Carmen Hendrix
Mrs. Carmen Cornish Hendrix, 92, of Antoine, died Wednesday, September 11, 2002, at Hillcrest Care and Rehab in Prescott.
She was born January 17, 1910, in Nathan to Sam Wiley and Gertrude Darling Cornish.
She was educated in Nathan Public Schools, Southern Ark. University, Magnolia, and Henderson State University, Arkadelphia.
She was united in marriage to Olen Hendrix on October 25, 1929.
She taught school in Pike County for 18 years and was lovingly called Miss Carmen by her many students. She was a wonderful homemaker, mother, grandmother, and faithful member of the Antoine Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Sen. Olen C. Hendrix; one son, Gerald Hendrix; one brother, Gilbert Cornish; one sister, Jewel Williamson; and one grandson, Scott Baldwin.
Her survivors include: two sons, James Hendrix and Adrienne, and Darwin Hendrix and Beth all of Antoine; one daughter, Annette Baldwin and Dr. Jack of Marshall, Texas; one daughter-in-law, Bobbie Hendrix of Antoine, two brothers, Carl Cornish of Nathan, and Henry and Inez of Antoine; 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Funeral services were 10 a.m., Saturday, September 14, 2002, at Antoine Church of Christ in Antoine, with Mr. Wallace Alexander and Mr. Gene Jester officiating.
Burial followed in Antoine cemetery. Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Olen and Carmen Hendrix fund, Harding University, P.O. Box 12238, Searcy, Arkansas 72149.

Ray Cottingham
Mr. Ray Cottingham, 32, of Prescott, died Wednesday, September 11, 2002, at his home.
He was born October 3, 1969, in Prescott, to Jackie Gene and Geneva Ann Thompson Cottingham.
He was an employee of the Arkansas State Highway Department. He was a member of Central Baptist Church of Prescott.
His survivors include: his parents, Jackie Gene and Geneva Ann Cottingham of Prescott; two brothers, Gene Cottingham of Newport and Dean Cottingham of Prescott; four sisters, Tammy Cottingham of Vilonia, Joyce Mason of Bodcaw, Jo Ann Johnson and Connie Cox both of Prescott.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Saturday, September 14, 2002 at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home Chapel in Prescott, with Rev. Neal Ridling officiating.
Burial was in Midway cemetery in Prescott. Arrangement by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.

Louise Lamb
Louise R. Lamb, 89, of Prescott, died Friday, September 13, 2002, at the Christus St. Michael Rehab Center in Texarkana.
Mrs. Lamb was born January 22, 1913, in Prescott to Isaac and Minnie Lee Alford Hunter. She was a housewife and a member of the Nazarene Church.
Cherishing her memory are: one daughter and son-in-law, Lee and Wei Joe of Shreveport; one sister, Hattie Sisson of Hope; one granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Mae and Damian Simoneaux of Lafayette, Louisiana; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Lamb and one granddaughter, Susan Rogers.
Services were Sunday, September 15, 2002 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of the Shackelford Funeral Home. Interment was at Mt. Moriah cemetery near Rosston.

Virginia Livingston
Virginia Ella Livingston, 75, of Prescott, departed her life September 16, 2002, at 8:50 a.m. in Alden Nelson Debes Medical Center after a long illness.
She resided in Rockford, Illinois for the past three years. She was born August 17, 1927 in Boughton. Parents are Allen and Ludia Wilson.
She was retired from Hudson's Foods and In Home Daycare Services for several neighborhood children.
She was a member of Faith Temple C.O.G.I.C. under the leadership of Elder Leroy Sworn, and former pastor Elder J.T. Gilmore. She served as a deaconess, choir president, president of senior citizen program, hospitality, coordinator of pastor's appreciation service and mother's board.
While residing in Rockford she was member of Brown's Temple C.O.G.I.C. under the leadership of Pastor Jesse Penix.
She was married to Walter Livingston, August 16, 1945, to this union seven children were born.
Survivors include her husband, Walter Livingston; three daughters, Geneva (Davis) Clanahan, Brenda (Stanley) Arnold, and Ludia Brigance all of Rockford, Ill.; three sons, Walter Livingston, Jr. of Rockford, Ill., Elder Vernon Livingston of Prescott, and Elder Frank (Teketa) Livingston of Rockford, Ill.; two sisters, Cloates Wilson of East St. Louis, Ill., and Louise Pate of Quanah, Tex.; one brother, Abraham Wilson of Long Beach, Calif.; special godchild, Daffney Flemons of Prescott, 14 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, three brothers, and three sisters.
Services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 22, 2002, at Prescott High School Auditorium, Martin Street, in Prescott, with Elder Frank Livingston eulogizing and Elder Leroy Sworn officiating. Viewing remains from 12:30-1:30 p.m.
Arrangements by Ruffin and Jarrett Funeral Home, 1200 Chester St., Little Rock.

