‘Wood’ Surratt Sr.

Woodrow “Uncle Wood” Surratt Sr., 81, of Porter, Okla., died March 12, 2003.
He was born April 4, 1921, in Pottsville, a son of Arthur and Beller (Holland) Surratt, the ninth of 12 children. He was a farmer, construction worker and mail carrier.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine Surratt; two sons, Woodrow Surratt Jr., of Tulsa, and Herman Surratt of Porter, Okla.; two daughters, Betty Surratt of Los Angeles, and Shirley Carter of Tulsa; one stepdaughter, Mae Frances Bass of Los Angeles; two brothers, Dee Surratt of Muskogee, Okla., and A.C. Surratt Sr. of Porter, Okla.; one sister, Eleathia Tucker of Detroit; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two children, Charles Surratt and Lois Jean Surratt, two stepchildren, Otis Booker and Johnnie Booker; his brothers, P.M. Surratt, Lonnie Surratt and F.T. Surratt; and three sisters, Inola Surratt Taylor, Gearsenia Surratt Nixon and Iola Surratt Curry.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Saturday at Greater Rayfield Baptist Church in Muskogee, Okla., by the Rev. Leroy Walker Sr. Burial was at Lincoln Cemetery in Porter by Keith D. Bigelow Funeral Directors.
Pallbearers were Paul Bryan Surratt Sr., Mario Surratt, Sheldon Jay Surratt, Christopher R. Surratt, and Elliott Surratt. Honorary pallbearers were Dee Surratt, Thamous Surratt, Lemuel Taylor Jr., A.C. Surratt Sr., A.C. Surratt Jr., and Woodrow Surratt.

‘Lulu’ Marks-Bunting

Nancy Lucille “Lulu” Marks-Bunting, 71, of Conway, died Saturday, March 15, 2003.
She was born April 24, 1931, in Little Rock, a daughter of John and Cora Marks. She was head cook at Shah’s Restaurant in Russellville. She was a member of Sinai Church of God in Christ where she served as evangelist missionary and hospitality president. She was the widower of C.L. Bunting.
Survivors include one brother, George Green of Oaklawn, Calif.; five grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Saturday at Sinai Church of God in Christ by Elder S.D. Mitchell. Burial was at Rest Haven Cemetery in Russellville by Wilson and Jarrett Funeral Home Inc.
Pallbearers were Robert Virgil, Robert Virgil Jr., Rufus Virgil Jr., Dexter Williams, Samuel Bunting, Mike Bunting, Theodore Bunting, and Gary Benson.

Jerry Norman

Jerry Preston Norman, 51, painter and artist, of Bryant, died Friday, May 24, 2002.
He was born Sept. 1, 1950, to Troy Norman and Ruby (McQuire) Norman of Des Arc.
Survivors include three sons, Michael Holt of Little Rock, Daniel Holt of Nebraska and Jeremy Norman of Illinois; two daughters, Stacey Polston of Jacksonville and Samantha Bixby of Little Rock; two brothers, Roy Norman and James (Shorty) Norman of Benton; three sisters, Virginia House of Little Rock, Lillie Sliter of Dardanelle and Shelia Lewis of Hensley; his parents Ruby and Neal Hicks of Houston; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and 12 grandchildren.

Alta Hanserd

Alta May Brassfield Hanserd, 95, of Burley, Iowa, formerly of Plumerville, died Sunday, June 2, 2002.
She was born Oct. 9, 1906, in Leando, Iowa, the daughter of Jared and Lucinda Brown Brassfield. She worked for Mountain Bell Telephone Company for several years, where she was a operator supervisor. She was the widow of William Charles Hanserd.
There were no immediate survivors.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the Rupert Cemetery, with the Rev. Al Trachsel, officiating.
Arrangements are by the direction of Payne Mortuary.

Eva Perry

Eva Dean Moore Perry, 73, of Morrilton, died Monday, June 3, 2002.
She was born March 17, 1929, in Plumerville, a daughter of Roy Moore and Lena Stacks Moore. She was the widow of Kenneth Perry, and attended Riverview Baptist Church.
Survivors include two brothers, Carl Moore and Dennis Moore, both of Morrilton; two sisters, Marvell Lawson of Morrilton and Norma Jean Levels of Jacksonville.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the Harris Chapel with Bro. Harvey Williams officiating. Burial will be at Wolfe Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.

Orvil Edmondson

Orvil Tilmon Edmondson, 84, of Little Rock, died Monday, June 3, 2002.
He was a member of the Assembly of God church, and a retired farmer. He was the son of the late Noah Tilton and Jennie Katherine Horton.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Elizabeth Edmondson, three sons, Bill Edmondson of Jacksonville, Jim Edmondson of Monroe, La., and Dr. Ted Edmondson of Wynne; two sisters, Iva Mae Roberts of Walnut Grove, Okla., and Lovie Hawkins of Perrvyille; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
A gathering in memory of Mr. Edmondson will be 11 a.m. today (Wednesday) at Griffin Leggett Healey and Roth Chapel. Interment will follow at Arkansas Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements are by Griffin Leggett Healey and Roth Custom Funerals and Cremations, 5800 W. 12th, Little Rock 661-9111.

Bertha Hebert

Bertha Hebert, 94, of Sacramento, Calif., died April 17, 2002.
She was born Dec. 3, 1907, in Cleveland, a daughter of Will and Ora Garlington White. She was a member of the Capitol City Seventh-day Adventist Church in Sacramento.
There were no immediate survivors. Services and burial were in Sacramento.

Dorothy Butler

Dorothy Ward Butler, age 82, of Morrilton, Arkansas, died Monday, August 5, 2002.
She was born October 10, 1919, in Burleson, Texas, a daughter of Otis Eugene Ward and Mary Dunn Ward. Mrs. Butler was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Literary Coterie, the third woman to receive the honor of life member for women of the church, member of North Side PTA, and Morrilton Band Boosters.
Survivors include her husband, O.D. “Brink” Butler; daughter, Anne Dixon of Morrilton; daughter and son-in-law, Jane and David Judkins of White Hall; grandsons, Doug Dixon and Kyle Judkins; and granddaughters, Kimberly Dixon and Heather Judkins.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 7, at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Kris Crawford officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
Pallbearers will be Bill Gunderman, Scott VanHoose, Fred Peck, Dean Roach, Bill Cheek, Lindsey Parks, Charles Jackson, and George Wade.
Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church in Morrilton or Elmwood Cemetery.
