J. T. Brison

J. T. Brison, 71, of Hartman died Friday, Jan. 14, 2005, at Sparks Regional Medical Center in Fort Smith.

He was a son of the late Andy and Hattie Willis Brison, U. S. Forestry employee, Baptist, and was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Brison; one daughter, Patricia Brison; one sister, Lorene Jones; and one great-grandson, Colton Krumdick.

He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Donald Scarberry and Brenda and Mark Drum, all of Hartman, and Loretta and Jeff Whitson of Zimmerman, Minn.; one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Lisa Brison of Coal Hill; one brother-in-law, Lee Hill of Fort Smith; ten grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 17, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Leo Villines and Eugene Scarberry officiating. Burial was in Liberty Hill cemetery at Hunt.

Active pallbearers were Larry Huff, Hoyt Knight, Charles Jones, Bob Lightner, Harley Parker, and Carl Collins.

Honorary pallbearers were Mouse Holland, L. D. Holland, Don Davidson, David Davidson, Glen Drum, Don Garrett, and Howard Halmes.

J. T. Crotts

J. T. Crotts, 69, of Lamar died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005, at Clarksville Convalescent Home.

He was born at Lamar, son of the late Walter Vincent and Eunice Beatrice Evans Crotts, retired construction employee, and was preceded in death by twin son and daughter, Jason Todd Crotts and Kyan Dawn Crotts.

He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Kelia and Pete Moore of Lamar; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Tanif and Christina Crotts of Clarksville and James Douglas Crotts of Idaho Falls, Idaho; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bill Holt officiating. Burial was in Lamar cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Bill Sams, Michael Dodge, Eddie Thomas, Jeremy Moore, Donald Track, James Lemons, and Don Wilhelm.

Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Killough, Jimmy Crotts, Jeffery Moore, Gregory Moore, Kasey Moore, Kristian Moore, Kyan Moore, Haley Crotts, Sadi Crotts, Kennon Crotts, Kaden Crotts, and Alexander Moore.

Kathleen A. Warren

Kathleen Adair Warren, 76, of Ozone died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005, at her home.

She was a member of Ozone Baptist Church, daughter of the late Henry and Elsie Montgomery Adair, widow of Lee Warren, and was preceded in death by three brothers, Arther, Richard and Dale Adair.

She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Mickie and Bob Hency and Janie and Bob Wheeler, all of Ozone, and Betty and J. C. Wheeler of Clarksville; one son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Sue Warren of Fort Smith; one sister, Marie Beth Redding of Mariposa, Calif.; one brother, Henry Adair of Portland, Ore.; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, at Ozone Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Herod officiating.

Burial was in Russell cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers were Roger Ost, Tony Havener, Derek Killane, Jason Pattermann, Donnie Underwood and Carl Wheeler.

Honorary pallbearers were Slade Dillard, Don Graves, Robert Hency, J. C. Wheeler, Jordan Pattermann, Joshua Warren, Michael Warren, Robert Wheeler and C. J. Wheeler.

Neta Faye Taylor

Neta Faye Essman Taylor, 95, of Charleston, mother of William Taylor of Clarksville, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2005, in Charleston.

A native of Cavanaugh, she was a daughter of the late William Clarence and Sarah Allie Rainwater Essman, widow of Elmer Ralph Taylor, and was preceded in death by six children, Jimmy Ray, James Bradley, John Mark, Jerry, Sally Ann Taylor and Corina Sue Freeman; one grandson, Micah Taylor; one brother, James Bradley Essman; and three sisters, Dorothy Jelks, Billie Hatfield and Ima Jean.

Survivors include one daughter, Solda Fraum of Lenexa, Kan.; one other son, Larry Taylor of Chickamauga, Ga.; one sister, Alice Flick of Rochester, N. Y.; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10, at Smith Mortuary Chapel in Charleston with burial at Mount Hope cemetery north of Charleston.

Memorials may be made to Greenhurst Inc., Memorial Fund, Charleston, AR 72933.

Quintin Dale Cowell

Quintin Dale Cogburn Cowell, infant son of Jason John and Amy Cogburn Cowell of Mena, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005, in Mena.

Other survivors include paternal grandparents, John and Lynn Cowell and Harold and Cindy Geels, all of Lamar; maternal grandparents, Loretta and Dale Cogburn of Mena; paternal great-grandparents, David and Berniece Higby of Lamar and Florence Clayborn of Clarksville; maternal great-grandmother, Wanda Cogburn of Mena; maternal great-great-grandfather, Rooster Cogburn of Shady; several aunts including Alisha Burr and Audra Cogburn, both of Mena; and several uncles and cousins.

