Frank O'Neil Wofford

Frank O'Neil Wofford, age 88, of Little Rock, died on February 3, 2005 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock. Mr. Wofford was born in Shamrock, Texas on January 14, 1917 to Mr. & Mrs. William Benjamin Wofford.

Mr. Wofford graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in agricultural economics. He was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his service as a Warrant Officer in the 104th Infantry of the U.S. Army during World War II.

Mr. Wofford was employed as county supervisor of Farmers Home Administration from 1939 to 1947 in Wheeler, TX. He was the owner of the Wheeler Drug Store from 1948 to 1961. He moved to Little Rock in 1961 where he held supervisory positions with the Small Business Administration. At the time of his retirement in 1983 he was a Business Management Officer. He received a national award, the Silver Star Medal for Meritorious Service to SBA, in 1983. Mr. Wofford was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. He was a Trustee and Deacon. He sang in the choir, served as chairman of the board, chairman of the Deacons, and on numerous committees. He was an official delegate to the Southern Baptist Convention in 1993. Mr. Wofford was a member of Scottish Rite and past Knight Commander of the Court of Honor, United Commercial Travelers, and Kiwanis International.

Mr. Wofford was predeceased by his parents, four brothers and one sister. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Neleta Hard Wofford. Other survivors are two daughters, Jane Porter and her husband Todd, of Irving, TX and Martha McFerron and her husband Steve, of Jonesboro, AR; a grandson, Matt W. McFerron of Philadelphia, PA; a granddaughter, Cary E. Porter of Bastrop, TX and three nephews.

Burial will be Monday, February 6, 2005 at Roselawn Cemetery followed by a Celebration of Frank's Life at Immanuel Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. Rex Horne officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Immanuel Baptist Church.

Visitation will be at Ruebel Funeral Home, 6313 W. Markham in Little Rock from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.

Memorials may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church Building Fund, 501 N. Shackleford, Little Rock, AR 72211, Scottish Rite Bodies, P.O. Box 2139, Little Rock, AR 72203, or to any charitable organization.

Richard Ellery "Dick" Woodmansee

Richard Ellery "Dick" Woodmansee age 93, of Little Rock, died Thursday, February 17, 2005. He was born in Kansas City, Missouri to the late Joseph Emmett and Blanche Lockridge Woodmansee.

After graduation from the University of Kansas, he began his business career working for the Richards and Conover Wholesale Hardware Company in Oklahoma City.

In 1947 he moved his family to Little Rock to join the Frank Lyon Company where he became Vice President of the wholesale furniture division.

Later he worked for Rye Wholesale in North Little Rock until his retirement in 1983.

Dick liked people and enjoyed helping them select their household furnishings. He was a forceful spokesperson for the wholesale industry.

In 1957-58 he served as President of the National Wholesale Furniture association having served as Vice-President for the four prior years.

Dick and wife Virginia were charter members of Westover Hills Presbyterian Church where he served as Deacon and Elder.

He also served on several community organizations such as Downtown Rotary Club '99, serving as President from 1980-81.

Dick is survived by his children; Dr. Susan Baker of Little Rock, and Reverend R. Scott Woodmansee and wife Priscilla of Davidson, North Carolina.

He is also survived by six grandchildren; Sunny Williams and husband Larry and daughter Roseanne of North Little Rock, Sandy Smith and husband Chuck and children Clayton and Addie of Little Rock, Ashley Breaux and her children Joey and Ginger of Bauxite, Arkansas, Erin Adelman and husband Scott and daughter Chloe of Fairfield, Connecticut, John Woodmansee and wife Julie and children Michaela and Arlo of Durham, North Carolina, and David Woodmansee and wife Cherie and their daughter Lila of Durham, North Carolina. Dick is preceded in death by his wife Virginia who died in 1994. Since then he has lived in his home and later with his daughter, Susan, with the help of faithful caregivers.

His family would like to express their gratitude to those who cared for him, especially Kay Wadley who has been with him for 8 years. He will be missed by all who were nurtured by his loving and supportive presence in their lives.

There will be a visitation Sunday from 3 to 5pm at the Ruebel Funeral Home. Monday there will be a burial at 9:30am at Forest Hills Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 11am at Westover Hills Presbyterian church officiated by Reverends James and Debbie Freeman. Services are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers memorials be sent to Westover Hills Presbyterian Church, the church of your choice or a service organization of your choosing.

Frances H. Allen

Frances H. Allen, 97, of Little Rock, died Thursday, March 10, 2005 at Baptist Medical Center. She was born in East St. Louis, Illinois on November 1, 1907 to the late Frank and Anna Louise Williams Hackmann.

