Steven Edward Barbre
Steven Edward Barbre, age 49, resident of Dierks, died Saturday, July 24, 2004 in Hot Springs.
He was born Oct. 11, 1954 in De Queen; was a logger; and a member of Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survived by one son, Adam Barbre and one daughter, Tonya McKee, both of Dierks; his parents, Edward and Rosalen Barbre of Dierks; three sisters, Sharon White and Linda Christopher, both of Dierks, and Diane Tollett of Prescott; four brothers, David Barbre, Billy Barbre and Larry Barbre, all of Dierks, and Dallas Simmons of New Hope; four grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 27 in Fellowship Baptist Church with Bro. J.W. Gilbert officiating. Burial followed in Fellowship cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 26 at the Dierks funeral home.

Dorothy Farrow
Mrs. Dorothy "Dot" Ruth Farrow, age 66, a resident of Lockesburg, died Monday, July 12, 2004 in the Christus St. Michael Healthcare Center in Texarkana.
She was born Wednesday, December 15, 1937 in Ben Lomond, Arkansas. She was a truck driver and homemaker.
Mrs. Farrow was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Cathleen Barnes Wolfe, and one grandson, Cody Farrow.
She is survived by her husband, Don Farrow of Lockesburg; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Roy and Brenda Farrow of De Queen, Ken and Lynn Farrow of Lockesburg, and Clay Farrow of Taos, New Mexico; one daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Kevin Smart of Lockesburg; two brothers and sisters-in-law, J. A. "Bear" and Gerry Wolfe of Springhill, Louisiana and Charlie and Arleta Wolfe of Grandbury, Texas; and 11 grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Farrow were held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 15, 2004 in the Chapel Hill cemetery with Rev. David Rowe officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Irene Gore
Irene Gore, age 92, resident of Jacksonville, died Friday, June 11, 2004.
She was born Oct. 19, 1911 in Horatio to Oscar and Rhonda Edmonson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Boon Gore.
She is survived by a son, Jay Gore of Jacksonville.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 14 in Moore’s Funeral Home Chapel at Jacksonville with Pastor James Edwards officiating. Private burial was held at Horatio cemetery.

Dorothy Faye Clements
Dorothy Kaye Smith Kerlin Clements, age 80, resident of Arkadelphia, died Saturday, July 3, 2004 in Baptist Medical Center at Arkadelphia.
She was born Jan. 29, 1924 in Dierks to Dewey Erastus Smith and Lora Barnes Smith; was a housewife; and retired from the U.S. Postal Service. She was a Past-Matron of the Peach Valley Order of the Eastern Star, Lockesburg; and a member of the De Queen Chapter #241 Order of the Eastern Star and the Lockesburg Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Kernard Riley Kerlin; and her husband, Anylon L. “Bo” Clements.
She is survived by one daughter, Linda Quattlebaum of Arkadelphia; two sisters, Bonnie Jo Cathey of Hot Springs Village and Mary Lorene Crenshaw of Shreveport, La.; one brother, Dewey Edward Smith of De Queen; and two granddaughters.
Graveside funeral services with Eastern Star Rites were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 6 in Redmen cemetery with Dr. Tom Martin officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.
Visitation was Monday, July 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Chandler Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Arkadelphia.

Allen Keith Morris
Allen Keith Morris, age 54, resident of De Queen, died Saturday, July 10, 2004 at his home.
He was born Oct. 9, 1949 at De Queen to Robert Nathan “Hub” and Louisia Ward Morris; was an employee of De Queen Sand and Gravel; and was a member of Union Community Church and Gillham Volunteer Fire Department. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Keith Robert Morris in 1981; and a daughter, Misty Morris in February of 2002.
He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Jean Bradley Morris of De Queen; one daughter, Kandi Morris of De Queen; four brothers, Vernon Morris of Golden, Okla., Bobbie Morris of Hughes Springs, Tex., Milton Morris and James Carl Morris, both of Gillham; one sister, Judy Mills of Gillham; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 13 in Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Oscar Ball and Rev. Mike Watkins officiating. Burial followed in Overturf cemetery at Gillham.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 12 at the funeral home.