Graveside services and burial were at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 16, at Shady cemetery with Rev. Dardanelle Townsley officiating.

Wally A. Peterson

Wally A. Peterson, 60, of Ozone died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.

He was a native of Mason City, Iowa, member of Carpenter Local Union No. 1836 and son of the late Harold A. Peterson.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years Betty Peterson; three stepdaughters, Sherry Hammon and husband, John, of Oark, Pam White of Arizona, and Kim Garrison of Lamar; one stepson, Garry Garrison and wife, Dianne, of Lamar; mother and stepfather, Gwendolyn and Gerald Peterson of Iowa; one half-sister, Jeralyn Smith and husband, Tom, of Iowa; three half-brothers, Jeff Peterson of Texas and Jerry Peterson and Jimmy Peterson, both of Iowa; nine step-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 21, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Herb Swanson officiating. Burial will be in Lamar cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Bert Hammons, Coy Hammons, Johnny Hammon, Gary Lynn Garrison, Justin White and Phil Maag.

Honorary pallbearers will be Glenn Garrison, Larry Montgomery, Junior Young, Tony Proctor, Will Martin, Donny Marvel, Steven Cross, John Hammon, and members of Carpenter Local Union No. 1836.

Vannie V. Harmon

Vannie V. Harmon, 102, of Lamar died Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, at her home.

She was a retired farmer and restaurant owner, Baptist, daughter of the late Hampton and Birtie Corn Voss, widow of Ambrose Henry Harmon, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Violet Edna Mae Griffith; two grandchildren, Earlene Sisk and Terry Brown; one great-grandchild, Wade Shiflett; two sisters; and three brothers.

She is survived by four daughters, Treiba Steuart of Clear Lake, Calif., Nellie Ann Ruhl and Guelda Kathleen Brown of Lamar, and Bertie Evelyn Ashlock of Tulsa, Okla.; seven grandchildren, Paula Jean Shiflett, Mary Ann Martin, Connie Gail Ruhl, David Griffith, Ann Griffith, Eric Ashlock, and April Brickhouse; three great-grandchildren, Warren Shiflett, Valarie Lynn Steuart, and Roberta Lea Martin; three great-great-grandchildren, Kevin Shiflett, Kayla Shiflett and Callahan Steuart; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral was at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Clyde Vire officiating. Burial was in Holman cemetery.

Pallbearers were Mike Jacobs, Dr. Joe Dunaway, Dr. Scott Kuykendall, Harvey Waters, Ronnie Zachary, Terry Cromer, Chadd Cromer, Bobby Martin, Wilson Pearson, John Brickhouse, and Eric Ashlock.

Velma A. Lightfoot

Velma A. Lightfoot, 85, of Leona, Texas, died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004, at her home.

She was a former resident of Clarksville prior to moving to Leona, Texas in 1998, a native of Council Grove, Kan., daughter of the late Raleigh and Jessie Heidel, widow of Albert Lightfoot, member of the First Baptist Church in Centerville, Texas, and a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star in Arkansas, California and Texas.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, George Heidel, Everett Heidel, Herbert Heidel and Carl Heidel; two sisters, Myrle Normandin and Lucy Feicht Adams; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Chase and Kathleen Chase; and one son-in-law, Kenny Chase.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Albert (Rose) Lightfoot Jr. of Burleson, Tenn.; one daughter, Jean Chase of Leona, Texas; one sister, Dorothy Mansfield of Utah; three granddaughters, Jeanie Cooper and husband, Charles, of Houston, Texas, Lynn Lightfoot of Las Vegas, Nev., and Judy Lightfoot of Henderson, Ariz.; two grandsons, Jim Chase of Houston, Texas, and Michael Chase of Leona, Texas; and one great-grandson, Justin Lightfoot of Las Vegas, Nev.

Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, at the First Baptist Church in Centerville, Texas, with Rev. Larry Ashley, pastor, officiating. Burial was Tuesday, Dec. 21, at the Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, Calif. Arrangements were under the direction of Walters Funeral Home in Centerville, Texas.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, P. O. Box 609, Centerville, TX 75833, the Leona Volunteer Fire Department in Leona, Texas, or the charity of the donor's choice.
