Isaac A. Golden

Isaac A. Golden, age 83, resident of Dierks, died Friday, Feb. 13, 2004 in Howard County Memorial Hospital in Nashville.

He was born Jan. 2, 1921 in Langley; was a retired foreman from Pilgrim’s Pride; and a member of Midway Church of Christ. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Luisa Thomas Golden.

He is survived by his wife, Lillie M. Aleshire Golden; two sons, Billy Golden of Dierks and Jimmy A. Golden of Rogers; one daughter, Verna Qualls of Dierks; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 16, 2004 in Saline cemetery near Athens with Rev. John Henry Williams officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.

George LeRoy Dudley

George LeRoy Dudley, age 60, resident of De Queen and formerly of Missoula, Mont., died Monday, Feb. 16, 2004 in De Queen.

He was born Feb. 22, 2004 at Siloam Springs to Harold D. and Tressie Irene “Dolly” Robinson Dudley; served in the U.S. Military; was a former commercial pilot; a construction contractor; and a Baptist.

He was predeceased by his mother; and a brother, Derrell E. Dudley.

He is survived by his father, Harold D. Dudley of De Queen; and a sister, Carla Bennett of Slidell, La.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home.

Ruby Wilson

Mrs. Ruby Faye (Brummett) Wilson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister, age 65, a resident of Dierks, died Wednesday, May 26, 2004 at her home.

She was born October 8, 1938 in Dierks. She was member of the Dierks Church of Christ.

Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Maude (Wyant) Brummett; her sister, Mabel Stokes; one brother, J.T. Brummett and her granddaughter, Casey Chandler.

She is survived by her husband, Herman Wilson of Dierks; two daughters and sons-in-law: Rita and David Chandler and Sherri and Chester Semmler; one son and daughter-in-law: Steve and Darla Wilson, all of Dierks; three sisters: Stella Bevis of Little Rock, Elsie Hart of Tuscon, Ariz. and Vera Buck of Nashville; one brother: Ray Brummett of Nashville; six grandchildren: Jennifer Chandler, Amanda Wilson, Matthew Wilson, Nicole Semmler, Dillon Semmler and Amy Semmler and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Wilson were held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 28, 2004 in the Dierks Church of Christ with James McRae, minister officiating. Burial followed in the Fellowship cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.

Nadine Mitchell

Mrs. Nadine Bennings Mitchell, age 68, a resident of De Queen, died Friday, June 4, 2004 at her home.

She was born October 12, 1935 in Prattsville, Arkansas. She was the owner of Mitchell's True Value Hardware and JC Penney Catalog Store, the former owner of Knight's Department Store, and a member of the Church of Christ in De Queen.

Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Russell Mitchell, Sr. on October 13, 1998; her parents, Jeff and Myrtle Shoptaw Bennings; one brother, Robert Bennings; and one sister, Corene Hollinger.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law: Chuck and Rhonda Mitchell; two daughters and sons-in-law: Patti and Michael Clay and Kathy and Garry Richards, all of De Queen; two sisters: Lorece Chapman of De Queen and Lavonda Davis of Bryant, AR; and seven grandchildren: Garry Jr. and Chris Richards, Macy Clay, Jeffery, Caylee and Stevie Mitchell and Alex Wright.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Mitchell were held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 7, 2004 in the Church of Christ in De Queen with Van Ledbetter and James McRae, officiating. Burial followed in the Redmen cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

The family received friends from 2:00-4:00 p.m., Sunday, June 6, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the De Queen Church of Christ, 1305 W. Collin Raye Dr., De Queen, AR 71832 or the American Cancer Society, 1599 Clifton Road, N.E., Atlanta, GA 30329.

Burrel Lisenby Oglesby

Mrs. Burrel Lisenby Oglesby, age 77, resident of Foreman, died Tuesday, June 1, 2004 in Little River Memorial Hospital in Ashdown.

She was born Aug. 28, 1927 in Cerro Gordo; was a homemaker; and a member of King Ryder Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Dalton Lisenby in 1993 and Euel Oglesby in 2003; and her parents, Andrew and Annie Martin.

She is survived by two sons, Dalton D. Lisenby Sr. of Ashdown and Farrell D. Lisenby of Foreman; one sister, Judy Ennis of Seattle, Wash.; five grandsons; one step-granddaughter; and seven great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, May 3 in Dollarhide cemetery with Bro. Frank Plemmons officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

Stephanie Steaderman

Mrs. Stephanie Sue (Coulter) Steaderman, age 55, resident of Lockesburg died Wednesday, June 16, 2004, in the Christus St. Michael Healthcare Center in Texarkana.

