Charles Henry Brown
Charles Henry Brown, 74, of Lamar died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2001, at his home.
A native of Audubon, Iowa, he was a son of the late William Price and Wilamena Rosetta Zeal Brown, retired Johnson County Road Department road grader, served in the U. S. Air Force and Marines during World War II and the Korean War, and was a member of the Clarksville VFW.
Survivors are his widow, Darlene Brown; three daughters and sons-in-law, Kim and Chuck Pickard of Rogers, Susan and Eddie Richards of Clarksville, and Brandy and Jim Lyons of Clovis, N. M.; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Bill and Debbie Brown of Bayfield, Colo., Kevin Brown of Clarksville, and Cody Brown of Lamar; three sisters, Edith Plowman of Durango, Colo., Nancy Boyet of Bayfield, Colo., and Betty Rupe of Bloomfield, Iowa; two brothers, Larry Brown of Bloomfield, Iowa, and Norman Brown of Ottumwa, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The body was cremated.
Local arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Clara L. Fowler
Clara L. Fowler, 62, of Hartman died Monday, Aug. 13, 2001, at the University of Arkansas Medical Science Hospital in Little Rock.
She was a native of Vinton, La., graduate of Vinton High School, and former electrician with the Cincinnati Milicron Aero Space Industry.
She is survived by one daughter, Kayla Fowler of Hartman; two sons, Michael Fowler of Hartman and Steven Fowler of Double Springs, Ala.; mother, Amy Tharp of Vinton, La.; three sisters, twin, Laura Lee Garcia of Fairmont, Texas, Walterine Tharp of Newton, Texas, and Emilie Stewart of Winnsboro, La.; and three granddaughters, Kristi Fowler of Lamar, Brandi Fowler of Alabama, and Deanna Crawford of Columbus, Ohio.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Chris Rink officiating. Burial will be in West Mount Zion cemetery.
David B. Noyes
David Bernell Noyes, 53, of Lamar died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2001, at his home.
He was a truck driver, Baptist, son of the late Estel B. Noyes, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon Noyes; and one brother, Darrell Noyes.
Survivors include four daughters, Tracy Bauman of Clarksville, Patty Riddell of Lamar, Melissa Courtwright of Atkins, and Karen Patterson of Mulberry; one son, David (Bubba) Noyes of Lamar; mother, Mary Lillian Miller of Coal Hill; three sisters, Kathryn Parker of Flat Rock, Mary Noyes of Coal Hill, and Emily Davis of Ozark; three brothers, Steve Noyes of Alix, Mark Noyes of Texas, and Michael Noyes of Missouri; ten grandchildren; and two special friends, Doris Wooten and Cody Gibbons, both of Lamar.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Bob Freeman and Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Burial was in East Point cemetery at London.
Active pallbearers were Larry Hardcastle, Jim Elms, Paul Ray Parker, Darren Parker, Anthony Davis, and Jeff Noyes.
George Russell Crowder
George Russell Crowder, 89, of North Little Rock, formerly of Lamar, died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2001.
He was a World War II and Korean War U. S. Navy veteran and a retired welder and sheet metal employee with Arkansas Foundry.
Survivors include his widow, Iva Crowder; two sons and daughters-in-law, George and Clara Crowder of Sherwood and Ed and Betty Crowder of Lamar; one daughter and son-in-law, Cathie and Mike Seibold of Plano, Texas; two sisters, Catherine Morrison and Ella Mae Carlton, both of Lamar; ten grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10, at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Sewell officiating followed by military graveside services and burial at 1:30 p.m. at the Lamar cemetery.

Lee Roy Carey
Lee Roy Carey, 72, of Booneville, father of Elsa Lewis of Clarksville, died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2001, in a Fort Smith hospital.
Other survivors include his widow, Lena Mae Carey; one son, Joe Carey of Booneville; one sister, Jane Marie Hindman of Sylvester, Texas; two brothers, James Carey of Booneville and Jerry Glen Carey of New Mexico; and one grandson, Clint Carey.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at Roberts Memorial Chapel in Booneville with burial in Bluff View cemetery at Magazine.