Arvle Henderson Sr.
Arvle James Henderson, Sr., 80, of McNeil, died Wednesday, September 18, 2002, at St. Michael's Hospital in Texarkana, Texas after a short illness.
He was born September 27, 1921, in Stephens, to the late Charlie and Bessie Henderson. He was a World War II Army veteran and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a retired rig operator for Story Well Service, a member of New Hope Baptist Church and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 42 years, Nora Henderson; a daughter, Linda Marlar; brother, Ike Henderson; two sisters, Zelma Higdon and Beartice Osborn.
Survivors are his wife, Lorene Henderson of McNeil; two sons, Jimmy Henderson and wife Shelia of Branson, MO, Jerry Henderson and wife Nancy of Waldo; two daughters, Ashley Henderson of Magnolia, Rose Maples and husband Robert of Springhill, LA; two step-sons, Darrell Doss and wife Terry of Marshall, Texas, Bruce Doss and wife Ingrid of Waskom, Texas; one step-daughter, Pauline Cusick and husband Mike of Sweetwater, Tenn.; two granddaughters, Mandy Guidry and husband, Mo, of Magnolia, Tracy Sninor and husband Kelly Paul of McNeil; four grandsons, Marty Henderson and wife Denise of Emerson, Chris Triplet of Grand Prairie, Texas, Bobby Triplet of Bossier City, LA, Michael Henderson of Waldo; five great-grandchildren, Andy Guidry and wife Lisa, Roger and Heather Guidry all of Magnolia, Wyatt and Karolyn Henderson of Emerson; one great-great-grandson, Chase Guidry of Magnolia; two sisters, Jean Brigham of Stephens, Flossie Brigham of McNeil; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services were Saturday, September 21, 2002, at 2 p.m. at the New Hope Baptist Church, Bro. Junior Shackleford officiated. Burial was in New Hope cemetery under direction of Lewis Funeral Home.
Visitation was Friday, September 20, 2002, from 6-9 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were grandsons and nephews.

Daisy Bailey
Mrs. Daisy Lee Bailey, 85, of Prescott, died September 16, 2002, in the Medical Park Hospital.
She was born December 19, 1916, in Nevada County to Eula and Jerry Latin.
At an early age she accepted Christ as her personal savior and united with Clevet Springs Baptist Church in Falcon, where she remained a member until her marriage to Tilton Bailey of Rosston, on July 29, 1947. They established their new home in Rosston and she united with Harrison Chapel Baptist Church.
She was a graduate of Nevada County Training School and later employed in the Oak Grove School System in Rosston. On September 16, 2002, she was delivered into the arms God.
Daisy will be cherished in loving memory by her husband, Tilton Bailey; a son and daughter-in-law, Lee Tilton and Maude Bailey; three daughters, Ola Annie Pearl, and Darlene; two sisters, Elzadie Brewer and Stella Payne; two grandchildren, Jennifer and Lee Tilton, Jr.; three step-grandchildren, Michael, Teresa, and Mary; two great-grandchildren, Brianna and Javarus.
She was preceded in death by one daughter and one son, Daisy Helen and Jerry Allen; her parents; her brother, Raefield; her sister, Iola Berry; and her beloved Scooter. She also leaves behind a host of loving nieces, nephews, and other relatives, as well as numerous friends. She was an earnest Christian, a faithful and loving wife, and a kind and loving mother.
Funeral services were Saturday, September 21, 2002, at 11 a.m. at the Harrison Chapel Baptist Church in Rosston, with burial in the church cemetery, under the direction of Marks Funeral Home, Inc. officiating was Rev. J.W. McGraw.

Louis Smith
Mr. Louis Smith, 93, of Prescott, died Thursday, September 19, 2002, at Medical Park Hospital.
He was born on June 18, 1909, in Rosston to Milus and May Jane Purifoy Smith. He was a Methodist. He was retired from Potlatch and enjoyed raising hogs.
He was preceded in death by two sons, four brothers, and two sisters, and one step-daughter, Fannie Gulley Stevenson.
Survivors include, two daughters, Dorothy Smith Slay and Maurice of Rockford, Ill., and Jean Dixon and Leon of Detroit, Mich.; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services were 11 a.m., Monday, September 23, 2002, Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home Chapel, in Prescott, with Rev. Chester R. Fort officiating. Burial was in White Church cemetery in Rosston. Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.

Clara Cagle
Clara Ora Cagle, 82, of Fort Collins, Colorado, died Saturday, August 3, 2002, at Good Samaritan Village of Fort Collins.
She was born Clara Ora Baker on October 14, 1919, in Nevada County to Homer and Ella Jones Baker. She grew up in Prescott but moved to Little Rock, Arkansas after her marriage to Thomas Cagle. In 1949, she moved with her husband and two oldest children to Denver, Colorado.
She worked as daycare operator for 20 years and as a hostess for a bank for 20 years, retiring at the age of 75.
Her husband, Thomas Jackson Cagle, her daughter, Shirley Ann Staley, and two brothers, Homer Charles Baker, Jr. and Jimmy Joe Baker, and one sister, Karen Oleta Parks preceded her in death.
Survivors include: her son: Thomas J. Cagle Jr. and his wife, Janice of Golden, Colorado; two daughters; Katherine Reynolds and her husband Jeff; Karen Cagle-Smith and her husband Jim, both of Fort Collins, Colorado; one sister: Barbara Lynn Morrow and her husband Tommy of Nashville, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were at 1 p.m., Wednesday, August 7, 2002, at Highland Mortuary Chapel with burial in Highland cemetery, Thornton, Colorado.
Family and friends will miss her laughter, as well as her horticulture and culinary skills.

Martha Pounds
Martha Louise Pounds, 92 of Prescott, died Saturday, October 5, 2002, in the Hillcrest Care and Rehab of Prescott.
She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Prescott.
Mrs. Pounds was born on June 19, 1910, in Bolinger, Louisiana to Johnathan Walter and Carrie Allen Williams.
She is survived by one daughter, Bobbie Abington of Little Rock; one daughter-in-law, Ann Pounds of Prescott; four grandchildren, Mark and Helen Abington, Lori Abinton, Allison and Jim Mark Ingram, and Jami Pounds; six great-grandchildren, Devin Abington, Ariana Abington, Austin Ingram, Alex Ingram, Andrew Ingram, and Ashley Ingram.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Pounds and her son, Jim Pounds.
Funeral services were Monday, October 7, at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Prescott, with Jim Lenderman officiating.
Burial was in the Rest Haven Memorial Garden cemetery under the direction of the Shackelford Funeral Home of Prescott.
