Stella Mae Guinn

Stella Mae Elder Guinn, 87, of Littleton, N. C., formerly of Clarksville, died Wednesday, July 4, 2001, at Roanoke Rapids, N. C.
She was a member of Hays Chapel Methodist Church, retired Young's Department Store employee, daughter of the late Andrew Jackson and Pollie Elder, and widow of Orville F. Guinn.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Arlie and Oneita Guinn of Littleton, N. C.; and two grandchildren, Gary Guinn of Virginia and Mary Weber of Maryland.
Funeral was at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 9, at Hays Chapel Methodist Church with Rev. Chris Rink officiating.
Burial was in Oakland cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Spike Feikema, Virgil Phillips, J. D. Jacobs, Argie Kendall, Bob McGuire, Ron Reeves, and Benny Ross.

Victor Ahne

Victor Ahne, 55, of Scranton died Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at Scranton.
He was a son of the late Frank Ahne, veteran of the United States Navy, employee of ATandT, and a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church at Scranton and the American Legion Post 0258.
He is survived by one daughter, Helen James of Subiaco; three sons, Steven Ahne and Matthew Ahne, both of Scranton, and Anthony Ahne of McEwen, Tenn.; mother, Margaret Ahne of Scranton; four sisters, Charlotte Waits of Wichita, Kan., Mary Griesemer of Ballwin, Mo., Margie Spillers of Scranton, and Rita Brown of Benton; four brothers, Ed Ahne and Eric Ahne, both of Scranton, David Ahne of Little Rock, and Frank Ahne Jr. of Conway; and six grandchildren.
Rosary was at 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 6, at Roller Chapel in Paris. Funeral mass was at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 7, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church.
Pallbearers were Heath Spillers, James Schwartz, Joe Hebert, Chris Ahne, Kevin Barr, and Jim Ahne.
Memorials may be made to the Logan County Health Department, Hospice Program, or the American Cancer Research Center.

Samuel E. Noe

Samuel E. (S. E.) Noe, 76, of Spanaway, Wash., died Wednesday, July 4, 2001, at his home.
He resided in Johnson County until 1942, when he entered the U. S. Coast Guard where he served in the Pacific during World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sampson and Norma J. Pitts Noe; and three sisters, Alma Harris, Molly Young, and Nadean Reynvaan.
Survivors include his widow, Delorce Noe; three daughters, Pat and Linda of Spanaway, Wash., and Pam of Idaho; and three sisters, Imogean Storms of Clarksville, and Nita Brown and Nola Lewis of Tacoma, Wash.
Memorial services were held at the Baptist Church in Spanaway, Wash., with interment in the National cemetery in Enumclaw, Wash.

David Lee Delp

David Lee Delp, 57, of Coal Hill died Friday, June 29, 2001, at his home.
A native of Temple, Pa., he was a son of the late Russell Delp, and a Vietnam Air Force veteran.
Survivors include his widow, Justine Martin Delp; one daughter, Justine Marie Burkhart of Temple, Pa.; two sons, Darren Delp of Temple, Pa., and Jeremy Lee Martin Delp of Steubenville, Ohio; mother, Amelia Delp of Temple, Pa.; and one sister, Sue Carol Delp of Temple, Pa.
Funeral and burial will be in Temple, Pa.
Local arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Edward Basham

Edward Basham, 91, of Clarksville died Saturday, June 30, 2001, in Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Clarksville, son of the late John Mahlon and Mamie Edwards Basham, graduate of Clarksville High School and The College of the Ozarks, track star and held several track records both in high school and college, Army Air Corps veteran of World War II where he served in the South Pacific, member of First Presbyterian Church, and a retired peach grower and carpenter.
He is survived by three nephews, Stuart Basham of Piedmont, Okla., and Richard Basham and Carey Basham, both of Houston, Texas; three nieces, Suzanne Coots and Elizabeth Gooch, both of Houston, Texas, and Sara Miller of Fort Smith; and ten great-nephews and great-nieces.
Funeral was at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Lance Jones officiating.
Burial was in Oakland cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, P. O. Box 1068, Clarksville, AR 72830.

Fleda M. Moore

Fleda M. Moore, 79, of Clarksville died Wednesday, June 27, 2001, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a daughter of the late Ruben (Ralph) and Mary Elizabeth McCleary Hirtler, widow of Max Edward Moore, and was preceded in death by four sisters, Juanita Wheeler, Agnes Gutherie, Eunita Denton, and Sophia Phillips; and two brothers, Raymond Wheeler and James (Jimmy) Hirtler.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Sarah Elizabeth and Fred Colvett of Clarksville and Sandra Lee and Isaac Snowman of Hartman; two sisters, Mary Margaret (Polly) Key of Lamar and Alice Crabtree of Clarksville; two brothers, Archie Wheeler of Conway and Jackie Hirtler of Jena, La.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial were at 2:30 p.m. Friday, June 29, at the National cemetery in Fort Smith with Jan Colvett officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Mitchell C. Baxter

Mitchell Collins Baxter, 93, of Coal Hill died Friday, June 29, 2001, at Lamar.
He was a retired timber employee, son of the late Columbus Augustus and Fanny Edgmon Baxter, and was preceded in death by his wife, Nora Mae Bailey Baxter; three sons, Mitchell Collins Baxter Jr., Nolas Vernon Baxter, and Dorlen Gene Baxter; one sister, Mildred Lankford; one brother, Nolas William Baxter; and one half-brother, Harold Barnes.
Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Betty Jo and Mac MacFadden of Hunt and Virginia Henson of Clarksville; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Dean and Charlene Baxter of Coal Hill, Jack and Debbie Baxter of Ozone, Lewis Baxter of Burley, Idaho, and Dorvan (Butch) and Cheryl Baxter of Lamar; one half-sister, Opal Tolbert of Clarksville; three half-brothers, Thurman Barnes of Sand Springs, Okla., Charlie Barnes of Hartford, Mo., Lyford Barnes of Phoenix, Ariz., 26 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Burial was in Cassville cemetery at Fallsville.
Active pallbearers were Victor Gerleman, Donnie Grigsby, Willie Baxter, Mitchell Baxter, Ronnie Bohannon, and Butch Grigsby.
Honorary pallbearers were grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and Jerry Bohannon, Don Higby, Shane Ralls, Robbie Ralls, Lonnie Bohannon, Alan Mize, and Chris Baxter.

Marjorie D. Engbretson

A memorial service for Marjorie Dean Engbretson, 73, who died Monday, June 25, 2001, at Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital, was held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 29, at Madison Lutheran Church in Ridgeway, Iowa, with Pastors Phillip and Ginny Olson officiating. Burial was at Madison cemetery under the direction of French and Balik Funeral Home of Decorah, Iowa.
Pallbearers were Kenneth Engbretson, Richard Engbretson, Robert Engbretson, Virgil Kellison, Ted Kjosa, Dean Larson, Dennis Larson, Marvin Vick, and Dean Witzke.
A native of Clarksville, she was a daughter of the late Denver Houston, attended Clarksville Schools, member of Madison Lutheran Church, Madison W/ELCA and Rebecca Circle, nurse's aide, and a volunteer with the SHARE Food Program and Helping Services. She was preceded in death by one brother, James Houston.
Survivors include her husband, Irvin Engbretson; one daughter, Carol Sue Engbretson of Decorah, Iowa; mother, Berta Houston of Clarksville; and one sister, Augusta (Dixie) Chaney of Clarksville.
