; Ken and wife Chantel Norman of De Queen, Arkansas and Tim and wife Krissie Norman of Wicks, Arkansas, 3 Brothers, Larry Norman of Washington, State, Stan Norman of California and Steve Norman of California, 2 Sisters, Winona and husband Bill of California and Echo and husband Bill Penley of Washington, State, 8 Grandchildren, Jonathan and Rose Davidson of Conway, Arkansas, Ashley and Deagan Ruthardt of Magnolia, Arkansas, Nick Reves of Wicks, Arkansas, Harley Norman of Bossier City, Louisiana, Vince Norman of Franklington, Louisiana, Macy Norman of Bossier City, Louisiana, Rachel Norman of Wicks, Arkansas, Riley Norman of De Queen, Arkansas, 1 great grandchild, Brynley Ruthardt of Magnolia, Arkansas and a host of other family and friends too numerous to name.

Services will be Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 1 pm. at Nashville Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Baker Cemetery near Wicks, Arkansas. Mrs. Arie A. Deloney
Mrs. Arie A. Deloney, age 94, of Kankakee, Illinois, and former resident of Lockesburg, died Sunday, December 14, 2014 at her residence. She was born July 20, 1920 in Lockesburg, Arkansas, to Pink and Rosebud Williamson Johnson. She was the secretary in the family agriculture business and had also worked as a cook in a nursing home, as well as a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Earl Austin and Curtis Deloney, a son, Anthony Austin, a brother, Judge Johnson and three sisters, Mable Austin, Lucy Bell, and Dorothy White.

She is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law, Leonard Austin of Little Rock, Raleigh and Sheryl Austin of Raytown, MO, and Ruth Austin of Raymore, MO, three daughters and two sons-in-law, Ruby and Ira Nelson of Kankakee, IL., Emma Burrell of Kankakee, IL, and Margaret and Michael McNeil of Raymore, MO, one sister, Marjorie Wright of York, PA, in-laws, M. C. McElroy of Texarkana, Ark, Frances McElroy of Lockesburg, 18 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Arie Austin-Deloney will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, December 20, 2014, in New Zion Baptist Church in Lockesburg, Arkansas, (Oak Grove Community ) with Pastor Ronald Goodloe and Rev. Kelly Wilbert Austin officiating. Burial will follow Williamson Cemetery, Lockesburg, Arkansas. Visitation will be at the New Zion Baptist Church from 12:00 until services time.

Mrs. Patricia Ann Shaw Ramirez
Mrs. Patricia Ann Shaw Ramirez, age 60, a resident of De Queen, died Monday, December 15, 2014, at her home.

She was born September 5, 1954 in De Queen. She was a former employee of Pilgrim’s Pride and a member of the Pentecostal Church.

Mrs. Ramirez was preceded in death by her parents, Osben and Inez Gentry Shaw; one brother, Doyle “Buck” Shaw; one sister, Mary Jane Shaw.

She is survived by one daughter, Vicky Ortega of De Queen; two grandsons, Shane Vazquez and Cody Nava; three great grandchildren; two brothers, Curtis Shaw and Sammy Holt of Horatio, Arkansas; six sisters, Lorene Mullinax, Jewel Shaw, Katie Valdez, Diane Shaw, Mary Kay Brizendine all of De Queen and Shirley Pratt of Broken Bow, Oklahoma and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Ramirez will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 19, 2014, in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in De Queen with Charles Ligon officiating. Burial will follow in Avon Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, December 18th at the funeral home.

Mrs. Shirley Ruth McDonald Allen
Mrs. Shirley Ruth McDonald Allen, age 68, a resident of Dierks, died Monday, December 15, 2014 at her home.

She was born August 15, 1946 in Cerro Gordo, Arkansas. She was a teller at Diamond Bank in Dierks and a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Dierks.

Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Eunice Crowell McDonald; her husband, Wallace Troy Allen; one sister, Georgia Frady and one great-granddaughter, Lily Ellis.

She is survived by three sons, John Tosh and his wife Stacia of New Boston, Texas, Clay Allen of Dierks and Ben Allen and his wife Brittney also of Dierks; two daughters, Tracy Thomas and her husband Jon of Nashville and Michelle Ellis of Jackson, Tennessee; two brothers, Frank McDonald of Foreman and Jim McDonald of De Queen; two sisters, Nina Hinton of Texarkana, Texas and Jean Higgins of De Queen; seven grandchildren, Justin Turner, Derek Turner, Casey Tosh, Eli Ellis, Sarah Ellis Knipp, Ethan Ellis and Lauren Burkett; six great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Allen will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 18, 2014, at the Holly Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Dierks with Rev. Richard Leach and Rev. J.W. Gilbert officiating. Burial will follow at the Sunshine Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 17th at the funeral home in Dierks.

