Dean Alan Wimp
Dean Alan Wimp, 47, a Major in the U. S. Air Force Reserves, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 1999, in Loma Linda, Calif.
He attended the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1976, and served as president of the Yamma-Yamma Club. He was a native of Chicago, Ill., former resident of Monmouth, Ill., son of the late Dr. Harold F. Wimp, and a member of Bible Fellowship Church in Hemet, Calif.
He served in the Desert Shield and Desert Storm in the 1990s. He was currently the logistics officers in the U. S. Air Force Reserves with the 701st Combat Operations Squadron at March AFB in California. He was a lifetime member of the Reserve Officers Association where he served as a past president and board member.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Donna L. Wimp; one daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Kevin Gee of Seattle, Wash.; one son, Gregory Wimp of Corralitos, Calif.; mother, Mrs. Wilardean Wimp of Denver, Colo.; two sisters, Gail Arthur and Marcie Wimp, both of Littleton, Colo.; one brother, Gary Wimp of Los Altos, Calif.; six nephews; and four nieces.
Graveside services and burial were at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, at Riverside National cemetery followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m. at the Bible Fellowship Church in Hemet, Calif. Arrangenents were under the direction of Acheson and Graham Garden of Prayer Mortuary in Riverside, Calif.

Dwight Yow
Dwight Yow, 94, of Russellville, father of Ruth M. Grace of Lamar, died Sunday, Jan. 17, 1999, at AMI St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville.
He was a native of Scottsville, son of the late R. L. and Maggie Susan Roland Yow, former resident of Dover, retired farmer, member of the Assembly of God Church, and was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Hankins Yow.
He is survived by one other daughter, Audra Lucille Perea of Dover; three sisters, Dora Wells and Hallie Holmes, both of Russellville, and Georgia Brown of Dover; eight grandchildren, George McGee, Bonnie Bachus, Mary Grace, Wade Grace, Donald Grace, Gary Grace, and Kenneth Grace; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, at the Pleasant Grove Assembly of God Church.
Burial will be in Rushing cemetery at Dover under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service of Russellville.
Rev. John Walbe
Rev. John Walbe, 82, died at Abbey Health Center in Subiaco.
He was born Benedict Walbe, son of Aloys and Catherine Schlaf Walbe, in Morrison Bluff. He graduated from Subiaco Academy in 1938 and entered the Abbey novitiate that same year. At his profession of vows on Sept. 16, 1939, he took the religious name of John. Father John was ordained to the priesthood in 1944 by Bishop Albert L. Fletcher at Saint Andrew Cathedral in Little Rock.
Father John was an instructor at Subiaco Academy for the 1944-45 school term and from 1945-50 served as assistant pastor of Sacred Heart Church in Muenster, Texas, before becoming a three-year faculty member of Corpus Christi College in Corpus Christi, Texas. From 1953-92 Father John was pastor of seven different parishes in Texas and Arkansas served by the Abbey and his pastorship included St. Scholastica at Shoal Creek, St. Mary's at Altus; St. Boniface at Fort Smith; and St. Benedict at Subiaco. He was also twice assistant pastor at St. Edward in Little Rock. Father John was pastor in Texas of St. Joseph in Rhineland, where he built a school and church rectory, St. Peter in Lindsay and St. Mary in Fort Worth. He retired from parish ministry in 1992 but continued to substitute at nearby parishes as needed. He began residency in 1998 in the Abbey Health Center where he served as chaplain.
He is survived by one sister, Sister Elaine Walbe of the Benedictine Sisters of Fort Smith; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Christian Wake service was held at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, and the Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, in Saint Benedict Church at Subiaco. Interment was in the Abbey cemetery under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
Mrs. Mary E. Bates
Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Bates, 69, of Lamar died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a daughter of the late John Franklin and Gergianna Tilley Miller, widow of Ross Eugene Bates, member of the Cabin Creek Baptist Church, certified dietary dietician at Clarksville Convalescent Home, nurse's aide and former employee of Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Lajune and David Lampkin of Longview, Texas, Anita and Lawrence Mooney of Knoxville, and Betty Mize of Lamar; three sons and daughters-in-law,
Larry and Shirley Bates and Mike and Regina Bates, all of Lamar, and Roger and Jettie Bates of Dover; one sister, Ella Jones of Cresent, Okla.; three brothers, Ray Miller, Travis Miller, and Loyd Dean Miller, all of Lamar; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 18, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Herb Tilley and Rev. Travis Miller officiating. Burial was in Holman cemetery.