Pallbearers were Clint Carey, Roy Carey Sr., Delbert Carey, Nick Brink, Roy Carey Jr., and Tommy Anderson.
Scott Sullivan
Scott Sullivan, 36, of Clarksville died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2001, at his home.
He was a native of Bakersfield, Calif., former employee of Mid-South Roller Company and was preceded in death by his mother, Carol Cagle.
Survivors include his widow, Tina Sullivan; one daughter, Stephine Sullivan of Bakersfield, Calif.; one son, Joshua Scott Sullivan of Clarksville; father and stepmother, Jerry and Sue Sullivan of Bakersfield, Calif.; three sisters, Becky Silvis, Tandra Grace, and Lisa Sullivan, all of Bakersfield, Calif.; one brother, Jeff Blanton of Bakersfield, Calif.; and grandparents, Cecil and Frances Hill and Dora Hivley, all of Bakersfield, Calif.
Graveside services and burial were at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 13, at West Mount Zion cemetery with Rev. Burnett King officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Argie Ann Green
Argie Ann Lee Green, 96, of Ozark died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, at Ozark Nursing Home.
A native of Johnson County, she was a daughter of the late James Riley and Nancy Shamblin Lee, co-owner of Roy Green General Merchandise Store, and a 75-year member of Grenade's Chapel Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Katala Green Williams of Ozark and Roiselle Green Grim of Rogers; one sister, Robbie Lee Floyd Dillahunty of Ozark; four grandchildren, Anitra Williams Fay of Fort Smith, Russell Williams of San Diego, Calif., and Lynn Grim Kenworthy and Elise Grim Burt, both of Fayetteville; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Vaughn Marsden officiating. Burial was in Highland cemetery at Ozark.
Bertha Ellen Elms
Bertha Ellen Elms, 96, of Clarksville died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a daughter of the late William and Mary Boen Warren, widow of Floyd Elms, Protestant, and was preceded in death by three sisters, Rosie Hammons, May Barber and Maud Smith; and two brothers, Jim Warren and Bill Warren.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Ray and Allene Smith of Porum, Okla., and Jerry and Helen Elms and Roy and Betty Smith, all of Hartman; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Burial was in Lamar cemetery.
Pallbearers were Vaughnon Freeman, Leland Freeman, Junior Warren, J. T. Barber, Terry Miller, Jim Elms, Tony Warren, Gary Warren, and Randy Warren.
Dr. Harold Eggensperger
Funeral for Dr. Harold O. Eggensperger, 88, of Fort Smith, who died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, at St. Edward Mercy Medical Center, was at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, at the First United Methodist Church in Fort Smith. Graveside services and burial were at 2:30 p.m. at Oakland cemetery in Clarksville.
Grandsons served as active pallbearers. The honorary pallbearers were ministers of the North Arkansas and Little Rock Conferences of the United Methodist Church.
Memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church Student Ministries in Fayetteville or the First United Methodist Church in Fort Smith.
A native of Hanska, Minn., Dr. Eggensperger was a son of the late Adolph and Dora Schneuer Eggensperger, moved to Arkansas with his family in 1925, received a bachelor of arts degree from Hendrix College in 1937, a bachelor of divinity degree from Southern Methodist University in 1940, and was awarded an honorary doctor of philosophy degree from Hendrix College in 1960.
He was ordained as a minister of the North Arkansas Conference of the United Methodist Church in 1937, and served churches in Blytheville, Little Rock, Beebe, Bentonville, West Memphis, Russellville, Fayetteville, Conway, Siloam Springs, and Fort Smith. He also served as district superintendent of the Conway District and as executive secretary of the North Arkansas Program Council. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rela Young Eggensperger.
Survivors include his widow, Katherine Fiser Eggensperger; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Steve and Tami Eggensperger of Cabot and Mil Adams of Conway; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Frances Gibson Benton of Fayetteville, Pat and Ron Armbrust of Fayetteville, and Kathy and Steve Meyer of Prairie Grove; one brother, Arlo Eggensperger of Fort Smith; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
