Dr. Sidney William Arnold

Dr. Sidney William Arnold, 78, of Marked Tree died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004 at Three Rivers Nursing Home in Marked Tree.

Born in Kansas City, Mo., he was a graduate of the University of Arkansas Medical School, a past professor at the University of Tennessee School for Medical Sciences and past chief of staff at Crittenden Memorial Hospital.

He was a World War II Navy veteran.

Survivors include his wife: Mary Ann Ritter Arnold of the home; one sister: Jane Norris of Superior, Ariz.; one daughter: Melissa Wrenn of Brentwood, Tenn.; two sons: Paul Arnold of Nashville, Tenn. and Ritter Arnold of Marked Tree; and seven grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 - 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 11 at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall in Marked Tree.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 12 at the First United Methodist Church in Marked Tree with Rev. Shelia Jones officiating.

A reception will immediately follow the memorial service in the church fellowship hall.

The body will be cremated.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Marked Tree United Methodist church Choir at P.O. Box 357; Marked Tree, AR 72365 or the Arkansas Children's Hospital at 800 Marshall St., Slot 661; Little Rock, AR 72202.

Linda Lanell (Bishop) Reynolds

Linda Lanell (Bishop) Reynolds, 52, of Marked Tree died Sunday, August 8, 2004 at her home.

Formerly of Harrisburg, she was born June 30, 1952 in Harrisburg, the daughter of Buell Cleo (B.C.) and Agnes Lanell (Hitt) Bishop.

She was a homemaker and a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.

She enjoyed painting, singing, gardening and watching humming birds.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Jackie Bishop.

Survivors include her husband, Rennie Reynolds of Marked tree; one son: Danny Burney of Trumann; two brothers: Charles E. Bishop of Lexington, Tenn. and J.C. Bishop of Wynne; and three sisters: Penny Vick of Marked Tree, Agnes Bell Sharp of Harrisburg and Wanda Faye Farley of Warm Springs.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 11 at Jackson's Harrisburg Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Kenny McMahan officiating.

Burial followed in Farm Hill Cemetery.

Family members served as pallbearers.

Bertha Marie Norton

Bertha Marie Norton, 86, of Harrisburg, died Sunday, May 23, at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Born at Sitka, she was a homemaker, a former school cafeteria supervisor and worked providing care for children and the elderly.

She was a member of Harrisburg Church of Christ.

Survivors include two daughters, Beverly Marie Macha of Levelland, Texas, and Rose Nell Blanchard of Harrisburg; five grandchildren, Harold Edward Weston, Debbie Weston Carpenter, Donna Weston Cowdrey, Scottie Ray Blanchard and Lori Blanchard Garland; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Norton; her parents, Quint Tompkins and Virgie Mae Sanders Tompkins; and two brothers.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 26 at Harrisburg Church of Christ with Bob McDoniel and Jerry Thompson will officiating.

Burial followed in Harrisburg Memorial Park Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were John Tompkins, Greg Biggers, Brian Lane, Glen Holmes, Bill Mears and Curt Cowdrey.

Honorary pallbearers included James Wright, Calvin Lee, Bill Weston, Carmack Sanders, Marvin Wilson, Wayne Mardis and Melvin Messer.

The family asks that memorials be made to the Harrisburg Church of Christ or to Children's Homes of Paragould.

Alma Jean Sikes

Alma Jean Sikes, 51, of Blytheville died Tuesday, March 30, 2004 of heart failure at her home.

Sikes was born in Luxora and was a housewife.

Surivors include her companion, Danny Timms of Blytheville; her daughter, Marion Sikes of Dade City, Flo.; her son Larry Sikes of Dade City, Fla.; seven sisters: Alice Mathina of Pocahontas, Glenda Wade of Blytheville, Peggy Crouse of Blytheville, Ethel Warren of Fort Myers, Flo., Mary Bachuss of Pocahontas, Jane Cox of Gonsell and Marie Murphy of Blytheville; and one brother: David Murphy, Jr. of Kennett, Mo.

Sikes was preceded in death by her parents David and Pinky Murphy.

Arrangements were handled by Wilson funeral home in Blytheville.

Brenda Ann Coleman

Brenda Ann Coleman, 37, of Osceola died last Saturday, March 27, 2004 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Osceola.

A teacher's aide, Coleman is survived by her mother, Elizabeth Coleman; two daughters, Markeisha Rayford of Osceola, Shania Kasha Coleman of Osceola; two sisters, Wanda Coleman and Clemostene Coleman of Osceola and two brothers, Willie Lee Coleman, Jr. of Osceola and James Coleman of Sacramento, Ca.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in Osceola.

Visitation will be held Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Wilson Funeral Home in Osceola.

Burial will be held at Sandy Ridge in Burdette.

Wilson Funeral Home in Osceola had charge of the arrangements.

Russell Jarrett, Jr.

Russell Jarrett, Jr., 63, of Osceola died last Saturday, March 27, 2004 at his residence.

A retired truck driver, Jarrett was born in Brownsville, Tenn. and was a Baptist.

Jarrett is survived by three daughters, Annette Stevenson of Osceola, Linda James of Osceola, Princess Jarrett of Memphis; three sons, Russell Jarrett, III of Osceola, Albert Jarrett of Osceola, Tyson Henderson of Osceola; four sisters, Fannie Mae Mitchell of Osceola, Clarice Jarrett of Henderson, Tenn., Jennie Jarrett of Decatur, Ill. and Ann Pirtle of Brownsville, Tenn.

Jarrett was also survived by one brother, Willie Lee Bonds of Osceola, 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Osceola, with Dr. Moses Black officiating.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Osceola.

Burial will be at Whiteside Cemetery.

Wilson Funeral Home in Osceola had charge of the arrangements.