She was born July 18, 1948 in Longview, Tex.; was a teacher for the mentally challenged in De Queen and Texarkana; and attended First United Methodist Church in Lockesburg. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles David Coulter.

She is survived by her husband, Roger Steaderman; one daughter, Stephanie Murphy of Dallas, Tex.; her mother, Mary L. McGee Coulter of Lockesburg; two brothers, Steve H. Coulter of Houston, Tex., and Charles M. Coulter of Lockesburg; four grandchildren and three nephews.

A memorial service was held at 1 p.m., Saturday, June 19 in First United Methodist Church of Lockesburg with Rev. Lynn McClure officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home of De Queen.

Mr. Tom Cowling

Mr. Glenn Thomas Cowling, age 65, resident of De Queen, died Saturday, May 22, 2004 at his home. He was born the son of J. P. and Eva Mae Oakley Cowling at De Queen, Arkansas, on February 8, 1939.

He was an Army veteran, and was a retired structural ironworker in Chicago, with over 30 years service. In this capacity, he helped to construct the John Hancock Building, the First National Bank of Chicago, the Chicago Civic Center, and the Sears Tower. He was a member of the Iron Workers Union, Local #1 Chicago. He enjoyed cars, motorcycles, his motor home, watching movies, and reading.

Tom met Carolyn in 1964 and they married on June 26, 1965. They were together in marriage for almost 39 years in love, as well as best friends. They had a wonderful life together with their two daughters, Carla and Melinda, and their special little dog, Ginger. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his father and mother-in-law, Walter and Tompie Allen; two brothers-in-law, Walter Allen, Jr. and H. L. Smith; and a niece, Deborah Allen Love.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Allen Cowling of De Queen; two daughters and son-in-law, Carla E. Cowling of Fayetteville and Melinda and Robert Hass of Springdale, Arkansas; one brother, Chet Cowling of Texarkana, Texas; one brother-in-law, Marlin, and his wife, Diane Allen, of Lake Charles, Louisiana; four sisters-in-law, Marolyn and her husband, Wendell Needham, of De Queen; Joyce and her husband, Roy Smith, of De Queen; Barbara Allen of Plano, Texas, and Floy Smith of Hot Springs, Arkansas; a number of nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Tom Cowling were held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 25, 2004 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Jerry Brazeal officiating. Burial followed in the W. L. Allen Family cemetery, De Queen. The family received friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, May 24th at the funeral home.

Brittany Belcher

Brittany Nacole Belcher, age 8, a resident of Gillham, died Friday, April 16, 2004 near Gillham.

She was born November 10, 1995 in De Queen and was a member of the Geneva Missionary Baptist Church.

She is survived by her father, Kevin, one sister, Bethany; her grandparents, Jean Browning of Broken Bow, OK and Earl Pritchett of De Queen and Richard Belcher of Gillham; her great-grandparents, Leroy and Jerry Browning of California.

Funeral Services were held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 21, 2004 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bobby Neal officiating. Burial followed in the Overturf cemetery.

The family received friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 20, at the funeral home.

John Allen Morgan

Mr. John Allen Morgan, 83 of Shelby, NC, died Tuesday, May 4, 2004 at his home.

He was born Sunday, March 20, 1921 in Bethel, Oklahoma. He was the son of the late William Pink Morgan and Hattie Tate Morgan. He attended Texarkana Junior College and Southeastern Teachers College. He retired from the U.S. Army after thirty years, during which he served in World War II, Korea, and Viet Nam. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, camping and fishing. He attended the Community of Christ Church in Charlotte, NC.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Sharp Morgan on July 3, 2002; two brothers, Taylor and Bill Morgan, and three sisters, Gertrude Bender, Hazel Corley and Ruth Corley.

He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law; Lynda and Gerry Mayo of Atlanta, Ga. and Peggy and Ali Paksoy, Jr. of Shelby, NC; four grandchildren, Stephanie Norrell of Montgomery, Ala., Lance Shapiro of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Whitney Bridges of Los Angeles, Calif., and Travis Mayo of Atlanta, Ga.; four great-grandchildren, George Norrell, William Norrell, Whit Shapiro, and John Shapiro; four sisters, Leona Fly of Larkspur, Colo., Faye Kirk of Vista, Calif., Marjorie Taylor of Winthrop, Ark., and Shirley Methvin-Logsdon of Albuquerque, NM.

Funeral Services for Mr. Morgan were held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 8, 2004 in the Community of Christ Church in Winthrop, Ark. with Terry Hess officiating. Burial followed in the Campground cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen, Ark.

The family received friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Friday, May 7, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC 28150; The America Cancer Society at 500 East Morehead St., Charlotte, NC 28202, or the charity of your choice.