Mrs. Myrtle Elizabeth Larson
Mrs. Myrtle Elizabeth Larson, 100 of Gillham, Arkansas went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 13th at her home. Born May 12, 1914 to Herbert Marshall and Ethel Boren McMaster near Okolona, Arkansas. She married Willie Lee Larson on September 18, 1935 and celebrated their 60th anniversary.

Proceeded in death by her parents, husband, infant daughter, Judith, step-mother, Iva Williams McMaster, brother, Herbert Que McMaster, and his wife, Elizabeth, and her beloved pet, Honey.

Survived by her sons, Larry Larson and wife, Dorothy of Paragould, Max Larson of Gillham, granddaughter, Larisa Wallace and husband Mason of Paragould, great-grandsons, Eli Mason and Ty Larson Wallace, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Special thanks for care givers, Queta Bryan, Myra Buchanan, Fran Gonzales, Shirley Bice, Stacy Gregory, Shirley Tallant, and the staff at Ouachita Regional Hospice of Mena.

Myrtle grew up in Okolona moving to Norphlet when she was 10 where her father worked in oil fields and mother owned a café, bakery and boarding house. She graduated at the top of her class at Norphlet in 1932 and was an outstanding athlete playing basketball and baseball. The Rotary Club of El Dorado gave her a loan of $300 for college and she attended Henderson State College for two years, where she excelled in classes and on the basketball court. Returning to Norphlet, she taught 5th grade and coached basketball. When she married she could no longer teach because of the depression and only one earner in a family. Using her teaching skills she continued by doing Bible Study courses at First Baptist Church and Liberty Baptist Association Churches. Working with youth was a passion and a group of 25 young men, known as RA’S, met at her home each week for food, fun and fellowship, as the war started the fellows went overseas to fight for our country all returned but one. She was active in school affairs for her sons and often substituted for teachers. Willie lost his job in 1958 so at age 44, she returned to Henderson to gain her degree to return to teaching. She taught at Parkers Chapel, Norphlet and Gillham schools. Myrtle and Willie moved to the farm near Gillham in 1970 and became a team to turn their farm into a show place by clearing land, building ponds, raising cattle, always with a large garden that was shared with all the community. She loved her church, First Baptist Church, Gillham and her Sunday School class which she taught until she was 92. Young people were always her passion and she encouraged and helped many kids to excel in studies and life. She had a wonderful long life and often said, “I would love to live it all over again”! She loved her family, her church family and most of all her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

A celebration of her life will be held at First Baptist Church in Gillham on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at 2:00 P.M., with Bro. Jerry Hill, and Bro. Steven Chenoweth officiating. Individuals will be able to share memories. Burial will follow at Valley Cemetery on the hill overlooking their farm. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 16th from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Chandler Funeral Home. Lasting memorials may be sent to: The Gideon’s International, P. O. Mrs. Rowena Hargis Morris
Mrs. Rowena Hargis Morris, age 82, a resident of Gillham, Arkansas, died Friday, December 12, 2014 in the Wadley Regional Medical Center in Texarkana, Texas.

She was born on April 22, 1932 to Lee and Mecie Overturf Hargis on Hargis Mountain in Howard County, Arkansas and was one of sixteen children. She attended school at Umpire, Arkansas; she was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ in De Queen. She loved her family, sewing and gardening.

Mrs. Morris was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Scotty Presson; six brothers, Alvie, Elbert, Edgar, Ervin, Sammie and a twin brother Richard Hargis; three sisters, Velma Hargis Hart, Maggie Hargis McShan and Ruth Hargis Neal.

She is survived by her husband, Floyd Morris, Sr. of Gillham; one daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Jim Presson; one son and daughter-in-law, Floyd Jr. and Kim Morris; one sister, Margaret Louise Hargis Bearden; one granddaughter and husband, Jennifer and Joe Collier; one grandson and wife, Clay and Laci Morris; three great grandsons, Ty and Tate Collier and Zane Morris; one great granddaughter, Heidi Morris and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral service for Mrs. Morris will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 16, 2014, in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Bobby Tatum and Tye Barnett officiating. Burial will follow in the Overturf Cemetery.

Family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, December 15, 2014 at the funeral home.
