Imogene Leftwich
Imogene Leftwich, 76, of Van Buren, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, in Van Buren. She was a homemaker and member of the Church of Christ in Alma.
Survivors include her husband, Junior; four daughters, Carolyn Ann Brown of Spiro, Sandra Lee Riley and Deborah Joy Riley, both of Van Buren, and Vicki Lynn Allen of Fort Smith; one son, Anthony Wayne Leftwich of Conway; one sister, Veda Mae Wolf of Wheatland, Mo.; three brothers, Jim Walker of Alma, Kenneth Walker of St. Louis and Bill Walker of Pineville, La.; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Dec. 7 at Edwards Van-Alma Chapel. Burial was at Alma Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were family members.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Edward Mercy Hospice, P.O. Box 17000, Fort Smith, AR 72917-7000.

Dave McGee
Dave McGee, 80, of Van Buren, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002. He was retired from the Marine Corps after serving 25 years. During that time he served in eh South Pacific in World War II, in Korea during the Korean Conflict, and in Vietnam. He received the following decorations, Asiatic Pac Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Theatre, Korean Service W/1, Korean Presidential Unit Citation, United Nations Personal Citation, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Service Medal, Pistol Expert Badge and Rifle Expert Badge. He worked for 12 years as a career counselor for Louisiana, and taught high school vocational training in Louisiana for three years. He was a member of Kibler Road Church of God and V.F.W.
Survivors include his wife, Maxine; two sons, David McGee of Van Buren and Donald McGee of Mukilteo, Wash., one daughter, Helen Medley of Fort Smith; four grandchildren, Dustin Medley, Brian Medley, Angela Medley and Pamela Medley; one sister, Lotus Cagle of Lake Charles, La.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will e held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be held with full military honors at U.S. National Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be Charles McCord, Earl Summerhill, Layton Davis, Jim Morland, Layne Hurst and Eugene Morse.

Helen Jones
Helen S. Jones, 69, of Alma, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2001. She was a retired vice-president of Commercial Bank of Alma, a member of First Baptist Church of Alma, where she also taught Sunday school.
Survivors include her husband, Arles; two daughters, Tonda Dean of Alma and Dawn Arnold of Kibler; one sister, Betty Teague of Alma; four grandchildren, Timothy Dean of Little Rock, Daniel Dean of Alma; Elizabeth Arnold and Tesia Arnold, both of Kibler.
Funeral service was held Jan. 29 at First Baptist Church of Alma. Burial was held at U.S. National Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be Dickie Teague, Kenneth Hanna, Wesley Warnock, Buddy Teauge, Jerry Osborne and Nathan Teague.
Honorary pallbearers were Bert Meadors, W.R. Teague, Bob Harris, Bill Harris, Tom Harris, Kerry Brown, David Peters, JIm Davenport, Bro. John Evans, Otis Arnold, Tommy Steward, Rick Douglas, Roy Austin, Terry Carson, Dockey Brasher, A.J. Lee, Dr. Bart Sills, Ron Condren, Ron Haught, Dale Austin and Buel Harris.
The family will receive friends at 633 Meadowbrook Drive in Alma.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Alma Building Fund.

Rev. Welcome Nix
The Rev. Welcome Thornton Nix, 84, of Van Buren, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at a local hospital. He was an Army veteran of World War II, a Southern Baptist minister and a member of the Van Buren First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred; three daughters, Evelyn Scott of Fort Smith, Linda Joanne Polly of Killeen, Texas, and Bonnie Lee Haag of Van Buren; a son, William Henry Nix of Van Buren; two sisters, Jessie Brown of Fresno, Calif., and Willie Mae Moore of Cullman, Ala.; 25 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral service was held Jan. 29 at Van Buren First Baptist Church. Burial was held at Ewing Chapel Cemetery in Stilwell under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Adams, David Wright, Emmitt Hampton, Andy and Scotty Scott.
Honorary pallbearers will be ministers.

Ora Lewis
Ora Lewis, 94, of Alma, died Jan. 24, 2002, in her residence. She was a homemaker and a member of Maple Shade Church of the Nazarene. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Lewis; a daughter, Mary Louise Lewis; and a son, Russell Farrell Lewis.
Survivors include one daughter, Freda Mae Smith of Alma; four grandchildren, Sheryl Ann Dotson of Van Alstine, Texas, Douglas Keith Smith of Alma, Karen Elaine Lewis and Russell Dewayne Lewis, both of San Antonio, Texas; and four grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Maple Shade Church of the Nazarene. Burial will be held at Newberry Cemetery in Alma under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
The family will visit with friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Edith Treadaway
Edith Treadaway, 81, of Alma, died Saturday, June 29, 2002, at a local hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Fort Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, George.
Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy Miller of Cedarville; six sons, George Treadaway Jr. of Alma, Donald, Billy Ray and Kenneth Treadaway, all of Van Buren, and Jerry and Christopher Treadaway, both of Fort Smith; three sisters, Esther Presson of Eagletown, Okla., Millie Gohres of Las Vegas and Linda Hughes of Horatio; two brothers, Robert Hohmann of Houston and Charles W. Hohmann of Alma; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Graveside service was held July 2 at Woodlawn Mausoleum Chapel. Burial was at Woodlawn Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.

Robert Rowden
Robert Joseph Rowden, 71, of Alma, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002. He was a Air Force veteran of the Korean War, a retired employee of Schucks Construction and was of the Protestant faith.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Rowden; four daughters, Carolyn Rowden and Vicki Yaeger, both of Phoenix, Ariz., and Nancy Rowden and Deven Rowden, both of Alma; five sons, Bobby Rowden Jr., Ronny Rowden, Vince Smith, Vance Smith and Vaughn Smith, all of Alma; three sisters, Mary White and Alma Billington, both of Alma, and Jean Herzog of Danville; three brothers, Tom Rowden of Arizona, Don Rowden and Rich Rowden, both of Alma; and 10 grandchildren, Josh, Michael, Carlos, Ryan, Carneilus, Colby, Emily, Daci, Cardell and Jessica.
Funeral service was held Feb. 1 at Ocker Chapel of Alma. Burial with full military honors will be held at U.S. National Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.
Pallbearers were Bobby Rowden, Ronny Rowden, Vince Smith, Vaughn Smith, Rich Rowden and Victor Herzog.

Paul Summerhill
Paul Fenley Summerhill, 92, of Van Buren, died Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at a local hospital. He was born Nov. 7, 1910, in Texarkana, Texas. He was Air Force veteran of World War II where he spent most of his five-year tour on the South Pacific island of New Calcdonia. He retired from Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, after 30 years as an air craft inspector. He was a member of Van Buren First Assembly of God Church and Alma Senior Inn.
Survivors include his wife, Margorie; one daughter, Paula Thompson of Broken Arrow, Okla.; one son, David George Summerhill of Pettaluma, Calif.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alma Senior Inn.