Pallbearers were Frank Jones, Bo Miller, Jerry Miller, Billy Miller,
Terry Miller, and Brian Rose.
Mrs. Myrtle M. Williams
Mrs. Myrtle Mae Williams, 97, of Clarksville died Monday, Jan. 18, 1999, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.
She was a native of the Harmony Community, daughter of the late W. Gaston and Clemmie Mauldin Watson, widow of Everett Williams, and member of the First United Methodist Church and the Extension homemakers club for several years. She was preceded in death by one son, Robert Hall (Spurlie) Williams; two daughters, Evelyn Kemp and Jean Kilcrease; one grandson, Keith Kilcrease; and one great=grandson, Bruce Bunch.
She is survived by one daughter, Kathryn Baskin of Clarksville; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, at the First United Methodist Church in Clarksville with Rev. Lowell Eaton officiating.
Burial will be in Oakland cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Mrs. Ocie Dixon
Mrs. Ocie Dixon, 91, of Scranton died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999, in Clarksville.
She was a member of the Assembly of God Church and daughter of the late Oscar J. and Cordelia Lemons Needham.
Survivors include her husband, Arch Dixon; three daughters, Velva Dean Denton of Clarksville, Colene Snow of Little Rock, and Betty Huber of Subiaco; two sons, Arch (Bud) Dixon Jr. of Hartman and Harold Dixon of Clarksville; one sister, Laverne Henderson of Little Rock; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 18, at Dublin Freewill Baptist Church.
Burial was in Wares Chapel cemetery at Dublin under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
Pallbearers were grandsons, Richard Doshier, Bryon Essary, Steve Lux, Frank Fiorello, Bobby Walls, and Dub Hamilton.
Mrs. Sylvia Behrns
Mrs. Sylvia F. Terrell Behrns, 96, aunt of Ruth Willis of Clarksville, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, at the Downs Nursing Center in Downs, Kan.
She was a native of Fort Madison, Iowa, daughter of the late Robert and Nancy Ida Lyon Terrell, widow of Fred Behrns, attended Liberty Country School in Iowa, and graduated in 1923 from Hays, Kan. She retired in 1976 after having been employed by Smith Center Hospital, Dolly Hardman Home, Cozy Nursing Home, Dr. J. E. Hodgson Clinic in Lipton Hotel and for Dr. Alfred Nystrom and Dr. John C. Cornely in Cawker City, Kan. She was a member of the Downs Seventh Day Adventist Church and was a Noble Grand in the Rebekah Lodge where she became a member at the age of 18 years.
She is survived by numerous other nieces and nephews.
Funeral was at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 15, at the Domoney Funeral Home in Downs, Kan., with Dave Ritter officiating. Burial was in Downs cemetery.

Mrs. Beulah Hardgrave
Mrs. Beulah Emily Hardgrave, 95, of Bastrop, La., died Thursday, Jan. 21, 1999.
She was a native of Clarksville but had lived in Bastrop, La., for 55 years and was preceded in death by her husband, Howell Hardgrave, and a granddaughter, Janie Turner Bowman.
Survivors include one daughter, Wilma Turner of Bastrop, La.; one son, Wayne Hardgrave of Bastrop, La.; five sisters, Realon Bean, Estelle Stutts, and Leoma Atkins, all of Clarksville, Mae Storts of Tahlequah, Okla., and Pauline Goebel of Chula Vista, Calif.; two granddaughters, Kathy Jones of Pineville, La., and Rebecca Boyter of Keithville, La.; eight great-grandchildren, Lisa Stewart and Jeff Turner, both of Bastrop, La., Seth Jones, Chris Jones, and Morgan Claire Jones, all of Pineville, La., Jennifer Bowman of Kenai, Alaska, and Jacquelyn Boyter and Justin Boyter, both of Keithville, La.; and one great-great-grandson, Worth Stewart of Bastrop, La.
Funeral was at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, at Golden Funeral Home Chapel in Bastrop, La., with burial in Memorial Park cemetery.
Pallbearers were W. L. Hopkins, James Boyter, Justin Boyter, Marty Jones, Chris Jones, and Jeff Turner.
