LEVADER JIMERSON

Funeral services for Levader Jimerson, 89, of Grand Bay, Ala., will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 6, 2004 at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home. The Rev. Rudy Davis will officiate. Burial will be at Smalley cemetery.

Jimerson, born Nov. 22, 1915 in Connell's Point to Earl Glassco and Mamie Freeman, died December 2, 2004 at her residence.

She was a former resident of West Helena for 45 years; he belonged to Second Baptist Church in West Helena, and retired from West Brothers Department Store in Helena.

She leaves to cherish her memories two daughters Jeanette Harvey and her husband Wade of Glenwood and Dorothy DeLoach and her husband Charles of Grand Bay, Ala.; one son Austin Jimerson and his wife Darlene of Grand Bay, Ala.; three sisters Gladys Dunavan of Montgomery, La., Estle Dickerson of Hernando, Miss., and Pansy Peete of West Helena, and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Preceding her in death was her husband Henry Jimerson.

Pallbearers will be Tracy Fortner, Leo Glassco, Jimmy Vaught, Joe Snyder, Jr., Zachary Bauber, and Charles DeLoach, Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Barry Spurger and Bill Tingle.

Roller Citizens Funeral Home will direct services.

ALMA TRAVIS

Graveside services for Alma Travis, 81, were held Sunday, Nov. 28 at Sunset Memorial in West Helena. Born March 1, 1923 to Sellers and Georgia Wooten in Pine Bluff, she was a homemaker, who died Saturday, Nov. 27.

She leaves two sons, Butch Travis and Robert "Peck" Travis, both of West Helena; two sisters, Mildred Romine of Little Rock and Jo Ann Hulse of Pine Bluff; a brother, Ray Wooten of Pine Bluff and Ray Wooten of Pine Bluff; three grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Her sons Butch and Peck officiated the services.

Roller-Citizens was in charge of the services.

BEATRICE COOK

Funeral services for Beatrice Snyder Cook "Aunt Bea, " 93, of West Helena will be held noon Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004 at Sunset Memorial Park. The Rev. Rudy Davis and the Rev. Rebecca Wiseman will officiate. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Roller Citizens Funeral Home.

Cook, who was born Feb. 3, 1911 in Maben to Wiley Melton Snyder and Isabel Morgan Bland, died Nov. 28, 2004 in Helena.

She was retired from Lowenstein's Department Store in Memphis and spent the last two years of her life at Crestpark Nursing Home.

She leaves to cherish her memory, three nieces, Kay Thomas of Poplar Grove and Doris Smith and Betty Moneymaker of West Helena; five nephews Wiley Snyder, Kenneth Snyder, and Billy Snyder of Lexa, Malloyd Moore of Connell's Point, and David Jones of Helena.

Preceding her in death were her parents Wiley and Isabel Snyder; nine brothers and sisters Romey, Herman, Ferman, Roy, Calvin, Lonnie, Embry Lee, Mary Bell Moore, and Pearl Jones.

Roller Citizens Funeral Home will direct services.

CLARENCE O. ALFORD

Clarence O. Alford, 66, died Oct. 16, 2004 in St. Louis, Mo.

Born Aug. 26, 1938 to Harvey Lucian Alford and the former Bertha Lee Sharp in Red Bay, Ala., he was a line worker for a canning factory.

He leaves four brothers, Vertis Alford of West Helena, Curtis Alford of Helena, Therman Alford of Calif. and Roland Alford of Cisbero, Ill.; and a sister, Aubra Dean Terry of Mountain Home.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 21 in the Roller-Citizens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Audie Richardson officiating.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. tonight at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Allen Newsom, Lenny Newsom, Ricky Roberts, Daniel King, Keith Alford and Curtis Alford Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Jeff Alford and A.W. Terry Jr.

SALLIE SAVELL

Funeral services for Sallie V. Savell, 95, of Melbourne were held Sunday, Nov. 21, 2004 at the Howard Funeral Home in Melbourne. Bro. Steve Stevenson officiated. Burial was in the Combs cemetery in Melbourne.

Savell, born Aug. 11, 1909 to Wyatt Pinkney and Nancy Isabella McAdams Atkins in Pea Ridge, Miss., died Nov. 18, 2004 at the Pioneer Nursing and Rehab in Melbourne.

She was a homemaker and member of the Baptist faith.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband William Douglas Savell; four sons William Jerry Savell, Larry Wayne Savell Sr., Lawrence Theodore Savell Sr. and Ralph Edward Savell; five brothers and four sisters.

Survivors include one daughter Sallie Louise Hill of Fayetteville; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; several nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Bob Kruel, H.B. Rodman, Rocky Campbell, Alvin Jeffery, Lloyd Jeffery and Rick Hoskins.

Honorary pallbearers were Sam Sharp, Jeff Mitchell, Richard Wallace, and Johnnie Neal.

Howard Funeral Home directed services.

IVA TURNER

Graveside services for Iva Turner, 93, of Lexa were at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004 at the Central cemetery.

Turner, born Sept. 18, 1911 at Lesley Franklin Molett and Elsie Mae Shaffner in Manila, died Nov. 19, 2004 in Helena.