She graduated from East St. Louis High School and later from Washington University in St. Louis with a BA Degree. She was a member of the Little Rock Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, the Lt. Samuel Cherry Chapter Daughters of the American Colonists, John Eliot Chapter Colonial Dames of XVIIth Century, a lifetime member of the American Association of University Women, the Women's City Club of Little Rock, Delta Kappa Gamma, Beta Iota Chapter, as well as other organizations. She was also a member of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral. During her career as a Social Worker at the Employment Securities Division, she was named Arkansas Woman of the Year in 1966 and Outstanding Alumna at Washington University in 1970.

She was preceded in death by her husband, A. Hall Allen, whom she marriage on October 13, 1936, her parents, four brothers, two sisters, and step-daughter, Bonnie Allen. She is survived by a brother, John S. Hackmann and wife Agnes; sisters, Alice Hackmann Miniutti, Lois Hackmann Snider and husband Max, Carol Hackmann, and Nora Rowland and husband Norman; and over a hundred nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

A visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 14, 2005 at Ruebel Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral officiated by the Very Reverend Henry Hudson. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.

Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Lt. Col. Stanley H. Casey

Lt. Col. Stanley H. Casey, age 87, of Little Rock died Sunday, March 20, 2005. He was born in Batesville, AR the only son of Ruth Handford and Earl Casey. He attended Stanton Military Academy. During World War II, he served in the US Army in Alaska and Europe. He was captured during the Battle of the Bulge and was held prisoner of war in Germany. He was awarded both the Silver and Bronze Stars for gallantry. Since then he has resided in Little Rock where he retired from the Veteran's Administration.

He is survived by his wife, Daphne; his three daughters, Shirley, Edith and Pamela. He was preceded in death by his son, Timothy.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM today, Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at the Arkansas State Veteran's Cemetery in North Little Rock. The family requests that in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to Pulaski County Humane Society.

Tillie Rose Hicks "Touchie" Bobo

Tillie Rose Hicks "Touchie" Bobo, of Little Rock, died Monday, March 28, 2005. She was born in Memphis to the late James Hunter and Ida Mae West Hicks. While Touchie was with her family in Houston she met and later marriage Cecil Strauss Bobo who died in 1987. She and Cecil moved to Little Rock in the '40s and she became a very active member of First United Methodist Church where she was a charter member of the Alter Guild, and a member of the Bethel Sunday School Class. Touchie's artistic ability of arranging flowers as well as dried flowers afforded her the opportunity to be in charge the placement of flowers at the Governor's Mansion during Governor Rockefeller's time in office. She was also a member of Herb Society of America and the Shadow Lawn Garden Club.

Touchie is survived by one daughter, Pat Bobo Booth of Little Rock, predeceased by a son Jim Bobo who died in 1998, a daughter-in-law Georgia Bobo of Little Rock, four grandchildren; James Bobo of Little Rock, Rosemary Booth Prather of Little Rock, John Allen Booth of Dallas, Julie Bobo Shisler of Seal Rock, Oregon, six great-grandchildren, and niece Ida Jane O'Dell.

There will be a visitation Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ruebel Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service Friday at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Little Rock, officiated by Reverend James Foster, and Reverend Jason Molitor. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.

Olene Bowling Childs

Olene Bowling Childs, of Little Rock, died Saturday, March 12, 2005 at Parkview Nursing and Rehab. She was born in Formosa, Arkansas to the late Joe and Sarah Ann Halbrook Bowling. She was a member of 6th and Izard Church of Christ.

Mrs. Childs was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Childs, and is survived by her twin sister, Arlene Stobaugh of Little Rock, and several nieces and nephews.

Private graveside services were held at Pinecrest Memorial Park officiated by John Gipson under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Evelyn C. Hess Davis

EVELYN C. HESS DAVIS of Little Rock passed away Thursday, March 10, 2005. She was born May 4, 1911 in Sterling, Illinois to the late Arthur and Nettie Hess (Jones). She graduated from Northern Illinois University with a teaching certificate in 1931 and taught in one-room school houses in Whiteside County in the 1930's until her marriage in 1939. She later returned to NIU to graduate with a BS in Education degree in 1968. She was retired from the Rock Falls School District where she had been an elementary teacher at Dillon School for a number of years. She moved to Little Rock in 1984.

She is predeceased by her parents, brothers Leo and John Hess, husband Ronald F. Davis and one son Philip A. Davis. She is survived by her sons George (Janine) Davis of Baltimore, Maryland, Fred (Bonnie) Davis of Clayton, Indiana, and Timothy (Marsha) Davis of Sterling, Illinois; daughters, Barbara Tranbarger of San Antonio, Texas, Lynette (Malcolm) Rice of Prairie View, Illinois, Sally Bair and Laurine (Ed) Williams of Little Rock, Arkansas, 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Special thanks to Arkansas Hospice and Dr. Delbra Caradine. Memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice or Pulaski County Humane Society. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Riverside Cemetery in Sterling, Illinois.

Cremation arrangements are by Ruebel Funeral Home.