Warren Spurgeon
Warren Spurgeon, age 82, resident of De Queen, died Thursday, June 24, 2004 at his home.
He was born Nov. 1, 1921 at Lake City, Iowa to Walter and Nora Holm Spurgeon; was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II; a farmer; and a semi-truck driver.
He is survived by three sons, Michael Spurgeon of San Francisco, Calif., David Spurgeon of Arkansas, and Jeffery Spurgeon of De Queen; one brother, Merle Spurgeon of Austin, Minn.; one sister, Ilene McClung of Florence, Ariz.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home of De Queen.
A graveside service will be held in Cedar cemetery, Cedar Township, Iowa.

Vernon DeFoor
Vernon DeFoor, age 63, resident of Gillham, died Wednesday, June 23, 2004 at his home.
He was born Dec. 4, 1940 at Breckenridge, Tex., to Wilbur and Rachael DeFoor; served in the U.S. Marines; and was a retired welder.
He is survived by one son, Kirk DeFoor of Gillham; two daughters, Leslie Strength of Coleman, Tex., and Toni DeFoor of Brownwood, Tex.; two sisters, Irene Stockton of Broken Bow, Okla., and Darlene Parramore of Lubbock, Tex.; six grandchildren; five great-grand-children; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 25 in Mineral cemetery under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home of De Queen.

India Efird
India Smead Efird, age 84, a resident of Dierks, died Thursday, July 1, 2004 in the Christus St. Michael Healthcare Center in Texarkana, Texas.
She was born Monday, August 25, 1919 in Daisy, Arkansas. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Dierks.
Mrs. Efird was preceded in death by her husband, W. W. Bob Moore; one son, Gary Bob Moore; two brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by her husband, Guy Efird of Dierks; one sister and brother-in-law, Robbie and Leroy Ray of Texarkana, Ark.; one grandson, Kyle and wife, Lana Moore of Texarkana, Ark.; one granddaughter, Sandy Moore of Mineral Springs, Ark.; and two great-grandchildren, Brady and Brenna Moore of Texarkana, Ark.
Funeral services for Mrs. Efird were held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 3, 2004 in the First Baptist Church in Dierks with Rev. Mike Watkins officiating. Burial followed in the Dierks cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.
The family received friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Friday, July 2, at the funeral home in Dierks.

Linnie Belle Manasco
Mrs. Linnie Belle Lacefield Griffin Manasco, age 81, resident of Horatio, died Friday, July 9, 2004 in Pleasant Manor Nursing Home at Ashdown.
She was born April 8, 1923 at Alleene to Olin and Bertha Owens; was a member of Old Center Holiness Church; and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Junior Lacefield; two sisters, Dorothy Lawson and Verna Webster; her husband, Floyd Griffin; and a daughter, Vickie Griffin.
She is survived by her husband, Cy Manasco of Horatio; three sons, Charles Griffin, Calvin Griffin and Roy Dean Griffin, all of Horatio; one daughter, Linda Boyd of Horatio; four brothers, Hubert Lacefield, R.C. Lacefield, Billy Lacefield and Floyd Lacefield, all of De Queen; one sister, Lola Mae Barkman of Vidor, Tex.; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grand-children; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 11 in Old Center Holiness Church with Bro. Sam Hendricks officiating. Burial will follow in Old Center cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

Joana And Juan Gonzalez
Joana Gonzalez, age 3, and Juan Carlos Gonzalez, age 7 months, died Tuesday, June 29, 2004 in De Queen.
Joana was born Aug. 11, 2000 in De Queen and Juan was born Nov. 19, 2003 in De Queen. They attended St. Barbara’s Catholic Church in De Queen.
They are survived by their parents, Carlos and Maria Vences Gonzales of De Queen; paternal grandparents, Pedro Pablo Gonzales of De Queen and Cenorina Trejo of Mexico; and maternal grandparents, Reynel Vences and Asencion Miguel, both of Mexico.
A Rosary was held at 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 30 in Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral Mass was held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 1 in St. Barbara’s Catholic Church with Father John Kerr officiating. Burial followed in Redmen cemetery.