She was a homemaker and divorced.

She leaves to cherish her memory four sons Harvey Turner and Johnny Turner of Barton, Eugene Turner of Lexa, and Jimmie Turner of Poplar Grove; one daughter Mary Ann Franklin of Purvis, Miss.; one sister Fannie Mae Ross of Gill; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Roller-Citizens Funeral Home directed services.

BETTY GAILEY

Funeral services for Betty Jean Gailey, 62, of West Helena, who passed away Oct. 16, 2004 at St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23 at the West Helena First Baptist Church.

Rev. Nathaniel Hull Sr. will officiate. Burial will be at Jackson Memorial Gardens in Lexa. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church.

Betty Jean Gailey was born Nov. 19, 1941 in Lambert, Miss. to Amanda Gailey and the late Wade Gailey Sr. She confessed hope in Christ at an early age and united with the First Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Nathaniel Hull Sr. She served faithfully as a choir member, usher, member of the Kitchen Committee, Willing Workers the Dorcas Committee, and a Sunday School teacher.

She was the owner of the Hours of Joy Daycare where she touched many lives and brought joy to every life she touched.

A sister, Miriam Gailey; her father, Wade Gailey Jr.; and two grandchildren, Breana Heard and Shakeyuia Melker, preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Debbie Hick and Pamela Barrow of West Helena; nine sons, Kenneth Askew of Atlanta, Ga., Calvin Pages of Robinsonville, Miss., Fred Barrow of Jonesboro, Andre Gailey of Pine Bluff, Anthony Wallace, Ronnie Wallace, Steven Sanders, Montoya Varner and Demarcus Barrow of West Helena; five brothers, George Gailey, Wade Gailey and Fletcher hear of Chicago, Larry Heard of West Helena, Michael Gailey of Pensacola, Fla.; three sisters, Delois Gailey and Sandra Gailey of West Helena, Doris Ann Nealy of Memphis; 25 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends.

Brown's Home for Funerals is in charge of the services.

SYDNEY COOPWOOD

Memorial services for Sydney Jannette Coopwood, 39, of Olive Branch, Miss., were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Coleman Funeral Home Chapel in Oxford, Miss.

Coopwood, who died Oct. 22, 2004 in Batesville, Miss., was a U.S Army veteran.

She leaves her husband Thomas Earl Coopwood of Olive Branch, Miss., three daughters Wendy Rouse of Athens, Ala., Dana Bailey and Debbie Bailey of Douglasville, Ga., her parents Larry Burke of West Helena and Ida Mae Andrews of Louisville, Ky., a sister, Robin Board of Louisville and a brother Jeff Burke of West Helena.

Coleman Funeral Home in Oxford, Miss., directed services.

BEATRICE WARREN

Funeral services for Beatrice Mayhew Warren, 81, of West Helena will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27 at the West Helena Baptist Church. The Rev. Dusty Rhodes will officiate. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. tonight at Roller Citizens Funeral Home.

Warren, born Dec. 9, 1922 in Hattieville to Henry Harrison Mayhew and Lela Mae Massingill, died Oct. 25, 2004 in her sleep from complications of Lou Gehrig Disease.

She was a legal secretary for Schieffler Law Firm, belonged to West Helena Baptist Church, and was a member of the W.M.A. and Joy group.

She leaves to cherish her memories her husband of 58 years Ralph Warren; one daughter, Anita Warren Brandon of Columbia, S.C.; one daughter-in-law, Jimmie Ruth Rogers of West Helena; three grandchildren, Christy Michelle Warren and Amy Elizabeth Brandon of Little Rock and Stephen Warren Brandon of Chattanooga, Tenn.

Preceding her in death was one son Michael Leon Warren.

Pallbearers will be W.A. Roger, Julian Treadway, Watson Light, Bob Farrah, Bill Andrews, Bob Anderson, Jim Boyd, and Bruce Ramey.

Memorials may be made to West Helena Baptist Church or the ALS Association in Memphis.

Roller Citizens Funeral Home will direct services.

JONATHAN FERGUSON

Jonathan Blakely Ferguson, 24, of Mountain View and formerly of West Helena died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2004. Born Feb. 22, 1980, he worked as a cook in a restaurant and was a member of the Barton Baptist Church.

He leaves his parents Charles and Willadean Ferguson of Mountain View; three brothers, Charles Ferguson of West Helena, Roger Darnell Jr. of Horn lake, Miss. and Logan Ferguson of Mountain View; a sister, Valerie Butler of North Fort Myers, Fla.; his grandparents, George and Jeanette Burney of West Helena; a dear friend, Mary King of West Helena; and an uncle and aunt, Louie and Laurie Smith of West Helena.

Rev. Ken Chaney and Rev. Al Major will officiate the services, which will be held at the Roller-Citizen Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Randy Dunigan, Joey Dunigan, David Dunigan, Ben Watkins, Mitchell Watkins and Skeet Gosa. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Wheeley, Jeremy Reynolds, Henry King and Jonathan Holland.
